The AERIS Jetpack is the Ultimate Solution for Airline Carry-On & Transport to and from the Dive Site. It's a true Hybrid, not a Bag and more than just a mere BC. AERIS took a long look at what it means to Travel with Scuba Gear to a destination and realized pretty quickly that it didn't make sense to take a BC, your Heaviest-and-Most Bulky Piece of Kit with Shoulder Straps, and stuff it into a bag - so you could carry it... By combining a Semi-Dry Day Bag with a One-Size Fits-All Fully-Adjustable Travel BC, AERIS has managed to create a Travel System that can carry a complete set of Dive Gear (Regulator's, Computer, Fins, Suit, etc) and Travel Amenities (Clothing, Toiletry Kit, Computer, etc) easily for Multi-Day Travel, even a week depending on how you pack... all in only one bag.
The AERIS Jetpack is Ruggedly-Constructed from High-Quality Durable Materials but weighs in at only 6.25lbs (2.84kg) when empty. The Backpack/BC Combo weighs in at a meager 8.25lbs (3.75kg) when empty! Fully Packed with Travel Friendly Dive Gear stays under 30lbs (13.64kg) with ample space for the rest of the amenities you'll need for a week of Diving and Traveling. The spacious 2,563 cubic inch (42 cubic liters) and Light Semi-Dry Bag has Compartments to enable Ease-of-Packing and use during Travel making it the perfect Day Bag for Boat Dives or Shore Excursions during your trip.
The AERIS Jetpack BCD provides 30lbs (13.64kg) of Lift, has a 14lbs (6.36kg) Releasable Weight System and Optional Cylinder Band Trim Weight with a Capacity of 10lbs (4.55kg) of Non Releasable Weight. One-Size-Fits-All with Custom Fit for Everyone: Adjustable Harness, Cummerbund and Lumbar Support. The Adjustable Position Weight Pockets allow proper Balance in the Water. The BCD is Rugged (not your typical travel materials) constructed with 1000-Denier Cordura, 420-Denier Nylon Urethane Laminated Bladder Material and Quick Dry 800-Denier Double-Coated Nylon.
Although Lightweight the BCD has Fully Padded Shoulder Straps, a Sternum Strap and Waist Strap. The Sternum, Waist and Shoulder Straps are Fully-Adjustable and are equipped with Squeeze-Style" Side-Release Buckles. The Right-Shoulder Strap has a Series of Daisy-Chain" Loops for Accessory Attachment. Buoyancy Control and Trim while diving is easy with the AERIS Versatile Power Inflator equipped with an Internal Pull Dump Cable attached to an Overpressure/Dump Valve. An Additional Overpressure/Dump Valve, located on the Lower Right with Pull Dump Cord allows Easy Trimming of Buoyancy regardless of your Diving Position. Comments about AERIS Jetpack Travel System:
I love my jetpack! I got it last year and took it on a week long trip to Bonaire. I used it as a backpack/carry on and was able to fit my dive computer, regulator, snorkel, laptop, and basically everything I would need for diving. My fins did not fit, and went in my carry on luggage. I packed it pretty full, and it did get quite heavy lugging it around the airport. It helped when I used the cumber bund for more support. I love that it is fully adjustable, and after a quick orientation dive, I figured out exactly what worked for me. I positioned the integrated weight system more towards the back since the Aeris JetPack is back inflated. It really helped me to watch an online video for breaking it apart and reconstructing the BC portion once in Bonaire. It held up magnificently in 20 boat and shore dives, and will be going with me this year in July back to Bonaire. It's a great piece of equipment.
Comments about AERIS Jetpack Travel System:
It is a little hard to get adjusted just right at first and learn how to best pack/unpack everything, but after a few dives it became very simple. It did take me a few extra minutes to pack and unpack my gear than my family members, but 3 or 4 minutes extra to have a super compact and highly portable set is worth it to me. Also, it is very comfortable to wear even fully loaded. Looks and feels very durable.
I was worried that it wouldn't fit because one size fits all never fits me (I'm 5'4'' and 100 lbs) but everything adjusted down great. My stepdad is a pretty big dude rocking the beer belly and it fit him too. The velcro waistband is the only part that doesn't get quite small enough but it tightens up fine with the buckle and straps.
I was actually surprised at how much I could fit in there. I broke it in on a 5 day trip and fit all my scuba gear and clothes/toiletries in there. I do wish there was a specific pouch (besides the small front pouches) you could put dry clothes in so that it will stay dry when your wet scuba gear goes back in after the dive, but a ziplock bag works too. My fins do not fit but I played around with the suggestions to strap them to the outside or unzip a slot specifically for tall fins and let them stick out a bit. Both worked well and wasn't too inconvenient that I might wait to purchase smaller fins until I actually fly with my gear.
Be prepared to get some jealous looks and nice comments because it's a unique piece of gear everyone will notice!
