If you have a hose mount instrument and no longer wish to have it dangling from the hose exposed to knocks and dings and would prefer it "closer to the vest" then you need an Akona Hose Mount Retractor. Retractor allows you to place any hose mount instrument in a convenient location on your BCD. Simply install your computer, compass or depth gauge on the retractor bracket and you're set. Retractor is equipped with two choices of mounting clips that easily attach to your BCD.
You can choose from a plastic snap clip or stainless key ring. Both come complete with quick disconnect fitting allowing you to remove retractor and instrument from BCD after the dive for safe storage. When you need to take a read from your instrument simply pull the self-retracting cable to desired length and when finished it will automatically retract the cable for you.

I cannot figure out how to install my compass on this. It is a compass that came with a wrist or hose mount option. Is there a picture or video anywhere with instructions?
DAVID W
It is meant for a hose mount compass. There should be two "prongs" on the base of the compass that were supposed to go over the hose. Those slide into the two crescent inner openings on the retractor. Then there is a knob that tightens down on those (which would have locked the compass onto the hose) but is not tightening the compass onto the retractor.

Can anyone provide a picture of this on the hose? I want to see exactly how this is mounted onto the hose.
YAN G
This is not a hose mount, it allows the attachment of a hose mount boot to this retractor so you can then clip it off to your BC.

I bought the Akona Hose Mount Retractor, thinking that i could attach my pressure gauge to it. the item didn't come with any instructions on how to attach anything to the mount... does one use zip ties?? I may have bought the wrong thing, but i can't for the life of me work out how this is supposed to be used --- as i say, no instructions. hope you can help.

This item takes a gauge that would be placed into a hosemount boot, that type of boot attaches directly to this retractor.

Why Did You Choose This?
RICHARD A
Works great and keeps compass out of the way but readily available.

I had bought this product previously and its good quality retractable. It still hasn't given up on me and I had it for 5 years already.
