About Catalina 63 Cubic Foot Aluminum Tank with Pro Valve, Yellow

Great size for primary youth cylinder or instructional pool cylinder, Catalina 63 Cubic Ft. (9 liter) Aluminum Tank with Pro Valve. Cylinder comes with a K Pro Valve, which is one of the highest flow cylinder valves available today and is also a convertible valve. Whether you dive Yoke or DIN regulators this valve will work for both. Valve has easily removed 200 bar DIN insert to convert the valve for use with DIN regulators. Valve has a heavy duty deign with a smooth operating mechanism and multi-ported burst disc plug for added safety. The K Pro Valve is nitrox compatible up to 40%.

Aluminum cylinders unlike steel cylinders don't rust, they oxidize. The oxidization of aluminum forms a protective coat that hinders the continuation of corrosion making aluminum cylinders less likely to be condemned due to excessive corrosion. When shipped the tanks valves will be removed and the tank will require re-inspection before being filled. Note: All Catalina cylinders are nitrox ready and meet certificated specifications of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) with DOT-3AL specification and Transport Canada Safety and Security (TC) with TC-3ALM specifications. Purchasers should check with other country requirements to know if the cylinders are certified for use in that country.

The 63 cubic foot (9 liter) cylinder is a 3000 psi (207 bar) rated tank that measures 21.7" (55 cm) in height with a 7.25" (18.4 cm) diameter. The tank weighs 26.9 lbs. (12.2 kg) and is negatively buoyant 2.8 lbs. (1.27 kg) when full and positively buoyant 0.7 lbs. (317.5 g) when at 500 psi (50 bars).

Not what I ordered

I like the 80's so I kept it, but I did order the 63 for a light weight wait tank. I like LP a lot great deals but they need to check out what they send out.

Exceptional service.....fast delivery !!!

By

from Swansea, MA, US

I was looking for an aluminum tank (smaller than a standard 80) for my boys who are new to diving...I checked several dive shops in my area and they all wanted much more $$$. Leusure Pro beat them all and shipped the tank to my door as promised. I had it in like 2 or 3 days. I could not be happier and will be buying them another tank here so they each have their own along with some other gear. Thanks Leisure Pro. !!!

Excellent for smaller divers

By

Excellent size for my smaller wife who can live under water far longer with a 63 than I can with a standard 80. Lighter weight with a shorter frame. Would like to be able to order it in different colors.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
William P  Good deal, smaller, lighter tank, good for short dives
JOSHUA S  Wife needed gear
RICHARD M  Perfect tank for training kids and 5ft and under adults.
ZEKE T  Smaller and lighter for my wifes use.
Grace C  Does this tank come with the valve already installed? or will I need to take it somewhere to get it installed?
William C  The tank will need a visual inspection before the valve is installed. In my area it cost about $15.00.
NICHOLAS T  The valve needs to be fitted. They can't ship a closed cylinder. I had to have it inspected before getting it filled.
WAYNE V  Tanks are shipped without valves installed. When you take the tank in for filling and VIP sticker the valve with o-ring should be installed without additional charge.
GREGORY S  Valve installed
Alvin A  No, you will take it to your local dive shop - they will inspect the inside of the tank, install the new valve and fill with air.
BETH V  I received this particular cylinder a few years ago. I don't recall if the valve was on it or not. If it wasn't I screwed it on and tightened it with a crescent wrench. It's a 30 second job. You don't need to take it anywhere, just do it.
Fred P  The valves are not installed. Thread them on ,hand tight, and tighten with an extra bump from your hand. Do not use any type of thread sealant. Or, you can take them to a dive shop and have them installed. Then they will visually inspect and fill them for you.
DELAND H  The valve is not installed should take it to a shop and have it visual inspected Valve installed and vis sticker put on.
Regi B  I did belive that this 63CU was lighter than 80CU.. but looking at the specs, it states that 80CU is lighter (mean less pounds) .. Is that true or is a mistake on the web site? Someone can clarify this?
KEVIN F  The 63 weighs 28.5 lbs. with valve installed. The 80 weighs 32.5 lbs with valve installed.
William C  I just weighed both the tanks. The 80 cu with pro valve is 34 pounds and the 63 cu with pro valve is 31 pounds. So the 63 is a little lighter. Hope this helps!
Regi B  It does. Thanks. There is an error on the specifications weight in lbs. looks like in Kg is fine.
PATRICK B  If you look at the manufacturer specs. It is lighter. I didn't compare what Leisure Pro has, but simply went direct to manufacturer: I can't place the link here, but if you google Catalina scuba tank, the SPEC sheet for all tanks is offered in the results as a pdf.
