About Dive Alert Signaling Device

DiveAlert is a specially designed, small, light weight air horn that uses quick-connect/disconnect hose couplings to become an integrated part of your power inflator, breathable/inflator and buoyancy compensator. Installation is easy and only takes a moment.

Why have DiveAlert? What would you do in a diving emergency if you needed to get the attention of the pick-up boat or someone else on the water's surface? Before DiveAlert SCUBA divers had relied on whistles or a SMB (surface marker buoy) as their only signaling devices in such an emergency. But if the diver is disabled and can't blow into a whistle (or deploy the SMB) the whistle makes no sound at all. Or if the boat operator is not looking in the direction of a diver with a SMB deployed (if the diver was able to even deploy the SMB) the diver goes un-noticed.

Equally frustrating (and dangerous), if a diver needs to attract the attention of someone who is too far away to hear the whistle, the whistle is of no help. In contrast, Dive Alert enables divers, at the mere touch of a button, to generate a blast of sound that can be heard up to a mile away!

There are three different models available; one for approximately 85% of standard power inflator mechanisms model DA1. There are several breathable/inflator mechanisms that require a larger coupling for a higher flow of air so there are two models to accommodate them. The model DA2X and the modelDA3X (see list below).

Installation is easy and takes only a moment. Dive Alert does not require any modification of your other equipment, and it does not interfere in any way with its normal operation. When you need to get someone's attention on the water's surface, you simply press a button and Dive Alert uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a piercingly 132db loud sound; even as little as 100 psi (6.9 bars) will give you a full-throated screech. Dive Alert can be heard from 1 mile (1.6 km) away.

Don't leave home without it

Added security when open water diving. Louder than a typical whistle so your chances of being heard on the surface are much greater.

VS

Most Liked Negative Review

User manual:"It won't work underwater"!!

The user manual says "It will not work underwater". This is not a dive alert, this is a surface alert. This is not mentioned in the product description. I bought this to use it "underwater". Seriously, I want my money back!

signaling device

By

from panama, panama, PA

my dive buddy has one of these and i know first hand how loud and effective it can be in open water so i decided i better have one "just in case' - i have not had to use it yet in a live situation but testing it in a closed room is not recommended - it is very very loud

So I got the dive alert signaling device. I thought it was like the "quacker" type. Nope it's a piercing loud whistle. It blows bubbles under water. Also, the device makes your BCD hose stick way out so steam lined gone. But it does work if you need the boats attention. I'm a paraplegic and for me we did a dive in Puerto Rico. I went down with it in my be pocket. The current pushed me so far from the boat (started against the current. Half tank later swam back with current.) went to the boat the rope at the end was all full of bodies so I was just chilling talking to my friends and wife. Next thing we know we know we are a good 200 yards from the boat. We use an SMB and whistles. I pull out the dive alert. They heard that and came to get us. It was a nice device. If only if would work under water so I could get my friends attention.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
TARA B  We dive very conservatively and it only made sense to have a signaling device in case we should ever be separated from the dive boat and need to signal for it.
PAMELA N  Purchased for open water surface signaling device. It's loud! And it connects to my Scubapro Air 2.
WILLIS R C  I swear by these. I once used mine to signal our boat, which was close to a mile a way with the boat driver sleeping. He was saving gas. It was a fly-by-night dive operation in Jamamca, and they put us in extremely dangerous surf on a drift dive. I saved the lives of the dive guide who was so scared he was almost crying, my scared wife and myself, who I thought knew I wouldn't make it. Don't point them at people next to you; they will damage ear drums.
SANDY R  needed additional one as a backup.
Antonio A  I have had one of these before, gave me many years of good service and helped calling the boats attention several times over the years, I feel much more confortable with it, you can hear from very far away, in fact it is so loud you have to hide your head underwater when you are going to blow it.
Douglas S  I went to an OCTO Z regulator on my BCD inflator hose that requires a larger flow QD fitting so I needed another Dive alert. I have a standard one I have used for years and would not be without one . I am traveling to Indonesia and will be doing a lot of current dives and night dives. This is a must have safety item
ocpaul o  Required on Cocos Island trip
JACOB R  as an added safety device.
TERRELL P  for safety
DAVID C  I want to be heard from a distance very loud!
JAMES S  Saw one demonstrated and concluded it was better than a whistle,
CHRISTOPHER B  I've never had to use this in an emergency, but I can attest that it is very loud and I imagine can be heard a great distance. It is a little bulky and heavy, but I think that's a fair tradeoff for the ability to signal. I've had it in silt and sand with no problem.
HENNY B  They are good while they last but seems to break after a year or two and nthen need to purchase another one.
KEN L  I dive in Hatteras and I have this JUST IN CASE I would come up far from the boat down currrent. It is loud and a nice safety piece to have.
ROBERT C  This thing is LOUD. Cover your ears if you test it, and don't do it indoors. Your ears will be ringing if you do. If you test it in the water, put your head under the water to cover your ears.
JOHN B  Nice loud whistle.
RAY T  I had purchased these before and they work great.
RICK W  Pretty weak horn. I have only had to use it once, but I was not impressed. A whistle was almost as loud.
KENNETH R  Absolutely the loudest, best air-powered signalling device. Be very careful when putting this on your LP inflater hose - a small amount of residual pressure in the hose is enough to make a short but deafening blast (painful when you are leaning over your BC!).
PAUL D  Because I needed a dependable signaling device with all the boat diving I do. It is a really good product.
RONALD Z  It is an effective signal device, if needed, to alert for help. Safety is always first with me when diving.
PAUL R  Good product, a must for a solo diver in his own boat, this being a surface alert only.
Shopper  which one fits Atomic SSi?
Frank L  DA3X.
BRIAN M  Wouldn't buy this, mine broke already. Seals apparently rot after just a few years
Doug K  Will this work on the Aqua Lung i3 series BC's like the Axiom and the Soul ?
STEPHEN S  Yes it attaches to the inflater hose of the BC
JAMES M  it should work...I love this product. greatly improves safety....I was left drifting at dusk for over one hour. never will i drift dive without it.
Doug K  the i3's have the disconnect on the side of the BC, not sure if there is any interference with the location vs the standard power inflator BC connection.
