About Dive Alert Signaling Device

DiveAlert is a specially designed, small, light weight air horn that uses quick-connect/disconnect hose couplings to become an integrated part of your power inflator, breathable/inflator and buoyancy compensator. Installation is easy and only takes a moment.

Why have DiveAlert? What would you do in a diving emergency if you needed to get the attention of the pick-up boat or someone else on the water's surface? Before DiveAlert SCUBA divers had relied on whistles or a SMB (surface marker buoy) as their only signaling devices in such an emergency. But if the diver is disabled and can't blow into a whistle (or deploy the SMB) the whistle makes no sound at all. Or if the boat operator is not looking in the direction of a diver with a SMB deployed (if the diver was able to even deploy the SMB) the diver goes un-noticed.

Equally frustrating (and dangerous), if a diver needs to attract the attention of someone who is too far away to hear the whistle, the whistle is of no help. In contrast, Dive Alert enables divers, at the mere touch of a button, to generate a blast of sound that can be heard up to a mile away!

There are three different models available; one for approximately 85% of standard power inflator mechanisms model DA1. There are several breathable/inflator mechanisms that require a larger coupling for a higher flow of air so there are two models to accommodate them. The model DA2X and the modelDA3X (see list below).

Installation is easy and takes only a moment. Dive Alert does not require any modification of your other equipment, and it does not interfere in any way with its normal operation. When you need to get someone's attention on the water's surface, you simply press a button and Dive Alert uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a piercingly 132db loud sound; even as little as 100 psi (6.9 bars) will give you a full-throated screech. Dive Alert can be heard from 1 mile (1.6 km) away.

This thing almost saved my and my buddie's life last weekend. Doing a night dive in heavy currents we came up only 50 yards from our boat and although we swam for our lives, I was unable to reach the boat in about 20 minutes of sprint-swimming, which just about killed me. My buddy, who had bigger fins, was able to reach the boat eventually and we were able to self-rescue.

However durring the last minutes of our sprint-swim, I was able to successfully get the attention of a passing boat that was a good 400-500 yards away (way out of rech of a whistle). Even over his engine noise, he was able to hear the high-pitch sound and cut his engine. I was then able to tap out an S.O.S. and signal him with my dive light. Had my buddy not reached the boat (which he did by a miracle), I would say that this thing saved our lives. Given how small and non-abtrucive it is, I now consider it a MUST-HAVE on all dives. My only CON on this product is that the red button is very close and very simular to my red BC inflator button. I have not done it yet, but I know that I will accidently trigger it one day and the noise (if your head is not under water) is loud enough to almost make your ears bleed!

Comments about Dive Alert Signaling Device:

So I got the dive alert signaling device. I thought it was like the "quacker" type. Nope it's a piercing loud whistle. It blows bubbles under water. Also, the device makes your BCD hose stick way out so steam lined gone. But it does work if you need the boats attention. I'm a paraplegic and for me we did a dive in Puerto Rico. I went down with it in my be pocket. The current pushed me so far from the boat (started against the current. Half tank later swam back with current.) went to the boat the rope at the end was all full of bodies so I was just chilling talking to my friends and wife. Next thing we know we know we are a good 200 yards from the boat. We use an SMB and whistles. I pull out the dive alert. They heard that and came to get us. It was a nice device. If only if would work under water so I could get my friends attention.

Comments about Dive Alert Signaling Device:

Saved my life once! We were diving in Cozumel.... in a fast current that was pulling the group far away from the island. Local hired DM had NO way of signaling the boat which could not see us at all and was searching a good mile away from our location. I gave out several blasts on this little baby over the course of 30 seconds.... and the boat heard it (they later told me!) and turned our way and found us being carried away from the island! It saved our lives! Will never dive without one!

I burn 7 tanks a day, 3 days each week.. The boat is all over the place while I look for urchins. This is a great noise maker. I have 7 broken horns now, and I am going to buy 2 new ones.. I love it when it works; and I hate when it breaks.. kelp is death to this horn.. even bran new.. Never let your life depend on this product... good diving to all

Loud piercing beep. Can be heard from very far away. Keep your head below the water when you press the button or your ears will be ringing for 10 minutes. A must have for any open water diving application.
