I intend to use this only as a skin, but it would also work great by itself in warm water (>85F).

Is this Skin have good enough insulating and wicking properties to be used as an undergarment in neoprene drysuit?
FABRIZZIO C
it depends on the temperature you are going to use it. I usually dive in the caribean with the water on 28 to 31, this suit is perfect for that. I also use in the galapagos under a 7mm and was very confortable. the temprature there was around 19 to 21.

All I can say is that I either wear a lycra or this akona, period...no wet suit. The akona is warmer for me than a lycra when water temps are 78-81
under a dry suit, it should provide some additional warmth
DARRELL B
I can't comment on the insulation value under a neoprene drysuit as I have dive with a trilam. I do use it under my insulating garments when wearing that suit however, and it does have good wicking properties. It in itself is not something that would provide much insulation/warming. It is much heavier that the normal lycra skin however. Hope this helps.
PETER C
YES, I have two of these suits and love them.
CATHERINE I
I think so for sure ! It's quite warm! I use under my wetsuit in Monterey! Hope it helps !
JOYCE M
i'm short fat woman. if waist fits, what do I do about excess length? thanks.
DARRELL B
You can push or roll up the wrists/legs or cut and hem it.
DAWN T
Im sure a local tailor could size up the garment.
KRISTIN P
This suit is really soft and stretchy. I'd almost say get the length you need, unless it's just too small in your mind. Otherwise, get the size waist you need and just gather the extra length on the legs.

I am 5 foot 4 and at the time I bought it 230/lbs and all the weight in my tummy. I am a scuba diver and have never had a suit fit properly. I bought this one for a trip to Hawaii. I was so happy!! It fits perfectly and the pretty color is feminine not just ugly black. I would recommend it highly!!!
CYNTHIA M
on mine, I just let them bunch up. I also had another suit altered. You have to find someone that works with neoprene.
Apryl B
WIll this product prevent contact dermatitis? This is allergic skin rashes caused from neoprene
DARRELL B
I will keep the neoprene off of most of your skin.
JUNE H
This product is made from fleece-lined Lycra, so it should work for you.

is it very thick?
warmer?
TRACY K
It is thicker than a lycra dive skin, but not as thick as neoprene. I felt it was warmer and offered more protection than a skin with out the need to add weight.
JOSHUA C
No, it is not thick. It is like spandex, not like a neoprene wetsuit.
PAUL D
No not thick, definitely a warm weather suit with minimal insulation
SANDRA T
It's only slightly thicker than a Lycra skin. Good for tropical diving. Fits well.
JUNE H
It is a fleece-lined Lycra suit. Very stretchable and comfortable. It will be perfect by itself for tropical diving or as an extra layer for 3, 5 or 7 mm suit.
THOMAS L
Thin. Dive skin only for jelly fish and minor abrasion protection. No real thermal advantage.
HELAINE L
no, not thick at all. but cozy. i returned it as it was hard to zip up the back, so never wore it in the water.
WILLIAM D
I believe it is thin with movability, and is warmer than bear skin for sure. I mainly use it for photography in real warm waters for protection against jelly fish stings and coral. If I get cold for the second dive I have put on my 3 mm akona farmer john top over it that matches it well.
CHRISTOPHER R
It is not super thin, however it is thin enough to fit under a 3 or 7 mil. I don't think it really adds a lot more warmth. It does reduce the sticky feeling of a wet suit and helps with the donning / removal.
VICTOR L
no it is perfect, good for FL and Caribbean
a great suit
JOHN E
I love my Akona skin so much that I bought a second one! It is thicker than my lycra skin but not too thick to wear under my 3& 5 mil wet suits. It makes such a huge difference in me staying warm. I dove in just this skin in Cayman in October. Water temp was 80-82F. It's truly one of the best skins I've ever owned!

I am buying this for my wife (yes Christmas) I am not sure what size to buy. She is 5'1" 128# 35 chest what is the recommendation?
JUDE S
That should work. I'm a guy and went off of the recommendations and mine fits great but keep in mind, it is a wet suit so it's going to fit snug.
JUNE H
I recommend size XS
SHOSHANA H
I'd go with the x-small. I am about the same size and it fit fine!
SANDRA T
I love this akona skin. I'm 5'4 and weigh 127. I bought a small and it fits perfectly. It has a lot of stretch and should be fine for your wife.
CHRISTINA N
I am 5'0 110 lbs and i bought an xs. i think this would fit your wife because there is soo much more room to stretch. with my size chest 34/35 waist 25/26 aand hips 35 it is not stretching that much
