About Cressi Palau (SAF) Short Adjustable Fins

The Palau Short Adjustable Fin (SAF) opens the way for a new type of Snorkeling and Swimming fin. It has been designed for two specific purposes. The first was to have a foot pocket that could easily adapt to at least three or four consecutive foot sizes. This would enable the same fin to be used by all the members of a family, or by a group of friends. It would also make it great for rentals in a diving center or on a charter boat, without requiring an infinite number of sizes.

The second purpose was to guarantee extreme comfort and an ease of fit in a strapped open heel fin even if it is to be worn with bare feet. The result is a fin that is extraordinarily practical, that adapts to practically any foot size, and that allows for very quick fitting in any situation.

The Blade is made from a Lightweight, yet Responsive Material that assures a Fluid and Effortless Kick, yet at the same time quite Powerful. The Fin Blade Extends from the Top of the Foot Pocket for Maximum Surface Area. The Strap has a strong Pull Tab Ring to allow Quick Reversal of the Strap for ease of Donning and Doffing or to Clip the Fins to the Body or Equipment. The Fin Pocket is made from a Soft Elastomer for added Comfort. Due it the Fins Short Blade it is perfect for Traveling and is useful for Body Surfing, Boogie Boards and much more. Fin is available in 4 sizes of X-Small/Small, Small/Medium, Medium/Large or Large/X-Large and comes in Blue, Yellow or Pink colors. Fins are covered by a 12 month limited warranty.

DIVE PINK & FIGHT BREST CANCER! For every Pink Fins $5 will be donated to fight breast cancer.

Bought these for a beginner and ordered a size up to work with booties. If you're planning on using booties, recommend ordering the next larger size. These are not for advanced or expert use and definitely not for diving. They are however, compact and well constructed. Advance or expert could use these for travel, but don't expect to get much power out of these fins.

I ordered these fins because I snorkel off the beach a lot, and figured they'd make it much easier to get in and out of the water. Which they did. But even though I ordered a pair that's "L/XL" (I'm only a size 9 1/2 or 10 shoe), they felt a bit too tight. After one day of snorkeling, I knew why: the fins had removed the skin on top of 2 toes of each of my feet! Even though I wear dive socks! How could this happen? Well, these fins don't really have a foot "pocket"--instead, they just get narrower and narrower until the bottom and top meet at the toe portion of the fin. Which creates a really tight squeeze. Which rubbed at my middle and "ring" toes. Which removed my skin. That night, I cut holes in both fins to remove the rubber that was killing my toes, and it helped a lot. But I still think the design of these things is awful. I do NOT recommend them. I know I'll be looking for short snorkel fins with an actual foot pocket in the near future.

Comments about Cressi Palau (SAF) Short Adjustable Fins:

Cressi makes a nice little fin set for the kids. Short enough for them to carry to the jetty or beach as well. Straps adjusted easily and they weren't bothering me to do the adjustments for them.

Most inefficient Fins I Have Ever Used

Comments about Cressi Palau (SAF) Short Adjustable Fins:

I bought these because they are small and compact and good to travel with. They are not meant to be worn with booties, they are meant to be used barefoot, with regular socks, or with dive socks. With dive socks they are comfortable. The strap is very adjustable and one size can accomodate many different size feet. But thats where the good ends. These are the most inefficient fins I have ever used. You can kick and feel water resistance but not get anywhere. After using these for a dive my feet and knees hurt and my air consumption was too high. I compared these with the five dollar toy fins you see at department stores and the toy fins won. Do yourself a favor and buy something else.

                  Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
TED B  For training fins. I found the heel staps to be flimsy for a Cressi product.
Shopper  What size would I get for a woman wearing an 8.5-9 shoe to be worn without booties or socks and a mans 10.5 shoe? Mary
TED B  I found these fins to be true to size when worn w/o booties or socks. Follow sizing recommendations.
Richard M  The vertical clearance for my foot is very tight just behind my big toe. It is actually a bit uncomfortable. Does the rubber break in at all? I wear a size 11.5 shoe, medium width, and bought the short Palau L/XL fins.
THOMAS B  I own several open back fins and always wear a light weight boot with all of them. This is a very good fin for snorkeling and packs easily into your luggage case. You might consider buying a boot as I do not believe the rubber will stretch as you wear.
