Same as most ... good price

This is my second pair of EMT shears. First pair was Zeagle. It seems every maker fails to use a stainless rivet and these rust through after a couple of years and you're left with two disconnected blades! And you never know exactly when they're going to fall apart. Note to manufacturers: make the rivet stainless steel and I'll pay $5 more!

Not all stainless, pivot rusts quickly

After 6 days of diving (Little Cayman Island), the pivot connection on the shears was rusted. Its not possible to adequately dry them to prevent rust, and the material that is used for the pivot does not appear to be stainless steel, as thats the only part that did rust. The holster was the best part of the item. Easily slid a strap on the BCD through the holster's belt loop to carry it along on dives, just wish there was a less rustable shears.

I would not buy this again

Aluminum dissolved in Salt water after a couple of dives.

Gets the job done

I picked up 2 of these to replace my line cutter that rusted if you breathed on it. I read reviews about these rusting so I put a drop or 2 of oil in between the blades onto the bolt each dive day and also drop them into a bowl of white vinegar for 10 minutes or so at the end of the day. 10 fresh water dives later no rust. As far as functionality they work as expected. I like the case though I wish it was made of sturdier material, because of that I wouldn't attach anything on the its plastic D ring. But for the price hey and as an extra bonus its easy to open with 5mm gloves. I haven't had issues with the shears falling out and really can't see how they would unless your wresting an octopus or flinging your gear onto the boat from space. I use the second shears case to hold my knife

nice shears

from Great north, NH, US

Great shears for all around use.

Does the Job

Seems strange to review a pair of scissors but here is what I think. They are cheap, built well and operate well. They come with a sheath that can be hooked to a clip on your BC but I wouldnt trust that as it appears the scissors could fall out in the right circumstances. Rinse and dry them after every dive or they will rust.

Good shears, great price

The shears themselves are of good quality, the holster seems it needs a strap to go through the shears to hold them in place better. But for the price, this is a great product.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
DTR D  Need to debur that Lionfish - makes handling them much safer - Why handle them....Lionfish make great eating :)
LINDA H  You can't bring a knife into some Marine Parks but there may still be some fishing line, etc. that has drifted into the area. Shears are a great alternative to a knife for keeping you safe from entanglement undewater.
MICHAEL J M  Needed a cutting tool that could go through security in carry-on.
ROBERT B  Easier to maintian than a dive knife and more effective.
ROBERT B  must have for lake erie fish nets, and some quarries fish lines in sunken trees, and if you want to get rid of bad dive buddies!!just a joke.
ALLEN S  These shears cut line reliably and safely in tight quarters. The best place for the holster is a B.C. strap.
WILLIS R C  Because of the sheath and as part of my cutting tools to avoid entanglement. It will cut some metal fishing leaders. It is an additional safety tool.
KENNETH R  A must have - always within a moment's reach on our BC's. Cuts monofilament and many other potentially fouling lines.
TRAVIS K  Handy little shears. Mine have NEVER rusted after 400-500 dives in both fresh and salt water.
CINDY E  I returned this (don't recall ever getting my refund though). Was much larger than I expected and wanted.
Doug D  Does the sheath only attach via the D ring, or is there a belt loop as well?
MICHAEL R  There is also a belt loop. And, not that you asked, but I thought this was a great value.
JAMES C  Yes, there is a nice belt loop on the back side of the scabbard. they seem to be nice scissors...
NICK K  Yes there is a belt loop
