Great wetsuit for tropical diving

I'm 5'3" 105 lbs and got this in size 6. It was super tight to start with but loosened up a tad after a couple of dives and now it's perfect. Very stretchy and not too difficult to get on and off, but hey it's a wetsuit, not a pair of trousers. Fits great, snug but does not restrict movement. Looks good too (I got the all black version). I use this mostly for tropical diving. If I need additional warmth I layer a sharkskin long sleeved top underneath. I like this so much that I'm considering ...

This suit is very old stock.

The beading on top of the leg and arm Selma cracked and split, exposing thread by dive two. I bought this for a spare to use on vacation, but gave it up after two dives. Don't bother. It's also not the usual Bare quality.

Perfect for Belize (75-80ºF water)

By

from San Francisco, CA, US

I bought this specifically for a live aboard trip, 5 dives/day, 5 days of diving in Belize. The first use - the suit was super tight. Difficult to put on. After a couple of dives, much easier to get on (maybe i got used to it?). The taping on the seam did break and peel off after a few days. I am 5'3", 36-29-35, but 150 lbs. The limbs are long on me. The limbs are tight, but not impossible to put on. The body was perfect on me. I tried a couple of dives to fold up on the wrist and ankles, but i think water got in much easier and I was a bit cold. So i dove the rest of the time with it bunched. I took off a star because the taping on the seam did fall a part. Not sure what the benefit is if it falls apart so easily.

Love this wetsuit!

The only thing I would change is to make the zipper cord alittle longer. It is so nice looking on. It is made to withstand the tightness and the squirming that you have to do to get any wetsuit on. Definitely made for a woman!

This will keep you warm!!

By

This wetsuit fit perfectly and kept me warm in waters that were 79-80 degrees F. The small size fit me well at 120 - 125 pounds, and 5 feet 2 inches. I liked the elastic material and found it easy to put on and remove. There are no zipper closures on the wrist nor ankles, but I didn't find that they were necessary. The wrist and ankles had a lining which made a better seal which can "stick" to the skin, so to make it easier to slide on, I just folded the wrist and ankles over, then unfolded them after I slid the suit on. For additional warmth, I added a long sleeve rash guard and wore a beanie head cover.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

val l  Wetsuits are always too short for me. I weigh 110 pounds for 5' 8" so would the 8 Tall be too baggy?
SUSAN R  I have a BARE 10T, am 5'10 and weigh 150. The suit is long, perfect for me, and it's a nice suit. When I ordered mine, I ordered both a 10 and 12 so I could get the right fit.
KEVIN F  Very difficult to say with limited information. However, we do have a Pressure Free Fit Guarantee. http://www.leisurepro.com/i/pff
Stacey C  I would go with a 6 if you are only 110
STEPHEN J  Your weight is the least important measurement when you are buying a wetsuit. Use Bare's size chart and take your other measurements listed on the chart (bust, waist, hips and inseam especially) and see where they fall on that chart. Bare's suits closely follow that chart. Wetsuits should be snug & form fitting when dry but loosen up just a bit once in the water. On land, you should still have a full range of motion. You need to be able to bend over like trying to touch your toes, raise your arms over you head, hug yourself and squat down without it restricting those movements. If the sleeves are a little long (say an inch or so) it's still ok. My wife has a long torso and short legs so most brands aren't cut long enough in the torso for her except for Bare and Henderson, especially since they have many more "in-between" sizes to choose from. The neck should be able to be snugged without a big gap opening when you bend over but not so snug as to strangle you. I have a men's 3mm Elastek and a 3mm Velocity. The Elastek stretches a bit more so that suit is actually an XL short vs the less stretchy Velocity which I had too move up to an XL in for a bit more length in the torso when I bent over. However, by moving to the XL to get the torso length, the arms wound up being a little long (I have alligator arms) but not too bad so I end up just making a small fold just above the wrist and it's fine. LP has a great return policy so if the first one you order doesn't fit just send it back and they'll replace it for free.
Nancy Y  How easy is it to pull on this wetsuit? My wetsuit I have now is a Henderson hyper stretch. I will probably need the size 18 since I'm not skinny. I'm about 5'4 and weight 185?
DAVID M  I'm afraid a wet suit IS a wet suit. It's easier than a 7mm, but still hard to get on. David
Flora L  I saw the question on short sizes, but the person answering didn't say which size did it fit you perfectly? I'm 5'2" around 125 pounds. Should I get size 8?
Frank L  Your measurements are more important than weight. Once you have chest, waist and hips measurement, use the size chart to find the correct size. Bare does run a bit small.
