About Black Silicone Regulator Mouthpiece

There are several items that are essential when putting together a save-a-dive kit, cylinder valve O-rings, fin straps, buckles, etc. One of the most important items is the spare regulator mouthpiece. This standard black silicone mouthpiece is universal and will fit a large variety of regulators out there. Mouthpiece is soft and comfortable. Don't let a bad mouthpiece be the cause of a leaking regulator always carries a spare. Oh Yea! Don't forget the tie wraps to attach it with! See: SKU AQUTW10 Tie Wrap.

Take a bite

Bought this in prep for my vacay in the Philippines last year. Fits perfectly well with the rental reg and secure it with a zip tie just in case ifacing a strong current or a noob accidentally yank your reg or hose caught in any object. Not too fatiguing in the jaw. Just the right bite for me.

Soft+Flimsy = difficult to use

The Aqua Regulator black Mouthpiece was easy to install, fits in large and small mouths, tastes fine, and breathes fine. However, it is soft and flimsy which means that it slips from my mouth and the Octopus Holder with Split Ring (The one that looks like a mouthpiece glove). There is even some jaw discomfort from biting down to hold it in place and it has slipped out of my mouth several times. A more firm material works much better.

You get what you pay for

The edges of the mouthpeice that go between your lips and teeth, should be a little wider. It barely stays in your mouth. Perhaps because it is made of silicone and not rubber. Other than that, it works fine.

Soft, comfortable and lightweight

The material is very soft and comfortable. It is quite lightweight. When used with a lightweight regulator it works quite well. However, on heavier regulators it would cause discomfort and feel flimsy.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
NEAL R G  Very good design
MICHAEL B  Every diver should have at least 2 of these in their spare parts kit.
Kenneth R  Will this work with a Sherwood Regulator?
GINA I  Yes
NORMAN R  I haven't tried it on my Brute (Sherwood) reg because I sold it a long time ago but it do fit in with the genesis reg I rented when I went diving in the Philippines last year. I replace the mouthpiece of any rental reg every chance I have. Just carry extra zip ties just in case. Even with a snug fit, i zip tied them just to make sure they would not come off especially when facing a strong current. Happy diving!
Shopper  where do your lips go?
DAVID D  Teeth lightly bite the two bite tabs, the lips wrap around the flanges.
Steve S  The mouthpiece will be held in place by lightly biting down on the tabs and your lips will go around the outside.
DORIS J  Around the outside,
RICK C  This is a replacement mouth piece for existing scuba regulator. You unclip the old one( cut the pull tie) and replace with a new pull tie. You place the mouth piece in your mouth with the block nibs on your back teeth. Then seal lips around the outer curved ridge. Don’t bite block nibs just let them rest on your teeth. The mouth piece stays in your mouth by keeping your lips lightly sealed on the out ridge. I personally like these mouth pieces they hold up well in the environment and are comfortable.
