About Atomic SV1 Snorkel

Many divers won't even dive with a snorkel, just look around on the next dive you take at the beach or out on the charter boat, very few snorkels. You also hear many divers on those dives complain about their short bottom times and want to know how to increase it for more fun. A snorkel is part of that answer. The amount of air a diver wastes on the surface breathing from their regulator drastically reduces the amount of air for the actual time they are underwater.

A snorkel that is easy to clear is low in profile and one that stays dryer inside is what you are looking for. SV stand for Scupper Valve, also known as a one way valve. Just like the one way valve in your regulator which when you exhale drains water from your regulator the Scupper Valve basically works the same. The SV1 uses an additional feature that keeps water away from your mouth a small tube located just below the mouthpiece is designed to keep the breathing airway path free of water droplets. The flexible lower tube makes the Atomic SV1 Snorkel perfect for Scuba by automatically swinging out-of-the-way when you are using your Scuba regulator. So if you hate to use a snorkel, but want more bottom time this is the solution you are looking for. Snorkel comes with a quick-release snorkel keeper that has a 30° rotation/sliding adjuster and has a removable and replaceable silicone mouthpiece.

The Atomic SV1 Snorkel is commonly used for SCUBA Diving, Snorkeling, Spearfishing, Vacation and more. The Atomic SV1 Snorkel is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced among others. The Atomic SV1 Snorkel is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Atomic SV1 Snorkel: Comfortable Mouthpiece, Ergonomic Design, Purge Valve.

Over Priced Junk

About the only thing that I can say about this snorkel is that the mouthpiece is comfortable. Other than that it floods in any type of chop and is a pain to clear. I had to cover the top of the snorkel to get the purge valve to actually work.

Best Snorkel for actual Divers...

First, this an incredible snorkel. I've used it all over the world in warm, cold, choppy, and calm waters. For those that say it's junk, LEARN to use a snorkel and how to position it and your body. For those of you that actually know what you're doing, this is the BEST. SNORKEL. EVER. It also folds nicely to travel with and is super light. SCUBA, SPEARFISHING, ABALONE DIVING, and REC SNORKELING, it does it all with ease. The SV1 is no joke.

I've had two of these. (Lost the first on a back-flip boat entry). Not a big snorkler but seems adequate as scuba gear. Stylish.

dont waste your money

I purchased his snorkel last summer and after a year of using I have found that you can find another snorkel that functions better for cheaper. I am a Floridian that snorkels a lot (usually every weekend) from March to September. I will have to say it is a light, comfortable, and easy clearing snorkel. But it doesn't clear while exhaling as easy as it seems. You have to put a little effort into clearing it. I find myself clearing it often although it's not as hard to clear as some others I have used in the past it does take more than just the normal exhaling to clear it. I find that the gargle will stay until I actually put effort into it to clear it. I have found that the snorkels with a float in it actually works the best. They allow no water in and are usually easy to clear if some comes around the mouth piece. If I had it to do all over again I wouldn't spend my 60 dollars on this product and buy something different. I really didn't have any reviews to go by when I researched this product so maybe this will help out.

Doesn't work so great

This snorkel is just not dry enough. The double valve doesnt clear enough water and is a gimmick. I used this snorkel for scuba, and freediving. I am pretty active in the water while freediving and on one occasion aspirated sea water because the snorkel had difficulty purging water and I was constantly sucking alot of sea water. I recently bought a riffe stable snorkel and I cant even compare them its so much better. The stable is almost completely dry. If you want a dry snorkel get one with a large reservoir above the exhaust/purge valve.
