Great suit, I've had it almost a month. I've accumulated 12 dives with it in really cold water (42 to 45 degrees) and it hasn't let me down. From glacier lake to underground spring fed lakes, its a winner. The only thing is what all the others have noticed, the chest emblem have peeled a bit but I re glued them and kept going. For the price this suit kicks but!

1. Rubber protective pads came loose from the suit after a week od diving. Both knee and shoulder ones. Such rigid pads just do not match great (because so flexible)suit material.
2. The suit had a leak from first dive. Really hard to locate. Caused by a missing/broken layer of laminated material. BARE was not responsive at all. Their Customer Support must be from a different Planet. Looking for their advise/action I felt like being a nuissance. A simple patch fixed the leak.
3. I think suit misses a protective flap on the zipper
4. Bright side: one of those suits that do NOT make you feel like wearing an armor. Light weight yet very strong. Good valves, seals, neoprene socks are a winner too.

Comments about Bare Sports Bare Nex Gen Pro Dry Suit (Last Years Model):

After multiple issues with rental equipment I gave up and bought my own. The gremlins in this suit are not as bad as the ones in the rental gear, by far.

I have had some issues with the relief valve. Pressing the button under water to release air does not seem to work, but this could be inexperienced operator error. I have found that turning it all of the way open is the only way to release air.

Dry suit diving is a whole different animal than wet, but I love being warm and dry quickly after a long chilly dive in PNW water.

I am a short, overweight woman with short legs. It can be difficult to size drysuits for my body type. Even with a Men's LS I find that the legs are a little too long for me (31" inseam) and the boots are a little big. Good chest roominess though, even for the well-endowed woman. Sized for a man, it is a bit of a snug don to slip over the larger hips of a woman. This is likely to be the area of concern for sizing. If in doubt, consult the BARE site for measurements. About an inch or 2 of slip is allowed in those for movement, which might make the sizing difference for some.

Zipper and seals are nice quality. Wish there was an inexpensive option to include integrated rock boots, but for this price I will adjust. Price includes a storage bag roomy enough for your undergarment too with a backpack type strap for convenience to transport to your dive spot. Also includes a decent inflator hose with nice connection, talc bag, and silicone zipper lube.

Add an undergarment and you'll be ready to go. Polartec is nice, and I wear some ski chilies underneath for added warmth. I also wear two pair of socks, but the feet definitely get chilly after an hour in the water.

Comments about Bare Sports Bare Nex Gen Pro Dry Suit (Last Years Model):

I use this drysuit for Lake Michigan shipwreck diving. What make this suit so comfortable is that the material isn't as tough and stiff as the more expensive suits. I haven't had any leaks or pinholes yet. Because of my own fault being careless I did replace the neck seal. Still diving dry.

Comments about Bare Sports Bare Nex Gen Pro Dry Suit (Last Years Model):

I am 5'11" and 190 pounds, size 9 1/2 shoe and ordered a med-large with size 10 boots. the suit was to big and the boots to long. Called the folks at Leisure Pro and they said no problem. sent it back and they sent me out a med tall and large boots size 9 and it was great. This suit has not leaked on me yet. The first suit I have ever owned that hasn't leaked. I can put on a pair of shorty socks and when I take my suit off my feet will just slide right out dry as a bone.

        Q&A

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

        Questions about this item:

Shopper  How do you add pockets to this NexGen suit?
Michael C  You would need to purchase the glue on pockets, and use Aquaseal to glue them to the suit.
Greg S  I also forgot to ask, if you can trim the neck latex, as I have a 19 inch neck and this suit is really tight in the neck? I have read that this can be done, but to only remove 2-3 mm at a time, so that you retain a dry area and not remove too much material at one time. Thought I would ask here before I attempt this.
Michael C  You can trim the neck seal but have to do it very carefully. What you do is stretch the neck seal over an 80 cuft scuba tank. You will see lines going around the neck seal. Use a very sharp razor blade and carefully cut one line at a time until you achieve the size you want. Remember though you want it to be tight so it makes a good seal, and once you cut too much off you have to replace the entire seal, so cut 1 line and then try it on. Repeat that until you find the best size.
Greg S  Yeap, I took a small plastic bucket and did the same thing and cut it and took off two rings. What a world of difference and the suit does not leak and I can breath again. Just got certified in the suit on Friday and did the cuts before the certification, so that my red didn't turn blue.
Greg S  I bought this suit but now need to get undergarments to dive in the Boston area Atlantic Ocean. What undergarments do you recommend for this water/area for this suit?
Michael C  Any of these besides the "base layer" will be good enough for the Boston area. Of course it also depends on your own tolerance and what time of year you are diving. The polarwear is popular, also the SB mid layer is popular because you can get it in 2 pieces. http://www.leisurepro.com/Cat/Context_980/Drysuits/2518.html#!ControlName=GCSearchMU&op=CatDisplay&Term=&SearchFlag=all&AdvSrchSortField=Relevance&DescSort=0&Context=980&Filter=flid_2518_2%3d2673&Page=1&CategoryID=2518
