About Doc's Proplugs Vented Combo Pack

Doc's Proplugs Combo Packs are designed to fit a range of sizes. Each combo pack contains four (4) pairs of Proplugs (one for each size of the set):

Adult (18 years & up) - Includes one pair of each of the following sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large.
Youth (6-17 years) - Includes one pair of each of the following sizes: medium small, small, medium, and large.

Doc's Proplugs can prevent swimmers ear, and ear pain by blocking water from entering the ears, keeping ears warm and preventing the flushing of water in and out of the ear. Ear pain and infection are caused by cold exposure and erosion of delicate skin and wax in the ear canal.

Upon descent, Proplugs prevent water from entering the ear down to 20 feet in depth. Once the diver enters greater depths, water will be allowed into the ear for equalization. Unlike other earplugs, ours includes a Scott's valve which allows ears to equalize easily and let sound in. Our Proplugs have been used by hundreds of divers for over thirty years who testify that Proplugs are the earplugs for divers.

Equalization with Doc's Proplugs: Doc's Proplugs have also been used by divers who have trouble equalizing. Unlike other earplugs which are solid and would not be recommended for diving, Proplugs are vented to allow equalization. While the small vent allows equalization to occur it does not allow debris to enter and it prevents earwax from washing out which exposes delicate ear tissue. The Proplugs keep ears warm by storing the head's conductive heat; the warmth provided by the plugs drastically reduces the risk of thermal shock. Due to surface tension the vented plug also reduces abrupt pressure changes from reaching the sensitive eardrum which contributes to easier equalization. Clear ears often to allow air to escape through the Proplugs vent and allow for better equalization. Proplug wearers who have trouble clearing their ears should check to make sure a lump of ear wax is not blocking the canal or butting up against the vent. If the vent is fouled by debris while descending it is best to remove the Proplug. If fouled while ascending, there is no problem because the air and water under pressure can escape around the Proplug. Hundreds of divers have attested to the benefits of Proplugs for relieving pressure in their ear during descent.

I bought the vented plugs as a backup to my Pro Ear 2000 Mask after being diagnosed with a perforated ear drum prior to a trip to Turks & Caicos. I had used the mask in the past and knew it worked as long at my hair was very short and the mask ear cups were seated properly. I didn't want to take a chance though so I got the vented plugs as a precaution. Glad I did. The mask didn't leak through 8 dives but the plugs added confidence that if it did I was safe. My ears easily equalized on dives to 100 ft. I also used the plugs for swimming in the ocean with my family and the inner ear stayed dry the entire time. They fit snugly and can be worn with confidence. Make sure you fit them properly though and get then vented plugs, they are worth it! For divers or snorkelers with ear issues, get Doc's Vented Proplugs and the Pro Ear 2000 Mask. Well worth the price. Only downside, when worn for extended lengths of time my ears hurt slightly but felt fine after removing.

I have frequently used a similar product that I purchased from various dive shops, and I was very disappointed to find out that when I ordered these, there is no teather string to tie the plugs to the masks so in case they fall out, which they often do, you will not loose them. I fear in using non-teather plugs as I will likely loose them after the first dive!

Make sure to buy tethered plugs, but otherwise a good product.

Comments about Aqua Doc's Proplugs Vented Combo Pack:

My son has struggled with swimmers ear/ ear pain all summer. We thought it couldn't hurt to try these and we were so right! I wish we had purchased them years ago. He is now pain free and always in the pool. He swims all the time so these will help us for many years to come. He uses them now to snorkel and it is allowing him to do things more often and longer then he ever could before.

It took a while to figure out how to make them work without leaking but the small adjustment time was well worth the effort.

Comments about Aqua Doc's Proplugs Vented Combo Pack:

This item does what it claims…it allows gentle equilibration as you ascend and descend, so the ear drum doesn't have to pop and stretch, causing pain. I've always had to limit my number of daily dives to two or max out at three on a few days, followed by pain and stoppage in my Eustacian tube to one ear and tympanic membrane pain. These essentially keep my ear pressure about ten feet or so behind my actual dive level, allowing a slow gentle pressure change. Now I can make three or more dives daily, and avoid any pain.
I do like the ones with the fishing line that keeps them together, but otherwise, these are perfect, offering a large selection of size in one pack. I can buy these and fit both myself and my wife from one set, saving money.
