About Akona Quantum Stretch Men's 3mm Jumpsuit (AKMS209)

Akona understands the importance of reducing dependence on oil-derived chemicals. Akona's earth-friendly neoprene uses limestone that is over 99.7% calcium and does not rely on oil as extensively as petroleum-based neoprene. So, if you're environmentally conscious the Akona Quantum Stretch suit is for you! Akona wetsuits features a full length molded Delrin zipper and a #10 YKK marine-grade brass slider back zipper entry with a pull tab leash for easy self-donning and doffing. This superior combination of zipper and slider is the ultimate in corrosion resistance and strength. The glued-and-stitched zipper dam is "skin-out" for added seal and reduced water flushing.

The unique characteristics of the nylon weave combined with the super lightweight neoprene rubber allows Akona Quantum Stretch suits extraordinary flexibility and stretch capabilities. Standard neoprene wetsuits stretch one way but not the other. This is a limitation of the laminated nylon material necessary to construct a durable wetsuit. Through years of research and engineering, Akona's neoprene experts have developed a four-way stretch nylon weave capable of withstanding the harsh elements of diving. The closely guarded, unique lamination process and a strategically designed pattern matched with lightweight, limestone based neoprene is the science behind Akona Quantum Stretch wetsuits. The most comfortable and best fitting wetsuits in their class.

All seams are glued and blind stitched sewn for strength and durability. Suit has textured shoulders for a more secure fit of BCD and to prevent piling of the shoulder surfaces. The Akona Quantum Stretch wetsuits come with reinforced, laminated knee pads for added protection of this high wear area. Suit is available in multiple sizes.

The Akona Quantum Stretch Men's 3mm Jumpsuit (AKMS209) is commonly used for Diving and more. One reason why the Akona Quantum Stretch Men's 3mm Jumpsuit (AKMS209) is popular is because of its Easy To Put On And Off.

Good, but didn't make the cut

I bought the Cressi Spring 3.5mm XXL ($120), the Akona Men's 3mm (AKMS258) XXL ($150), and the Akona Quantum Stretch 3mm XXL ($200) all at the same time, so I could keep one and return 2. I'm 6' 1" and carrying a bit of a gut right now at 230 #. All 3 suits fit me basically fine. They pull up nicely into my groin area and snugly in my armpits. I just did my OW certification and the dive shop gave me an Oceanic Ultra 3/2 XXL to wear in the pool and the same in 7mm to wear in the quarry, which...

This is literally the most comfortable wetsuit I have ever worn, and I have worn more than a few. It slides on very easily and feels silky soft. Having worn this, I would only purchase the quantum stretch in the future. I'm a 5' 9.5" weighing 210 lbs and the large is tight, but fits.

Suit is Great, Shipping Took Too Long

By

from Gurnee, IL, US

This is a great wet suit; the quantum stretch makes for easy donning and doffing. The suit performed very well in fresh and salt water and is a great addition to my kit. Pay attention when ordering from this site, if you place your order over a Jewish holiday, it'll be delayed until the holiday is over

Firs owned wetsuit

By

from Jackson, MS, US

I'm 5ft11.75in, and 204lbs. I am a fairly new diver so this was my first wetsuit that I have purchased. I haven't had a lot of experience with wetsuits but I have tried on some on in my local dive shop. In my opinion this probably the best and easiest fitting suit I have had on. I ordered the XL and the size was true fitting. Other suits I've tried had size charts that ran small. However, the Quantum Stretch fitted me well without extra bulk. The only down side I didn't care much for with this suit is the small velcro tab underneath the larger one. It seems to get in the way when zipping the suit. This is only a minor nuisance. I'm looking forward to training more and diving in it really soon.

Comfortable fit - in my livingroom

By

from Foxborough, MA, US

I ordered the ML as I was afraid that at 5'7" & 180lbs the large would be too long. The ML fit legs however because of the stretchiness of the material it felt constricting on my chest. I reordered the Large which fits perfectly. The length is about one inch longer than the ML and isn't too long. I haven't yet gotten this wet but it feels very soft, flexible and overall is quite comfortable (in my livingroom). I'll update once I use it.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
RALPH B  excellent fit and value; I think Akona products offer excellent performance for the $$$
STEVEN R  because of reviews. was looking at scubapro but there was a few neg about the suit I was looking at. Didn't like the way scubapro are sized!
Brent H  I weigh 195 and am 6'2", I would pick the XL but the height is a little off. And getting the 2X-Large may be too bulky and defeat the purpose of the suit?
Stuart V  I'm 6' 1" and about 230. I tried the XXL It fit me well. It's very stretchy, so personally, I would go for the XXL. I think it won't be loose on you, even though you're only 195. But, if the torso of the suit is too short for you, then that will be uncomfortable. LP's return policy is great, so you can always return it if it doesn't fit right. That said, when I tried this suit, I found that the neck has a nice smoothskin seal on the inside, but the wrist, ankles, and back zipper did not have anything to help seal the suit, so I'm not sure why they bothered with the neck seal. The ends of the arms and legs have a nice binding sewn instead of just having unfinished neoprene. The zipper flap was just thin neoprene and I was able to zip the suit up by myself. Also, I'd say the picture on the website is the result of bad lighting. It looks like it's dark grey and light grey. In reality, it is black and grey and the patterning on the shoulders and back have a couple of streaks of orangeish red in them. I ended up returning this suit and getting a ScubaPro EverFlex 3/2 (size XXL). The SP fit me better and it has smoothskin seals at the neck, wrists, and ankles and a nice thick spine pad behind the zipper. So, I think (but don't KNOW, since I never dove the Akona) that the SP suit seals better and keeps me warmer than other suits of the same thickness which don't have GBS seams and seals all around.
DONNA R  Bought suit for 6'3" 235 man. Broad shoulders and chest. Had a little room in the waist, but it fit better then anything bought before.
RICHARD M  I purchased the XL about a year ago. I am 6' and weigh about 190 with a 36" waist, long in the torso, relatively short legs (30" inseam). The XL fits me fine, where a lot of suits compress me because they are short in the torso. The stretchiness of the suit helps too. Hope this helps.
Karl K  I would like to purchase wet suits for my sons. They are about 5 foot 10, weigh 175, and are quite athletic (large shoulders, small waists). I was thinking that Medium-large would be the right size. Do you agree?
TERRY W  I am 6-2 182lbs. I got the XL the L was to small.
David G  I agree. Akona jumpsuit came i bought came in the right size... As stated at the size/measure table. And if this not meet your needs you can always change. Best wishes David
SHERYL W  Personally, I took my 6'5, 230 lbs. boyfriend to a dive shop & made him try on suits to figure out what size he wears(XX LARGE ????). The Akona stretch suit fits him Perfectly!!! I hope this helps!
TOM H  The large would give them growing room without being to big. The sizes seem to be true I have the 1 and 3 mills.
Josh E  I don't think that will work. I ordered an XL and it was very very snug on me. I'm approx 5'10" and 225. Also athletic build with a small belly. I had to order a XXL which fit very nice. If it were me I would go with XL then down size from there. I just think with the athletic build they will enjoy an XL better. Hope this helps!
