The American Snorkel is specifically designed for the needs of the free diver or spear fishermen. The tube is shorter than a standard snorkel to lower the dead air space and allowing faster and more critical ventilation associated with the needs of the free diver or spear fishermen. The large bore anatomically contoured shaped snorkel tube is made from a flexible black material.
Its no-sharp-curves design further relieves air turbulence and increasing proper ventilation. A soft 100% silicone rubber mouthpiece section fits into the end of the main snorkel tube the mouthpiece section swivels so it can be placed at the correct angle for comfortable and long use. The snorkel keeper slides up-and-down the tube for perfect positioning on the mask strap and is equipped with an easy mount clip for quick removal of the snorkel from the mask. Snorkel is all black in color and is made in Italy.
This product can only be shipped to U.S. addresses.

One reviewer said it does not work with the Superocchio. Why not? It seems so unlikely. Is there something odd about the strap on the Superocchio? I have an old Occhio and can't see why there would be a problem.

I have three or four of the similar models that Cressi offers. They are low profile-low drag and very adequate free dive spearfishing else I'd not have several. I never use the clip if it comes with a snorkel. They come un-clipped at the most awkward times and, if you are a scuba diver, invite loss. I replace the clip type with regular old slide-on snorkel tabs/keepers. This type of snorkel is my go-to choice. But what do I know. I've only been spearfishing for 50 or so years.

OK, thanks Bryan. The snorkel holder that comes with it looked very goofy to me and I have every intention of replacing it with a standard snorkel holder before giving it to my grandson. I too have been spearfishing/freediving for 50+ years :). Heck, my snorkel is 50 years old and is the same type which is why I bought this snorkel. May it last half as long!

How flexible is it?
KIM S
I bought this snorkel for scuba diving and skin diving. The scuba diving will be in generally calm seas.
I chose this because it 1. got good reviews 2. soft mouthpiece 3. can be used from the right or left side. 4. cressi is a good company.
For scuba diving from the beach in California, a dry or semi-dry snorkel can be helpful while kicking out in a chop.
For skin diving, 100% dry is not good, semi-dry is ok.
I dislike purge valves because they end up leaking someday.
The mouthpiece swivel capability also may be useful while using scuba and I want it out of my way.

It is rigid enough that it does not shimmy as your swimming but it has some flexibility.

very

Flexible enough for underwater hockey! The tube won't flex, but it's not rigid plastic.
ENRIQUE Z
This is not a really a flexible snorkel ... It is a great snorkel ... cause you an blast clear all the water better than those with a corrugated hose ...
I hope this answered your question ...

The tube is rigid-the mouth piece is very flexible. This is my favorite snorkel for freediving.
MARY C
I am a free diver and for me it is perfect - not too flexible if that was your concern...holds up in waves. Comfortable in my mouth. Great bang for the buck.
TODD R
I'm an old school former commercial diver and I like the simplicity of this snorkel. Nice and stiff so you know where it's at while your snorkeling but with a nice soft mouthpiece for comfort.
Have fun!
PATRICK J
It is very flexible but does return to its original shape

i do not like perge valves they always leak

needed a snorkel

I need a snorkel with ample air flow and a low profile for decreased air volume, due to participating in public safety dive rescue.

This is a no-nonsense snorkel that looks just like the one I've been using for free-diving, spearfishing, and scuba for about 50 years. This one is for my son-in-law and I bought another for a grandson. It has no purge valve, no "dry" valve, and no corrugations so it should be easy to clear and be 100% reliable.

i hate snorkels with valves. want to use for shallow snorkels and spearfishing.

Introducing my son to snorkeling, he's got the basics down, but hard to find quality gear in kid's sizes. I want gear I/he can depend on in the ocean environment.
