About Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer

The XR-1 Nx is as versatile underwater as it is topside. Upon starting your dive, the XR 1 NX will simply display your current depth and how long you can stay there (Dive Time Remaining). While many divers have asked for such simplicity and ease of use, you know that with all the XR-1 Nx's features, there must be more and there is. Simply press the button to see more information. Is this information important to you on a full time basis? Leave it there. Just want to check it and then move on to another display? You can do that too. It's up to you and your new XR-1 Nx. Variable ascent rate indicator will keep you safe upon ascent and slow you down progressively as you head to the surface. Safety stop timer will give you the ability to include the all important 15' (5 meters) safety stop which is recommended by all instructional agencies. AERIS Dive Computers are designed with color-coded bar graphs; gray, yellow and red. These graphs monitor nitrogen accumulation and your personal ascent rate. Pixels buildup in each of these color-coded areas to give you a quick, easy reference of these parameters. Proper monitoring of these graphs allows you to select the personal degree of conservatism you wish to build into each dive, putting you in control of your margin of safety. The XR-1 Nx acts simply as an 'Air' computer until you tell it otherwise, whether that is this weekend or 2 years down the road. Computer will let you dive nitrox from 21 to 50%.

The XR-1 Nx features a diver replaceable CR2450 battery. This can be a real trip-saver on board a live-aboard boat! Should you be in a tight spot between dives, the "hot-swap" feature allows you to change batteries between dives while maintaining all calculations. Other features of the computer are a calendar and clock, 330' (100 meter) operating depth, variable ascent rate, push button or water activation, altitude adjustable, wait to fly time, 12 dive on-unit log capacity, pre-dive plan sequence, dive planner and much more. The computer comes with Aeris 30 day satisfaction guarantee and a 24 month limited warranty.

Great price, but I just dove with 2 buddies with the same unit. We all indicated quite different temperatures and ascent rates doing identical things. Temps varied by 5 degrees. This makes you a bit nervous about the other more important readings. One buddy said there was a huge variation in allowed bottom time between his and the DM's Suunto when he did a deep wreck dive. The Suunto was more conservative.

The ascent rate indicator memory is useless as, at some time in every dive, the 3 bar maximum will be exceeded. At the end of the dive, an average ascent rate readout would be better.

Having said that, it is an excellent entry level computer (or it'd non-nitrox sister model)

One of the three of us had to change a battery and had an o-ring problem and a following flood. The flood only affected the battery, not the computer as Aeris seals off the two areas pretty well. It should come with a spare O-ring or two though.

I would buy another one (in fact I already have as a previous one went overboard without a wearer).

Bought this elsewhere, but I like it and would recommend for an entry computer. One complaint I have though is that the ascent monitor is so sensitive that if I move my arm to fast or something (or just turn vertical too fast for the ascent) then the visual alarm is already going off and I have to wait a minute before starting my ascent. Wish it did averages (temp/depth) like suunto's, but still a good computer.

Works great and gives me all the information I need. Only problem is the unit stays powered up for 24+ hours after your last dive. Wish I could disable that to save on the battery.

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

This is my 4th Aeris dive computer. I still have two hose mount units. I have one set up on my reg set I use for local quarry diving and anohter on the reg set I take to the caribean. I just purchased the Aeris XR1 NK to replace my other Aeris which died last November while diving the Florida Keys. I had that computer for probably about 10 years and had over 6oo dives on it. The Aeris is a budget priced computer but I like the brand and have had good luck with them.

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

We dived for years using tables.and finally decided a dive computer was in the cards. We basically decided to get the simplest model we could find. The Aeris XR-1 NX does everything we need and nothing more. It is easy to use with a simple 1 button menu system. The display is easy to read, especially under water. It has user replaceable batteries and can be moved to a console if required. Absolutely best value for our needs.
