About Cressi Aquapro 5 BCD

The Aquapro 5 is an economically minded Jacket Style BCD, yet has all the features of higher priced buoyancy compensators. The durable 420-denier urethane laminated nylon air bladder and self-draining mesh fabric construction will give years of dependable service. The Aquapro 5 has two unique "Gravity" releasable weight pockets that are attached to the bellowed zippered accessory pockets with one on either side of the BCD. The weight pockets closures are squeeze style" quick-release impact and corrosion resistant Fastex buckles. Just squeeze" the buckles and the weights are released. Each pocket can hold over 6 lbs. (2.7 kg).

The back support is rigid for proper cylinder stability, but is fully padded for comfort. The harness assembly is an independent suspension system that allows the cylinder and the diver to keep proper stability and avoid cylinder shifting on the back, while allowing the BCD's air cell to fully inflate away from the diver not causing restriction or crushing effect as with non-ergonomic designs. Adjustable sternum straps along with both torso adjustment shoulder straps are equipped with squeeze style" quick-release buckles.

The BCD has three over-pressure relief/dump valves with two located on the left and right shoulders and a third lower valve on the rear right of the air cell. All three can be manually dumped two with pull cords and the other with the power inflator mechanism. BCD is equipped with two stainless steel, 2" (50 mm), D-rings on the shoulder straps, and two plastic, 2" (50 mm) D-rings on the pocket lobes, with two additional snap hooks for attachment of Instruments and accessories. BCD comes in multiple sizes from with lift capacities ranging from 13 lbs. (6.1 kg) to 36 lbs. (16.3 kg), is equipped with the new Cressi inflator with 3/8" threaded LP quick-disconnect hose, and comes with an owner's manual.

Nice Improvements

This is a great BC for the money. I dove the old version for almost 10 years. I still use it but wanted to get the new version. Now 2 d-rings, zippered pockets, larger more stable weight pockets and more make this an even better device! Thanks Cressi! Note: Everone calls it an Aquapro5 when in fact it is an Aquapro6r on Cressi website,(it still says 5 on the side of the bc itself, but whatever) It has an updated inflator from the one in the pic here.

Difficult pocket access

The pockets are too high making them difficult to operate the zippers. Hard fabric on the areas where it rubs with wetsuit causes damage on wetsuit. The worst part is the points of contact on the back where the tank weight is supported against your back.

Great BC

Great Price. Great BC. Been on many dives with this product. For me, it's a comfortable fit. The only little issue is getting into the side pockets, if you're going to use them.

You could spend more money, but why would you?

By

After a long absence from diving, my old BC didn't (ahem) fit me anymore. The only logical explanation is that it must have shrunk sitting in the closet. Looking around the high reviews of this BC made me take a slight risk to order it sight unseen. Two things right off the bat: The size chart looks just about spot-on, and it works wonderfully. While I ordered a XL for myself, I grabbed a XS my 16 year old daughter and it too fit perfectly. And what can you say about the BC other than: It works. What more do you want from a BC? The only (very) small complaint is that the back isn't plush soft, but a hard plate that's covered with some soft material. I'm really nitpicking though. When my son's BC (my old one) bit the bucket a short while after he got certified, I didn't hesitate at all and ordered a third one in L. Very happy with this purchase and an incredible value.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Rafael L  Have an older model, 12 years old and still using it. Great price.
Chuck T  After all the great feedback and price I'm looking forward to a much lighter than my old Seaquest quick draw.
Matt F  Super fit, durable, love the zippered pockets and weight release. 5*s

Steve O  Best price, dealt with previous and no problems
Shelley R  My boyfriend tried a friend Cressi Aquapro 5 while in Cozumel last year when his BC started leaking. It fits great, it's a great price and streamlined.
Brian B  First of all it was cheap. It also meets all of the specs and criteria that I was looking for. I don't need nor do I want to pay for all the bells and whistles. I talked with a rep and was assured that I could beat it up and it will keep ticking. Ultimately it was the cheapest BC that met my demands.

JEREMY S  I chose this BCD mainly because of this brand and price. I have only used it once since I purchased it, but it worked great for me.
ERIC J  lightweight for travel, excellent price, more supportive than travellite version, which is floppy for me.
Blake S  How much does this BCD weigh?
Sarge S  Less than 5 pounds.
MACK C  As an owner, i would guess less than 8 lbs before weights obviously
Angee S  I am short and heavy (5'4 and 250 lbs). Waist is about 49 inches. Will I fit the XL?
KEVIN F  Cressi indicates the XL will fit waist sizes of 43-47 inches.
JOHN W  I have a 34" waist and the Medium is a little big so ...maybe. The great thing about Leisurepro, though is if it doesn't fit you can return it with no hassles.
