Great price

Warm, durable and comfortable. And has a good quality YKK zipper. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Good for Price

By Mandy

Great product for the price you pay for it. Enjoy it a lot. Keeps me warm and I tend to get pretty cold. I dive in waters in the 50's F, northern CA. Only issue is the arm length, in which it is too short. But then again, I have long arms, so that's a individual issue and does not necessarily reflect the quality of the product, so I therefore gave it 5 stars.

With the ability to mix-and-match pieces (see SKU: BLR7MF for John), divers who choose one of these classic two-piece suits will discover they have several options for thermal protection on every dive. Worn together, the John and Jacket System give a double layer of protection over the body's core for the coldest conditions. The NeoSport 7mm Step-In Jacket features glued and sewn seams, spandex trimmed wrist seals and spot taped at intersecting seams that provide toughness, strength and watertight integrity.

For warm waters, wearing just the Step-In Jacket provides essential core warmth while maximizing mobility. The jacket comes equipped with a full length heavy-duty #10-YKK front zipper closure. Suit has an anatomical cut pattern for a comfortable fit. When worn in conjunction with the John, the double layering of 14mm of neoprene rubber from the upper legs to the shoulders and torso will give you hours of warmth even in cold conditions. Suit is available in multiple sizes, is also available as a John & Jacket combination (see SKU: BLRW7M), is black in color and has a tear away sizing tag for easy ID.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Steve S  So this is a jacket and a pair of shorts?
darrick c  Hello Steve, think of this as a front zip shorty with long arms.
Dr. M  Give me details about the 7mm neoprene jacket. What is a step-in jacket, for example. How durable is it? I use Neosport wetsuits 3mm shorty. But its not enough to prevent my getting cold in three-hour swims.
WILLIAM B  I use the full suit for diving in 72 degree water for 90-120 min and it is fine for me. We use them for cave diving so they are very durable. Cant beat the price.
MICHAEL S  Its a great bargain wetty but the jacket is quite stiff, bulky and bouyant (sp) and I should not think it is well suited to swimming.
STEVE W  I've been real happy with mine. Step in means that one leg unzips and the other needs to be stepped into. Good fit and seems to be well made. If you are using it for swims, it will pretty buoyant due to the thickness and it won't be as flexible as a 3mm but that isn't due to a poor product but rather the thickness that will help keep you warm. I use mine for diving and riding a Sea Doo on winter days in Washington's Western lakes.
JOHN D  Dr. M, The step-in-jacket is designed to go over a farmer john. With chest thermal protection of at least 14mil. The 7mil is warm, zipper is durable and easy to get in and out of. The step in jack will work good over a 5mil farmer john on your 3hour swim.
Shopper  The sizing chart says my chest is a Med, 38" but my height is 6ft which falls under XL. Should I get the Med or Large jacket?
ENRIQUE Z  You should probably get the large because of length ... However, it could be a little floppy ... you could wear like a rash guard underneath ... or like a hooded vest to take up the slack ...
RON C  Get the large , you can always wear a tee shirt under it if it is a little big. Neopreme will shrink alittle with time , also there is nother worse than dive in a suit that is too tight. Hope this helps . Ron
ED D  I'm 6ft also and the length of my XL is just right. I think med would be too small...
LARRY Z  I would advise the Large size. You may not need it for the body but your legs and arms will need the length.
jodie p  I'm confused...is this a wetsuit or just a jacket? Picture makes it look like a one-piece shortie that you step into and zip up in the front. Is that correct?
THOMAS T  Yes, it is a wet suit shorty. It is very comfortable and warm.
WILLIAM B  It is a wetsuit top not a shorty a shorty would have short sleaves I use the 7mm farmer jon and top for water in the mid 50s anything colder I use a drysuit If you are in warmer water you may want to look at a true shorty in a 3mm
MIKE P  the one i bought is a two piece...this one, per description, is only the jacket...but the two piece i bought, for the price, is outstanding...im on the dive team here in california so i have used it a lot..hope this helps, have fun and be careful
STEVE W  Yes, it's a long sleeve shorty. Pretty happy with mine. I'd buy it again.
LARRY Z  It is the top of a two piece suit. The farmer john goes under the jacket. You could use it as a shorty but it may not seal very well on the legs.
KEITH S  You are correct. It is a shorty that you step in and zip up from one leg up to top of chest. But it is a wetsuit. I have the 7mm farmer john bottom and the top as pictured. Combined together the top is about 14 mm all together. Very warm in cold water. I am happy with mine.
jodie p  do you think it would be too warm for snorkeling/diving in water about 70 degrees? Would a 3mm be more appropriate? Do you know how much it phyisically weighs?
KEITH S  If it were me I would get a 3mm full suit. But I do not get cold easy. Also depends on the air temps too. If the air is cold your legs are going to get cold due to the shorty aspect. Here is a little chart to help you out. This is only a recommendation. Exposure Suit Comfort Zones Water temp Thickness recommended 75-85F 1/16" (1.6mm) neoprene, Lycra, Polartec 70-85F 1/8" (3mm) neoprene 65-75F 3/16" (5mm) neoprene 50-70F 1/4" (6.5mm) neoprene 35-65F 3/8" (9.5mm) neoprene, dry suit
KEVIN J  Yes it is a wet suit, it's one part of a two part wet suit, it's worn over a farmer John wet suit.
jodie p  Can you just wear it by itself for warm water diving/snorkeling?
Shopper  Would this jacket be a good choice for waterskiing in 60 to 70 degree water, in terms of flexible enough and warmth? Does it come in 3mm?
LeisurePro S  This will be warm enough, and your flexibility will be moderate in the arms. This jacket specifically doesn't come in a 3mm thickness, but here is something else you might consider for both warmth and increased flexibility.
