About Cressi XS2/AC2 Piston Regulator

The XS2/AC2 Regulator is an exceptionally dependable non-balanced Flow-by-Piston designed 1st stage Regulator that is a great choice as a new divers rig, or for use as a stage bottle regulator system. The 1'st stage has 1 HP port and 4 LP ports, and is made from Marine Grade Chromed Brass for long life and durability. A conical filter is used which has greater surface area for higher air flow characteristics through the 1'st stage regulator.

Great Choice for a new diver

My son and I both have an XS-2 regulator set. I have about 80+ dives on mine and it has never failed me yet. It breathes easy and is lightweight and comfortable. It may not have as many bells & whistles as some other regulators but it you want your own regulator and can't afford to spend a ton of money, this is a good regulator for you. I highly recommend it. It is easy to maintain and can be serviced at most reputable dive shops. I have used it in tropical climates (Bahamas, Jamaica, H...

Most Liked Negative Review

I'm neutral on this one now

Have 40 dives on it, mostly boat diving where I usually come in with 1000-1200psi left. But last week's trip 5 shore dives I noticed the reg during it's last 1000-500psi made me suck real hard to get the air out of it. My other shore dive exits were fine if I had 1000psi+ left so I never noticed this before.

You can't buy a better regulator in this price range. Performs as well as I hoped it would.

Not Recommended!!!

By

from Brechin, ON, CA

Second stage leaks air during negative pressure test and leaks water when submerged. when descending head first or swimming inverted water enters second stage at dangerous levels. Not safe at any depth...

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
GREG N  Purchased for daughter in law due to her Mares failed.
LARRY L  This is the best, simplest, and least expensive reg set going. It's rock solid, is very easy to maintain (I service my own regs) and breathe very well on deep (130') and cold (mid 40's) dives.
CHRISTOPHER B  This was part of a package, but I really like it. I've used it on dozens of dives, down to around 110 feet, mostly warm water, with no problem. Breathes as easily as any regulator I've used, which include a number of Scubapros. Doesn't freeflow much on the surface, and seems simple and basic. Probably one of the best two or three basic regs around.
GRAHAM S  Great reg, i bought it because of the brand and because of the piston.
ROMUARDO P  Great price for a back up.
HARRY C  Price.
RILLA K  came as a package deal - haven't used it yet
VIOLETA A  Came as part of the package and I liked the reviews it had.
DAVID H  I buy Cressi because it's the best quality I can afford. If there was a better regulator out there for $50 more, I'd buy it. There isn't.
Shopper  Do both stages 1 and 2 comes together? the main picture only shows the 2 stage!!!!
Mike T  Hi There, Yes this product does come complete with the first and second stages.
RILLA K  YEs, I received both stages. A great regulator.
Erik F  Is it good for cold water diving? I had an aqualung reg freeze up on my buddy in water around 48 degrees. I'm debating to get this or a similar reg or the cold water kit for the aqualung I already have. Any recommendations?
SAM M  Yes this works well in cold water, we regularly use it for Puget Sound diving and have had no issues.
GABOR M  Hi, I've done quite a few cold water dives around 40-50 degrees, it does well, though there is a very slight performance drop. I'm still using it, serves well. G
GIAN E  I dont know about cold water because I dive in Florida but I can tell you that the regulator is reliable and a good price but it is not as comfortable in the mouth as some of the newer more expensive regs out there
MICHAEL S  Hi Michael, I'm probably not going to be much help to you, because the coldest water I've used it in was the high 50's. I've been using it while harvesting invasive weed from a pond in Maine since 2009 and haven't had any problems thus far. Hopefully someone else can help you out with the freeze up issue. Good diving, Dennis Spinney
Frank L  Rover 2 is the same as the Cressi AC2, both are unbalanced pistons. Better off going with the Rover 12, at least that is a balanced diaphragm, which has a better chance in cold water than an unbalanced piston.
Frank L  Not recommended for cold water below 50 degrees. Most manufacturers recommend using an environmentally sealed first stage below 50 degrees. Contact us directly and we can suggest some for you, or check out the Cressi MC9- SC: http://www.leisurepro.com/p-csbre9sc/cressi-ellipse-balanced-mc9-sc-regulator.
Erik F  That's a very nice regulator, but I just need something simple. It's for a 19 cu. ft. pony bottle that hopefully never gets used, but needs to be sold and reliable or there's no point in having a pony. Would it be better to get a cold water kit for my backup reg and just get a new backup reg? Most of my equipment is mares. Would the Rover 2 handle cold water?
GIAN E  I don't know about cold water because I only dive in Florida but I can tell you that it is super reliable and a great price but its not as comfortable in the mouth as some of the newer more expensive stuff

RONALD S  The coldest that I had it to was 52 degrees farenheit and it worked fine. I froze my tail off but the regulator worked.
