About Akona Caicos Fins

The new Caicos fin has an extended sole plate, which adds thrust and relieves strain on your foot. Built with a simple and reliable strap adjustment system for ease of donning and doffing. A contoured foot pocket design gives maximum comfort. Fins can be used with or without booties. Manufactured from high grade polypropylene material which is durable and long lasting for years of performance.

The directional channel, in the middle of the fin, increases propulsion efficiency. Vent spaces, on each side of the fin, releases water not involved with thrust. Structurally optimized hinge point provides correct fin shape throughout kick cycle. Fin is available in three color choices and comes in 3 size ranges, a XS size 1-4, SM/MD size 4.5 to 8 and a LG/XL size 8.5 to 13. The AKONA Caicos Fins come with a 24 month limited warranty.

Straps are inadequate.

Bought this for my 12 yr. old for scuba. The size is about perfect. Unfortunately, the straps/"locking" mechanism is inadequate. The straps are secured by plastic tabs that don't fit quite perfectly. The strap kept pulling loose even in the pool.

Great Fins

I bought these for my 10 yo daughter who just completed her open water SCUBA class. These fins worked great for her. They are very light and so easy to put on/take off that she does not need any help. I love the fact that they fit her small/narrow foot now and can be adjusted as she grows. The price was just as great as the product.

Really don't know about these fins

Bought these for my wife to snorkel in bonaire. She used them with water shoes and found these fins to be really hard to get on and off. The button on the sides has to be pushed in so hard that it's easier to just pull the strap off over the shoe..But be careful that you don't tear the strap.I will be scraping these fins and going to get her ones that has snap buckles on the sides.

Can't wait to use these!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use my fins yet (in the "real world"), but the real test will be when I go on a cruise soon. I just got scuba certified, and was told these fins may be too light for diving; however, they're perfect for snorkeling. I plan to do both diving and snorkeling on my cruise, so I'm looking forward to seeing just how they do with both.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Can these be worn with neoprene socks or are boots required? Can they be used for scuba?
MARILYN M  I have worn these fins with booties with no problem. However, they are a little light for diving. I've found these fins best for snorkeling.
JAY S  yes my wife uses boots with them she scuba dives but not very often
SARAH S  Neoprene socks work well - I have not tried boots
AGNES L  Boots are not required, but I wore them scuba diving with boots, while my husband has worn them snorkeling barefeet. You can certainly wear them with neoprene socks. They run a little bit wide though and that's how they fit my husband who wears size 10 men's wide. I wear a size 8 women's and have really narrow feet.
Elizabeth S  I'm a woman wearing a size 8 shoe. I wear a 2-3 mm boot to dive. What size would I wear in these. Also, I'm looking for a good travel fin that I can pack in my carryon - how heavy and how long are these fins in the size that I need?
MARILYN M  I wear a size 7.5 shoe, so I followed the advice of other reviewers and bought the SM/MD (fits size 4.5 to 8). While I have plenty of room for my booties, you will most likely need the next larger size. Those will be 23" long. Pros: I have these Akona Caicos fins in pink because I love being a girl, it's a great cause and frankly, the color makes them very easy to find in the heap of black fins on a boat. I absolutely love them for snorkeling. They're very light and comfortable, and the side holes make it really easy for carrying them around. Cons: I've found them too light for diving thought, so I use heavier fins for that. All in all, GREAT snorkeling fins, but if you're looking for diving fins, I highly recommend jet fins with spring straps.
Sarah S  what size fine would I buy if I wear a size 8.5 womens shoe?
Monica s  You should be fin in the SM/MD size which is 4.5-8, unless you have a boot with a very thick sole, this size should be just fine.
