About Cressi SL with Power Reducer Spear Guns

The SL range of pneumatic spear guns has been in production for many years, and they have won worldwide renowned for their excellence in reliability, precision, power and of being robust. Constantly updated over the years, the SL spear guns are ultra light, easy to use, and fire quickly. The SL comes with an anatomical high grip handle that enabling the gun to be held in line with the arm effortlessly. The bright yellow handle allows you quick and easy identification of the gun even if it ends up on the sea-floor after shooting. Good Gun

Good gun but poor service support from the factory.R

VS

Most Liked Negative Review

Faulty construction. Could be easy fix.

I recently bought both the Cresisub SL and Star and the cable holder on both came off with in a few weeks of owning the guns. Of course, there is no where I can find to get the little plastic retainer and pin. My crew was recently featured in Louisiana Sportsman (July) for spearfishing. I know guns. If this flaw in the design would be fixed the gun is perfect. Still need the parts.

Proven design works great!

By

I've used my Cressi pneumatic gun for 5 months now and have had no problems with it. I bought the SL model with the pressure select switch. Other reviews mentioned that the gun was impossible to load. Mine was too at first but I bled off some of the factory air pressure by pushing a ball point pen tip into the back of the accumulator. I then pumped it back up to a reasonable level. If you have the SL model, be aware that it has to be set on low pressure to load it. You will not be able to load it when high pressure is selected. Pneumatic guns are quick, small and powerful. I have even bagged barracuda with this gun with no problem.

ONE OF THE BEST GUNS AROUND

By

All of the negative reviews about this gun are from people that don't know how to used it and by the way they are extremely easy to load. This pneumatic guns are more complicated and people really have to know what they are doing because they are also dangerous, once you know your gun they are the best. A lot of people just buy them without any knowledge and is sad to see bad reviews about this great gun that have been around for 35 years.

Almost impossible to load

By

The gun seems well built but is almost impossible to load, it requires too much force which makes it dangerous if you can´t push the shaft all the way into the catch mechanism.

Questions about this item:

Bill C  Are these guns normally sold with the accessory air pump?
ROGELIO R  Yes they come with the air pump
Shopper  THis spaer gun come with the shaft ?
RAUL G C  Yes, as well as single barb tip, shock line, loader, carrying bag and instruction manual
SERGEY S  This speargun Cressi SL working like russian AKS.Tha best.Good price.
RICK H  YES!!
SHELLEY G  Yes, 1 shaft.
PASCAL G  Yes it does. It is thick and durable unlike the Mares that is smaller and tends to bend. Great gun!
Martin M  Mine did
IVAN A  yes
RICK G  My family have 3 Cressi SL guns. I haven't shot any of my band guns in 2 years. You can pump it up to get the power you want. Great guns for a good price. It does come with a shaft. I made a few changes. I do not like the tip that comes with it as it doesn't have the coller to hold the toggles down to get the tip back through the fish. I also put a 15' coil cord that attaches the gun to the spear. Way faster and works great in the Oregon coast.
JAMES B  It comes with a cadmium plated shaft. It's ok for a starter shaft, but If you're in salt water it will eventually rust. I've heard of the threaded end breaking off. Best to get spring stainless. I have both the Cressi and Mares in the same size. Prefer the Mares.
JAMES B  Yes.
MARK R  Comes with everything u need.... Great product.. I really like mine.....
CAMILO P  Yes. It is not he best quality shaft but it has lasted me 3 years. I only bent it once while fishing in shallow rocks.
CARLOS U  This gun come with the shaft, but you should find a metalworker and made your own since the one that come with the gun is not that strong. If you make a bad shot to a 20 pound grouper the factory shaft is gone. The gun is great.
RALPH F  YES IT COMES WITH THE SHAFT
Rockney M  When the SL is not in the "power reducer" is it still just as powerful as the SL Star? And which would you recomend for shooting large grouper, hogfish, cobia, etc?
JONATHAN G  I would shoot on max power just to get a feel for the power. If it is getting good penetration then you could back it down. I shoot 5lbs - 65lbs channel/blue catfish on high and shoot 20 plus inch long walleye on low. If I shoot the walleye on high it goes all the way through the fish to including the washer and plastic keeper . So to answer your question "I don't know it depends" I will recommend upgrading the plastic keeper that comes on the shaft to something similar to the JBL spring style as it tends to break off on impact with rock. Also upgrade shafts to stronger style as they have the potential of bending then it could mess your bore up. But that is with any air gun. Hope this helps. Check out TheDiversEdge on facebook
CLINT N  It's is a great gun I have 3 of them. It is powerful. Hogfish should be fine but cobia you might want a little bigger gun and reel.
OMAR R  Yes, I can recomend this device, I'm still using with a great results 100% recomended omar
