About Akona Deluxe Mesh Backpack (AKB235)

On most dive trips, everything gets wet. What you need is a bag to get you to and from the boat as easily as possible - a bag that folds up small, loves water, and dries quickly. This is your bag. The draw string closure utilizes rustproof, brass grommets that are resistant to salt water and extreme environmental conditions. Heavy duty YKK #5 zipper, slide and pull are used on internal semi dry pocket. #10 YKK Delrin, zipper with bronze pull runs down full length of bag and provides for easy access to most of your contents without having to unload the entire bag.

Ever lose your keys on a dive? The rip stop exterior pocket comes with an internal key clip. Nylon mesh is constructed with high-strength PVC (polyvinyl chloride) material making your Deluxe Mesh Backpack water and stain resistant with exceptional durability. Bag is equipped with comfortable padded, contoured and cushioned with fleece lining adjustable shoulder straps that are reinforced with 1" (2.5 cm) webbing and durable rubberized exterior. An adjustable sternum strap adds stability for the long haul. When you reach the boat you can easily pass your bag to the waiting crew member with the embroidered AKONA side handle or top hand grip.

Great thing about a mesh bag is that when you get to the wash tank on the dock after a day of diving you can submerge the entire bag in the tank and rinse you gear while still in the bag. This feature also allows you to bring your travel gear bag when security is an issue and once you arrive at your diving destination you can transfer you gear to the mesh bag and use it instead of getting the travel bag wet. This bag measures 30" tall by 15.5"in diameter (76 x 39.4 cm) has 5,658 cubic inches (92.7 liters) of internal volume, bag comes with a luggage tag and a 24 month limited warranty.

This works well! great product

I was looking for a quality bag and found a few people using this bag when I was on dive boats in the past. I figure if others are using it and the bags I saw were of different ages and still looking good I figure it will last. I have only used it a time or two so I don't have a long history to report but it has a strong mesh ans great should straps. I figure the straps will come in handy when walking to the boat and carrying all the gear. I would buy this again and feel I made a good purch...

Fantastic Bag- Highly Recommend

By

We purchased two of these bags back around 2005 and they've been great. They fit all of your gear and the shoulder straps are padded for extra comfort. We're replacing one of the bags this year because the bottom part just wore out. We used one bag more often to combine gear so it got a lot more use. The other bag probably has 2-3 more years of life left. They're well made and will last a long time. We really put it thru the test with our annual 6 week dive trips where we used the bags numerous times a day, everyday. We just dumped the entire bag in the rinse tanks then into our lockers. Easy! Just try to keep the front compartment zipped as it will hold water and make the bag heavier. They've been dragged, tossed, thrown, stuffed to the max and still held up! We've used the bags for grocery shopping, laundry, and much more. The bag is well worth it and is highly recommended:)

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Jackie S  Can the backplate BCD scuba pro fit this mesh back pack? Thank yoi
RIC R  Yes.. I fit my Zeigle Backplate BCD, fits in there just fine along with all my other wet gear needed for the day.
JAMES G  My Halcyon backplate (single wing) fits fine
Ned S  I don't own a scuba pro BCD but the aqualung axium i3, cressi sub, zeagle zina, and other BCDs fit nicely. It has a zippered compartment for a snorkle that may not be evident from photos and description. It is easy to load/unload through the zipper along the side in addition to the top drawstring.
KARL H  Since you did not specify which brand of back plate, would say I do not see why you won't be able to get your back plate in this bag. I put a Aqualung Apeks Black Ice back inflate BCD, Xshot fins (XL), mask, 8 mm semidry wetsuit, regulator, bot, gloves, and a Sealife D1400 Pro camera setup.
MARTHA ANNE M  hi Jackie, my aluminum backplate/wing configuration (S) fit fine in the mesh bag. the bag has a side zipper which is helpful also.
MICHAEL B  I don't know the dimensions of the backplate, but the bag is very flexible. Don't put too much weight in this bag. I've had this bag for two years. The straps have started to tear from having a reg, wetsuit, fins, and BCD in it unfortuately.
JAYSON S  Do you know the dimensions of your back plate? I can fit my fins, mask, snorkel, booties and I still have plenty of room, the bag is pretty big and its a great buy.
Kasia W  Yes, it will easily fit in this bag.
SAM E  My wife and I both have backplate bcds. Hers is scuba pro mine is not. Mine is a little larger than scuba pro models, and fits fine in the bag with room for mask, snorkel, fins, all hoses and gear, save a dive kit, and a few personal items. This is a great bag for getting gear back and forth to dive sites or boat docks. Worth every penny! P.s. my bc is a large men's.
Shopper  what does the back of the bag look like? is there material between you and the gear or is it mesh as well? What is the bottom made out of?
WILLIAM S  The back of the bag is solid and somewhat padded. It has two arm straps to carry as a backpack. The straps are nicely padded. The bottom is solid vinyl so you do get a little pooling of water there but tip the bag and any resudya water flows out easily. This is one BIG bag.
BILLY C  The material between your back and the bag is nylon. it is not mesh. It's more like a backpack material. The back is actually a really long pouch.
AARON G  Bought this for my last dive trip. The bottom of the bag, as well as the back where the backpack straps are, is made up of denier nylon and is not mesh.
