About Aeris Velocity X3 Open Heel Fins with Spring Heel Straps

The Velocity X3 accelerates with lightning speed as water comes into contact with the textured blade. Faster and more efficient, the Velocity X3 maintains comfort and control while enabling you to exert less effort, stress and strain with each kick.

During the fin stroke, water flow is directed through Aeris exclusive Power Enhancing Vents (PEV's) and off the fin tips, creating lift and forward propulsion. So much so, that the Velocity X3 is the only "paddle" fin that benefits from Nature's Wing Propeller Fin Technology. This helps reduce the stress on the divers leg while accelerating water over the blade; resulting in increased velocity. Water movement through the PEV's also reduce lateral movement of the fin (wasted energy), increasing the efficiency of the kick.

In addition, oversized side rails add rigidity for increased lift, power, and efficiency. Flexible channel directs water off the tip of the blade for improved power and efficiency. Ergonomically designed foot pocket accommodates virtually all foot sizes and boot styles. Velocity's angled blade is designed for the preferred angle of attack.

Spring fin strap have a slimmer profile then most conventional fin straps reducing the potential of fouling with lines sea weed (kelp) or debris. Easy to use springs automatically compensates for different size feet and boots. Spring fin straps are easy to put on and take off and they are depth compensating because they will compress to changes in the thickness of your boots. Fins are available in 4 sizes and come in 5 color ascent choices. Fins also come with Aeris 12 month limited warranty.

Purchased these fins recently along with a set of Mares Super Channel and a set of Mares Volo Power fins (if interested, please read separate reviews written on the Mares fins). I was trying to find a fin that would be a little easier on the legs when diving in open water than the heavy, black rubber "tech" fins that I use when diving cenote and cave systems; but that would still have good propulsion and also be able to handle a variety of different kicks. Out of the box these fins appeared to have been very well constructed and were sharp looking. The angled blade seemed to be fairly flexible, but not overly flimsy or floppy. A little big on my foot, but a 3mm or 5mm soft sole boot filled the extra space nicely. Decided these fins would be worth keeping and trying out on my next open water dive trip. Did some ocean diving earlier this month off Cozumel,Mx. I have to say the fins preformed quite well, but they were not the best I have ever tried. Had decent propulsion in lite current and very easy on the legs, but then again I was diving single tanks; and do admit that I am accustomed to diving with my heavy "tech" fins. Much better and more efficient in moving you through the water than most split fins and/or the flimsy, floppy composite type fins. While I would question power if under a big load or in a real strong current, I do feel they are strong enough to hold shape and not "fold up" as some lessor quality fins could. I also think that if used for mostly single tank, recreational type dives, that these fins are more than adequate; especially for diver's who do not have a strong kick or those that may have poor finning skills. Personally, I will be keeping these for a backup set of fins for ocean diving and when traveling; as well as for primary use when lake and quarry diving here in Northern Iowa. Hard to rate this fin: performance and fit a 4 (foot pocket could be a little longer), with quality and durability a 5. Given the cost of these fin's, it would be very difficult, if not impossible, to find a better quality fin (new of course) and that comes with spring straps. Would recommend! Thanks for reading; and safe diving!!

I just received a pair in the regular size. On LP, the size chart says regular is 9-11. These are big. The spring barely makes contact with my heel. I wear a 10-10.5, depending on brand of shoes. I just bought a pr of Nikes, so I know this. On the Aeris site, the regular size is 10-12. That doesn't sound like a lot, but that puts my foot at the short end of the scale with these. Had I known...
You can guess the rest of this. Now I have to exchange these before my trip in one week! PITA. This taught me a lesson to always check the manufacturer's site before buying something as the retailers rarely double check this sort of thing. Someone over here should fix the size chart.

Comments about Aeris Velocity X3 Open Heel Fins with Spring Heel Straps:

I love these fins! I wore them in Palau for a week, in all sorts of diving environments from wall dives to hook-ins in German Channel. Strong currents were not a problem for me. Good tight fit with my boots, and the spring strap can't be beat!
Unfortunately, I lost one during the trip! And now I can't find another pair of regulars anywhere! Would recommend these if they weren't being discontinued by Aeris as part of their merger with Oceanic. Oceanic would be crazy to not offer this fin under their name!

I wear a size 8.5, I purchased a Small. To fill the void I can wear a boot to fill the gaps, socks alone were not enough for a tight fit.

I used this product for my confined water dives and open water dives. I plan to take them with me to the bahamas for my shark dive. My instructor was please with my selection and advised me that the spring straps were a great addition to the fins. The fins were comfortable and easy to use, although I'm just a beginner and don't have very much to compare them to.

              Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
MR A  Hi name is Bruno Andujar,I am Scuba Diver. I bought this item because the price and quality is good. I will use for my dive school and shop as well.
Kevin C  These are being discontinued because Aeris is merging with Oceanic. I wore a pair in Palau sized regular with a 5 ml boot. Great in strong or gentle current. However, I lost one during the trip. I want another pair, but there are no Regular sizes available at Leisure Pro. Will Oceanic provide a similar fin, or what is the best replacement by another manufacturer?
Kevin C  William, I got your reply in my email, but I don't see it on here. I would like to talk more about your answer.
Shopper  i wear a size 10-10.5 mens (usa) and plan on wearing thin boots. should go with a regular or large size fin?
Boyd C  If you want a snugger foot pocket get the smaller size. I own these in both large and extra large and wear 10.5. The extra large gives me a looser fit but otherwise they both fit well. Also, if you ever decide to use a heavier boot you may not like the fit. This has not bothered me in the least but some folks complain of foot cramping etc. You will like these fins. They are easy to get on and off with the springs and move you through the water. If you ever get confronted with serious current you will be glad you are wearing these bad boys. PS the thin boot feels fine with this fin so don't worry about that issue.
