Works very well

I have used one of these buckles for 10-12 years. For me it solved the weight belt around your knees problem, or in my case, weight belt hanging from my crotch strap. The way I use it is to tighten on the boat, then retighten again if needed when I get to the bottom. This was a replacement for my original one which was on my brand new weight pocket belt that I left in a Cozumel dive shop two months ago. Be aware that this has only two slots for the belt loops, not the customary three.

Proven performer

I have had this buckle for more than 10 years. It works just fine. You just snug it up before you go down, and again if necessary on the bottom and it keeps your weight belt tight. I am buying another because, after all this time, I left my belt in Cozumel.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Is it going to work with drysuite? There is lot more space for compression.
MICHAEL L  A dry suit is all that I use this buckle on with 30 lbs of weight. If your suit fits you correctly it will work perfectly. There is about 1" of spring in the buckle to compensate for compression. Plenty enough room. It's solid too. I defenitely recommend this buckle. I have lost too many weight pockets and that is a thing in the past now that I have a weight belt. Lose one weight pocket and you can buy 2 of these buckles AND the webbing for the price of replacement of the pocket and weight.
HARVEY W  I tried it with my Whites Fusion. I do not think it worked the best because of the drysuit. While the buckle did what it was supposed to do, the outer lycra/neoprene cover on the drysuit did not allow the weight belt to stay in place was well as I liked. I ended up going with a harness system. Now I have a weight intergrated BCD.
MARY W  I've used this buckle with a 5 or 7 mm wetsuit with complete satisfaction. I've had some scary problems with plastic buckles--difficult to secure, snapping open, especially during giant-stride entries.
VICTOR A  I think that it's use is more appropriate for a wet suit that compresses with depth. I used it with my drysuit for awhile and it worked, but I wondered whether it trapped air either above or below the belt. I lost the belt (only had about 4-6 lbs on it) before I could experiment further with it.
BRIAN R  I have used it with a dry suit several times. The key is you need to pull it tight enough to almost fully extend the spring when putting the weight belt on. This will keep it as tight as possible.
Joseph S  I use it with a drysuit. Its only a little stretch hut better than a normal buckle
MATT D  Yes, it will work with a dry suit. When putting the belt on the dry suit must be adjusted to ensure that the belt is tight to the waist just above the hips.
CHRISTOPHER D  I'm having trouble figuring out have to put the buckle on my weight belt. Can anyone help explain how to put it on a weight belt?
LIDIA AND SIMON V  This is a great buckle for scuba. It does keep your belt in one place as advertised. It does get squeaky as you breathe, but for the most part you will never even notice it.
Guy M  Christopher; Put the buckle on the left side of the belt through the two slots. This will allow you to have a right hand release . You will love this buckle it is well worth the $$$. Use it a time or two to see if you need to trim the belt . If you hated adjusting your belt at depth due to it getting loose this will correct this issue. If you do not have bungee or spring straps on your fins Get some when you can. you will love the No adjusting fin straps at depth either. Guy Marrese Underwater photography
MARY W  The belt threads through the "roller" on the closed side of the buckle. The space for the belt is narrow. If your belt is new and stiff, it may take a bit of pushing to get it through the slot. (That's what I found out the hard way). But this is a great buckle otherwise--no slippage! It won't come open!
CHRISTOPHER D  Mary, Thanks for your answer, your answer is the best so far but I'm sorry I still can't figure it out. If you can explain it better or/and show me pictures, I would appreciate it. Chris
Shopper  What does this do?
LeisurePro S  What it means by "depth-compensating" is that the buckle is spring loaded to add depth compensation to a weight belt. This eliminates the need for weight belt adjustment while diving due to wetsuit decompression/expansions.
