What a price!!

By ANTHONY M.

Let me start with I'm 6'3, 370lb, and wear a size 60 dress suit coat, 50 waist this wet suit fits me, i don't have a big belly, but definitely have one. It would fit a even taller guy. This suit looks great and fits great. The only thing is it takes some thought to get off, but gets easier the more you do it.

Great suit for the money.

By JARRETT K.

This is my second purchase of an Akona wetsuit for few reasons: Got great service out of my first one. Pretty good price and value for what you get. Akona makes larger sizes for bigger and taller divers.

Akona's Men's 3mm Nylon 2 Neoprene Jumpsuit has glued and blind stitched inside and out. Suit has an YKK #10 brass zipper in low profile water sealing zipper design. The YKK #10 brass zipper is Akona's unique zipper design utilizes dual rubber strips to additionally seal the zipper opening when closed, creating a water resistant closure. In addition, Akona's low profile zipper flap folds over the closed zipper to further seal and secure the zipper in its closed position. The reinforced pull loop at the base of the zipper and pull tab leash makes self-donning of the suit fast and easy.

Akona's uniquely designed and stylistic knee pads provide exceptional strength and durability. Unlike the stiff rubber knee pads utilized on other suits today, Akona's revolutionary knee pad material is fully flexible, and has a hydrodynamic low profile. Akona's grab shoulder material provides superior wear and scuff protection. Designed to grip a buoyancy compensator to reduce shifting, the grab shoulders create a snug and movement-free fit. The unique pattern of the grab shoulder material also prevents excessive stretching of the suit when hung to dry. Suit is available in multiple sizes and is black in color.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Stephen T  Am thinking of getting this in 3mm 3XL how many pounds of weight will I need to add?
BRYAN N  I am a 6'3" 230lb male and bought the XXL and I used 20lb. I would consider bumping up to 22lb next time.
Not G  The issue for how much weight can never be answered in a forum; you need to practice for neutral buoyancy by being neutral at 15' with your gear with no air in your BC or lungs. With a nearly empty tank, say 500 psi, with lungs half full and with no air in your BC, you should be close to neutral at the surface--floating with the water at eye level, for example--and only slightly negative at your 15-foot safety stop. Some divers will be even lighter than that, so they're neutral at 15 feet. That makes them slightly positive as they ascend to the surface, but they can counter that by holding less air in their lungs and taking only shallow breaths. With a full tank, you should be about five pounds heavier, the weight of the other 2,500 psi of air. There are sometimes reasons to be heavier. When there is a lot of surge, some extra lead helps you stay glued to the bottom, for example. But in general, buoyancy control is easiest with the minimum amount of ballast weight.
GLENN F  I'm 6'5" and weigh 235. I wear 10 pounds of weight in salt water. I only had to add about 4 pounds from my 1mm
DAWN T  Well that depends on a lot of things. Your BP? Your Fins? I felt the 3mm added almost no float.. at worst maybe 3lbs to offset it?
Shopper  I'm 5'9", 170 lbs, waist 32"-33", chest 39"-40", hip 39"-40". I'm somewhat between sizes. It looks like I could either go for a Medium/Large or Large. I'm at the top end of the Medium/Large and bottom end of the Large. Would a large fit me well? Since I live outside the U.S., I am not able to use the PPF program. Once I purchase this product, that's final.
Andrew W  I'm almost the exact same size as you and the Large fits me perfectly. Go with a Large for sure.
Andrew W  I'm nearly your size (just slightly heavier and bigger chest) and just purchased the Large of this suit. It fits me perfectly. I suggest you order the L. Good luck. (PS - I also live abroad and couldn't take adv of the PPF)
PETER G  I'm 6'0", waist 33-34, chest 41-42, and weigh about 180. I wear a Medium/Large and don't feel consticted in the least. This suit is pretty forgiving and stretchy, so I'd go with the ML if I were you. With 3mm suits (I'm on my 4th) I 've always gone with a Medium/Large (O'Neil, Body Glove, Bare, and Akona) and none of them have been too tight. I think you run the risk of the opposite if you go with the Large. Good luck!
STEPHEN S  I bought this suit for my oldest son who was normally a large. Similar proportions to you but a little bigger. He usually takes a large and we ordered a large but had to exchange it for an XL. These run slightly small so if I were you I would go with the Large. It sounds like it would be ideal for your size. My son was very happy with it and used it on every dive (5 dives per day) for 12 days in the South Pacific without a single issue.
BENJAMIN G  Sorry Don't know
YEONHEE P  No problem!
JOHN H  I found that their sizes run significantly small. In your scenario, I would definitely get the larger of your choices
YEONHEE P  Thank you JOHN. I will go for Large!
DAWN G  I found this suit had ample stretch to it. You sound more of a medium/large to me but I would keep in mind how stable is your weight/size....does it fluctuate much? Is there anywhere near you that has store stock you could try a similar item on first for reassurance? If all else fails, resell the item and reorder. Best wishes and happy bubbles!
YEONHEE P  Thank you, DAWN! I will follow your advice.
WILLIAM B  I'm the same size. I went with the Large. width is good the only thing is if you have short legs they might be a little long.
YEONHEE P  I have short legs!! Then I should go for M/L? Large is out of stock anyways.
LOWREY H  I would advise going for the larger size. I found the product to be true to size or slightly small. Additionally, with age, neoprene tends to lose some elasticity. It would make the product easier to put on later in its use if not too tight to begin with.
YEONHEE P  Thank you for your advice. I really appreciate it.
EVGENI K  I'm 5 ft 8.5 in, chest 39 in, waist 33 in, hips 35 in, weight 158 lbs. Akona site calc says I'm in between MD & ML sizes. Should I stick to the smaller or a larger size ? The next question: is this suit warm enough for 70 F or maybe Bare 5/4 velocity would be a better choice ? What's would be the size of Bare 5/4 velocity suit that I should get then ? PS: I felt warm enough with 5 mm long sleeve shorty in 70 F (that's why I'm considering 3mm Akona jumpsuit). Thanks for any advice
PETER G  I'm 6'0", chest 43, waist 34, 180#, and I wear the ML currently. I'd go with the smaller size, but I like my suit to be snug. I've been wearing this suit for longs days (many hours) in the water for tropical diving (78-84F). I'm comfortable in this suit, but think that I would want a bit more warmth for 70F.
GREG W  The Akona suits run a little small but a very good fit. I work in the Caribbean and have no issues with the water temps that average in the 70-80 range.
EVGENI K  Thanks, Greg
WILLIAM B  I'm 5'9"-5'10" 175. The Akona legs will be a little too long in the ML. For 70* water 3mm is good. For cold diving 50* water on the bottom in NJ you would want 7mm.
EVGENI K  Thanks, William. Red sea, no NJ dives meanwhile :)
BENJAMIN G  I suggest get the larger size as they are. Tight.
Patrice P  I am buying this for my husband who is 6'4", 180 pounds...is he an xl or 2xl. He is a 54 waist...tall and think. Suggestions?
STEVEN C  I'm 6'4" and 195 with a 35" waist, the XL fit just fine. It is just alittle large in the thighs and waist but overall the suit fits good. I finally found one with good lenght in the legs.
MICHAEL B  No problem. I'm 6'2", 300 lbs and I have a 46 inch waist. I bought a 4x and it fits perfectly and works even better. Very comfortable too. I definitly recommend this suit! Hope this helps.
JOHN H  I found that the Akona sizing runs about a size too small. It doesn't seem possible that someone who is 6'4"/180lb could possibly have a 54 inch waist. Is that a typo?? Do you mean 34" perhaps?
JOSHUA R  6'4, 180lbs with a 54 waist? Are you sure about the waist? That just sounds a bit off for his height/weight. I'm 6'4, 280lbs with a 42 waist and I'm a big guy. I wear a 3xl. I had a 2xl, but it was a bit too tight.
ROB H  I am 6'2" 180, and the xl fits great. I cannot imagine he really has a 54 waist at that height and weight, maybe 34. The xl should fit fine.
RICHARD S  6'4", 180 pounds and a 54 inch waist? How can that be?
SCOTT J  I would suggest an 3 xl. They have great return and sizing policy
LEW B  Mine runs on the small side so I suggest you buy a 2xl for him.
Shopper  Is there a sizing chart anywhere on the web site for the wet suits?
LeisurePro S   Here is a sizing chart.
