" BY FAR THE BEST REG USED"

By hawaiidiverbigisland

In short, I have done 1000's of dives and used dozens or high end and low end regs, some of the low end regs in my opinion out perform some of the high end ones, fuethermore the Atomics B2 is my favorite, I really wanted the T-3 but it was out of my budget window and yes the T-3 has a Titanium Exterior but the inside parts are still brass, Titanium and EANx is not compatible, in other words if you have the $$$ and want to be the most fasionable diver underwater by all means go with the T3

Best Reg I've used

By Scott

This is by far the best reg I have used, light in the mouth and easy on air you really don't notice it's there at all. The swivel feature also means when you turn your head it doesn't tug at your jaw. I've used many brands and styles of regulator and if you're willing to spend a little bit of extra money you won't be disappointed by this one!

Introducing the Atomic B2 regulator, designed for ultimate comfort as the successor to the renowned Atomic B1. Celebrated for its performance and ergonomics, the B2 shares the first and second stage design of the T1, but with an all-titanium second stage and a compact, high-performance chrome-plated brass and type 316 stainless steel first stage.

Featuring a balanced flow-thru piston with Atomic's jet seat high-flow stainless steel piston and an exclusive self-lubricating high-pressure seal system, the B2 ensures low friction and maintenance. The innovative conical seat and blunt end piston design offer exceptional reliability, allowing for 2 years or 300 dives without service. Experience superior diving performance, even at low tank pressure.

The B2's factory-sealed first stage provides freeze protection and prevents contamination. Nitrox ready for up to 40% mixtures, the first stage includes 2 high-pressure and 5 low-pressure ports.

The B2's second stage boasts a balanced linear flow design for easy breathing at all depths and conditions. Built with a titanium demand valve body, lever, and sealing orifice, as well as a high-quality silicone rubber diaphragm, this pneumatically-balanced poppet second stage features Atomic's patented seat-saving dynamic orifice for extended seal life.

Enjoy Atomic's patented automatic flow control (AFC) and the comfort swivel, allowing for 30 Degree rotation without binding or kinking. The regulator also includes a 3/8" threaded 32" low-pressure hose, weighs 2.5 lbs., and comes with an owner's manual.

This product can only be shipped to U.S. addresses.

Questions about this item:

MARK F  What is the difference, practically between sealed, and not sealed. Don't any advantages of being sealed disappear after it is opened up for it's first servicing?
MARK F  Thanks for you answer
JUNE H   If you dive primarily in cold waters, you need to make sure that the regulator youâ??re getting at least meets the European Standard for cold water regulators (as defined by EN250), which means that the regulator has been certified for use in water as cold as 2 to 4 degrees Celsius (35.6 â?? 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit). If the manufacturerâ??s documentation indicates that it meets US Navy Standards, thatâ??s even better. Those standards indicate that the regulator has been certified in waters as cold as 28 â?? 30 degrees Fahrenheit (-2.2 to -1.1 degrees Celsius). Design methods for achieving cold water certification vary, but in general it involves sealing the first stage and using a heat sink on the second stage to recapture some of the heat in the diverâ??s exhaled breath. If youâ??ll be diving in waters that are silty, sandy, or high in dissolved solids, youâ??ll want to get a regulator with environmental sealing as a feature. Your regulator will be resealed after being serviced.
NICHOLAS L  The 1st stage is sealed not the reg. Prevents water from entering when switching out tanks.
KURT G  As far as I know, it has to be resealed again. The sealed reg is for diving in cold weather and helps prevent the reg from freezing. At one point I was diving in a quarry with temps running about 46F which is pretty freakin cold. I don't do it regularly but thought why not be prepared if I do it again. Hope that helps.
RICHARD W  No, when the first stage is serviced (and thoroughly cleaned) it is resealed and reassembled.
MAVERICK K  When they say sealed all they mean is that the first stage has a filter inside when your remove the dust cap no small debris can get in. My Oceanic FDX is a sealed reg, for the little extra money I think its worth it and it also depends with how well you taker care of your reg. I am very meticulous with all my regs , its your lifeline , even when I do live aboards or charter boat dives I always politely ask the crew if I can attach my reg to their tanks. Ask fa as Atomics , BUY It !!!! That's how great their regs are, I went with the B2 and was gonna buy the T3, until I found out that the T3 still has brass internals and the only Titanium was the exterior of the reg, titanium internals is not Nitrox compatible and that's why the T3 is basically the same as the B2 . Hope this helps, and by all means if you have the money buy the T3 sealed its their top of the line unit !!!! Safe diving my friend - Maverick Hawaii Diver
MARK F  Thanks. But aren't all the regs nitrox compatible up to 40%.? Just not a higher %.
Pearl V  whats the difference between the ST1 and the B2?
GREGORY T  About $200. Not enough info here to tell. I can tell you I've used a B2 with a M1 backup for 4 1/2 years in 30 degree freshwater and 85 degree salt water to depths I should not have been at. I've had a dozen regs. The B2 IS THE BEST. Save yourself some cash. G.
PAUL H  "B" refers to brass. The difference in these regs has everything to do with materials
