At the beginning it was hard to make it sound. Just after 3 days of using it, it stops working... no sound at all. Don't waste your money.

Finally used it!

By

from Hoi An, Hoi An, VN

I am becoming a PADI divemaster and while assisting in a dive and taking a diver to surface, I needed to get the boats deckhands attention. I used the signaling device and low and behold they were able to hear me and I was able to signal that the diver was headed to the boat so that I can continue the dive with the other three divers still underwater. You really need to depress the lever so that it can be 100 volume!

awkward to use and not very loud

By

from Key West, FL, US

I wanted to love this but... have tried mounting it on my BCD different ways, but still awkward to reach the "noise making button". Also, not loud enough underwater. A waste of $40 plus dollars. Maybe the more expensive ones work better?

Works great, but press hard!

By

from Columbia, MD, US

I've been very satisfied with this purchase -- the secret is to press the unit hard! A gentle tap will elicit almost no noise. You have to press like you mean it, and then it's plenty loud.

Good enough

The trick to this device is how to use it. I noticed that if I just pushed the red button the quacking noise (underwater noise) would be faint, but if I grabbed the device firmly and pressed the red button it would make a loud quacking noise undewater. The reason for this I believe is because this device works by vibrating metal discs internally by means of air. If the device is garabbed firmly this allows the discs to vibrate properly and make the proper noise it was intended to deliver. Not grabbing the device firmly disperses the vibration throughout your hose and not the discs. Try it and you will be gald you did. I use this device mostly for letting my dive buddies know I have found a lobster so stop swimming and wait up, but it can be used for almost anything.

chad f  Will this device fit on a Zeagle Octo-Z? I believe the QD needs to be bigger. I have the other one and it does not fit, too small/narrow. I just installed it on my wife's ScubaPro S6 reg. Thanks in advance! Thanks in advance!
FORTIS F  I have no idea. Mine quit working and I tried to rebuild it still doesn't work. when it worked it was great.
APRIL K  Don't know as I use all Oceanic gear.
Steven P  I have a Aqualung Dimension i3 BCD, can i use it with this BCD (the inflator is at the bottom right of the BCD)?
HARVEY C  I have used an Aqualung i3 BCD for years, and I love it. I attached an separate LP hose to power my Dive Alert signal horn. The Dive Alert, like the Scub Alert, has both an input connector and an output connector, so I can also use the output connector to inflate my SMB. You can also stack the Scub Alert underwater signal and the Dive Alert in tandem on the same LP hose. Just make sure that the LP hose has the same type connector as the Scub Alert and any other gear (like a Dive Alert) that you wish to connect; there are (I think) 2 different connector standards.
HARVEY C  To clarify-- the separate LP hose is attached to the regulator 1st stage, not to the BCD.
JULIE K  I don't know. My BCD is a Pearl. My advice is to contact Aqualung.
