Great as Under-layer!

I use these as an under-layer to my 5mm boots for winter time river snorkeling. My feet are the first to get cold, and these have bought me an extra 30-60 minutes of play time in the winter water.

Akona 1mm socks

These 1mm socks were purchased to wear under my wetsuit boots to add a layer of thermal protection. the problem with them is the fit/cut. they were not even close to being form fitting, very loose and saggy. my fix was to cut out a section at the arch of each sock and reglue them together in a shape that actually fit. then i took our another section vertically up the back to make them form fitting coming up the ankle. Its not like they were the wrong size as the shoe size was right on as far...

Its not like they were the wrong size as the shoe size was right on as far as length goes. i only reason they even got one star is that the material was what i expected and after reworking the socks, they performed well in the water.

Good buy! Buy small.

I took others advice and ordered them 2 sizes smaller. I'm size 9 and ordered size 7 socks and they fit amazing like they should. They feel great and keep me much warmer with a glove like fit but are still easy to put on.

Excellent for the price

Used these socks with full foot fins while snorkeling in Aruba. Could have used a slightly smaller size but they still worked well. Were loose and sloppy after filling up with water, but never came off. Used for walking on the beach with no problems.

This product is not only sized too big, it fits poorly. I have a 9.5 Men wide foot, and it was really bulky/baggy in the ankles. I bouth a size 9 and it would be best for a size 10. Just cut poorly. I also bought a pair of CRESSI 2.5mm non-slip boots Medium, and they not only fit perfectly, they were cut very smartly, and fold down flat as a pancake for great travel. I strongly recommend thed Cressi's instead of the Akona's. The only complain on the Cressi's is that Leisurepro said they were 3.0mm and they turned out to be 2.5mm. False advertising.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CARLY B  I chose this to act as a buffer for the reef walkers I will wear.
ROBERT M  No more cold feet
Shopper  How would these socks work for snow skiing?
LOUISE M  Hi, I have not used them for skiing, but it sound like an interesting idea. I'm pretty sure they would keep you warm. However, they will soak up moisture, so I would place a wicking layer next to the skin before these Have fun in the snow !
Mark T  They're designed for use in the water, where it doesn't matter if it's wet inside the boot. If you use it on land, you'll probably get soaked feet from sweat because there's no breathability.
PAOLO G  They are about the same thickness of a decent pair of wool socks. Only drawback will be massive sweating of the feet and all that sweat will be trapped in the socks. I use these for my free diving fins which are full pocket, but I 'm in the water so the sweating is not a factor. But they will keep your feet warm.
FREIDA S  Not sure how much warmth they would provide not being in water
OSCAR R  I bought and used them for freediving but as an occasional snow skier my ansswer would be not good because you need/want socks that will breath. These would get too warm and cause sweat and ultimately colder feet IMHO.
DAVID V  I don't really know. I'm not familiar with snow skiing, but I'm thinking they aren't the height of snow boots if that's what you're looking for. Not waterproof, either.
Jen L  What size do I order for women's size 8? Thanks!
Luis G  I don't know about women, they feel well in man's size that I asked for.
ANTHONY S  Hey Joe, I really don't know. The socks I bought for myself were I believe men's size 9. They were sized properly for me as I wear a 8 1/2 shoe. I still have those socks and use them daily.
