About Apollo Bio Fins Pro C-Series with Stainless Steel Fin Strap

Apollo was the first manufacturer to recognize the potential of Split-Fin Technology. Every major dive company now offers some form of Split-Fin. In a sea of imitators Apollo's Bio-Fin Series has continually taken top honors. Every model Bio-Fin submitted to Scuba Diving Magazine (SDM) for annual review has rated "Testers' Choice". With eight consecutive wins, Apollo's Bio-Fin Series is clearly the fin to beat.

The Apollo Bio-Fin standards of 100% Rubber and 20 degree Angle help this Fin provide Excellent Performance, Low Strain, and Reduced Air Consumption. Some people feel that the more Rigid Blade makes it Respond Slightly Quicker to Direction Changes and Alternate Kicking Styles. It is an excellent choice for very Strong Kickers as the more Rigid Blade provides a Stronger Resistance and more Traditional Paddle Fin Feel. Apollo's Split Fin design is consistently rated as the Fasted Fin in the Water providing Excellent Maneuverability and Position Control.

The Bio Fin Increases Bottom Time, Improves Ability to Swim Against Strong Currents, Increased Comfort and Enjoyment, Improves Performance and Comfort on the Surface, Increases Maximum Speed, Improves Cruise Speed, Improves Safety, Improves Efficiency for Free Divers, Improves Performance for Underwater Photographers, Improves Efficiency for Cave and Wreck Divers, Improves Accessibility and Efficiency for Student Divers, and Improved Accessibility to Injured and Disabled Divers.

The Apollo Open Heel Bio Fin comes with a Set of Stainless Steel Fin Straps. These Durable, Coiled Spring Straps are extremely Rust and Breakage Resistant. The Spring Strap Automatically Adjusts to changing conditions; No Stopping to Tighten-Down a Loose Strap! The Straps have a Rugged Rubber Grip with Finger Loop that is Easy to Access, even with thick gloves. Best fin I've ever used (update)

(This review is an update of an earlier one. Sorry to be so long winded but I have been able to try some other brands of "Natures Wing" split fins in the interim. I'm still 100% sold on my Apollos but others might find a different brand more to their liking.)I'll preface this by saying that the split fin technology used in these fins is licensed by Nature's Wing to Apollo, ScubaPro, Atomic, TUSA, Oceanic, Dacor, Sherwood, Beuchat and Genesis. Any of these manufacturers that claims to have a...

Service was great as always

Best purchase in long time, love the spring straps

Service was great as always

Great fin - supplies amazing power!

Did about 25 dives with these fins. First split fins I've owned. Wow! I definitely have more power. You can really feel it. I didn't find any increased maneuvering ability however. But when current hit - I was the only one who could get through it (and I'm not normally a strong swimmer). I can't compare to other split fins - but if you're like me and are upgrading from rentals, you will be impressed, albeit a little lighter in the wallet. I got the version with the pull on stainless steel straps. Amazingly easy to pull on/off. Love that! But the rubber surrounding the straps is starting to tear in spots after only a few dozen dives. But it doesn't appear it will tear all the way through. Still a little disconcerting. Biggest issue I have with these fins is weight. These guys are heavy! Still, if you want the power... guess you have to put up with it. btw, the fins are 22" long. Just too long to fit in a carry-on bag. So you have to carry them in a larger bag - or in a backpack like I did.

Fantastic Fins

Salesperson was VERY supportive/helpful. Product was delivered promptly, great condition.

Awesome fin ... but watch the rubber

These are the best, most efficient, most comfortable, fastest, and easiest to don fins I've owned and used for recreational and scientific diving/snorkeling. Just be sure and check the rubber before your 1-year warranty expires! Right at two years, while showing them to another diver, I noticed significant deterioration (picture attached). I took great care of them and stored them inside my home. Apollo was very helpful and offered me a new pair at half the MSRP (no shipping), which they would send out upon receipt of my defective fins (shipping at my cost, and they would then return the spring fittings). I didn't want to do without them, and for just a few dollars more was able to get another new pair from Leisure Pro, leaving me the deteriorating pair as spares for snorkeling. Hurts to buy another pair so soon, but my buddies and I love them!

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WILLIS R C  Both my wife & I have a pair and have found them great for diving. I used to have Scubapro Jetfins and like these much better. I also got them with the metal-coiled heal strap. I was tired of rubber fin straps snapping on me while diving over the past 40-years.
MARK N  best fins made
RANDY K  Best performance ratings year over year. Wanted to try split fins and I went with the best.
KENNETH W  My son tried mine and won't give them back.
WILLIAM R  Outstanding fin. Works good with current.
DERIN K  Fastest fins ever
Erin O  reviews
Melissa W  Female (regular shoe size 9) What size fin should I get? (I will be wearing a hard sole boot)
BILLY N  I wear a mens size 9 hard sole & have the large fins that is very adequate, size wise, with room to spare. The fins, with the constant tension of the spring straps are so much different than the standard style adjustible straps that a little extra room is not felt or a problem. Too tight of a fit would be. I would adjust size selection by mens/womens size 9 difference.
SINH V  I am not sure, my boot size is #8 (man), And I am wearing size Medium, a bit too loose, I have to cut the spring shorter, I think you should get size Small, hope this will help
ANDREA C  Hi Melissa W, My shoe size is a 7 1/2 and I have medium sized Bio Fins. I bought them in 2007. I wear boots as well for tropical diving and DUI rock boots for cold water diving. My tropical boots fit just fine, but the rock boots are a tight fit, but still work. These fins are great, especially with the steel strap. Easy on, easy off. Hope this helps.
Shopper  What size fin would you recommend when used with men's 8 hard soled boots?
BRUCE C  I don't know how much help I can provide. Leisure Pro asked for my advice since I purchased Pinnacle Hard Soled Boots and the Apollo C Series through them. I have size 11 hard soles and the Large sized Bio fins. (L) If I remember correctly from when I ordered them together several years ago, size 11 was on the border between Large and Extra Large. They were a VERY tight fit when I purchased them, which leads me to believe they cater towards the smaller end when between two close sizes. Mens 7-8 (S) 8-9(M) 9-11(L) 11-13+(XL) Therefore, If you purchase the small, it will be a VERY tight fit for you. It probably has less likelihood of ever falling off, but it is much more difficult to get on/off in the water (and I felt a bit scared it might break at first due to tension). However, it is very well made, and I have had no issues. If you are on the larger side for shoes (i.e. you wear an 8.5, or might sometimes wear a 9) you may want to consider the Medium. The other difference is that (L) is a range of three sizes, and (XL) is a range of three sizes. Therefore, the accommodating differential is a lot higher within the larger sizes and may give too much extra space. That was my primary reason in selecting the lower option for my purchase. Since the other two size variations (S/M) only span a difference of two sizes each, the differences in fit will not be as noticeable. Go with the medium, and if it feels too loose, send it back in for the small. Leisure Pro has excellent customer service. Hope I helped.
WILLIAM G  That should be a medium. Large starts at size 9. See apollosportsusa dot com for their sizing chart.
DAVE D  Not sure on size but I would tend to go bigger than smaller. You want to be able to pop them right of when your getting on a boat or in difficult surf. Love these fins!
JAMES W  I wear a 9 in sneakers & hard sole boots (my booties are 8) & my Apollo Fins are a size medium. Hope this helps; they're great fins.
CARROLL M  Maybe you can deduce something from our experience. My wife uses a large with her size 9 hard sole boots. This is a little snug but manageable by 1 diver. I use a LL with my size 13 hard sole boots. The fit is so snug that I require help getting the fins both on and off unless I go to a soft sole.
STACEY C  My husband wears an 8 1/2 to 9 and the large fit well with the boots.
