I used this spear for rock cods and it failed miserably. When I charged the spear and let it loose at the rock cod, it seemed to tickle it. The fish did not even swim away. I tried it the second time by twisting the band to generate more force and it did not penetrate either. The spearhead was really sharp but it just did not pack enough power. I will try it again with a thicker and stronger elastic band and see if it will be more effective.

**I can not comment on its effectiveness towards its intended use on lion fish. **

Comments about Aqua Lionfish Mini Spear with Tip:

Have owned a few of these spears, but this was the first one with a 6 pointed trident (others only had 3 points). very accurate and makes it easier to kill smaller lionfish, but be careful with it new because it is VERY sharp. also, the first time my boyfriend used it he got stung trying to get the fish off the spear because it really holds them on. will probably file off the barbs on the tips so it is easier to get fish off, but with 6 points there is no worry of them getting off themselves.

First time I lined up a lionfish I nailed it. Same with the second time. Third time I hit one in the rear and it got away.

          Good weapon. Does the job.

Comments about Aqua Lionfish Mini Spear with Tip:

This is the perfect size to travel with. Fits in my dive bag without worrying about bending or damaging. Excellent penetration for the size.

Only thing I do not like is that it did not come with a covering for the points. I cut a wine cork in half length wise to remedy this
