Would I need a size regular or sml/medium for a US 9 mens foot wearing 5mm boots? I prefer larger fins but I don't want any movement.
Revised answer: Buy the small. I'm a size 9 men's, have Sub Gear 5 mm booties (soles are not stiff) and I ended up ordering both sizes to see which would fit better. I went with the small. Really like these fins.
The Large was a snug fit for my size 12 foot in a 5-mil booty. I have one hole left on the strap, so they are almost all the way out for me. My guess would be the regular would work, with the strap around mid-range. I have used these fins for both boogie boarding (Hawaii) and diving (Cozumel), and I really like them. Easy to frog-kick, and can support all the leg you can throw at them in a flutter-kick.
With a 5mm bootie, I believe a regular/medium would probably be just right-
I have the Accel in size regular and I wear size 8 mens. I also have 5mm boots, but with the heavy soles. I do have movement of the toes in the boots, but I don't believe it's that bad. If your size 9 boots also had heavy soles, you would probably have less movement than I get, but there would likely be some movement of your toes in the size Regulars.
I wear size 9 Henderson 5mm boots with Aeris fins marked as "regular". This combination works great for me...your experience may vary depending on boot manufacturer.
I would think a smal/medium. I am a size 11½ men's shoe and the regular was the right size for me.
Small. I am a size 9 and I bought the sm/med. Good size food pocket.
Sorry. I'm not home to check my fins but I think I went for a medium. I really like these fins.
I have US Men's size 8 feet. With a 7mm boot (similar to size 9 5 mm?) and size regular, there is some slight movement, but never any danger of the fin slipping off. I tried the same boot in my wife's sml/med Accel and it is a snug but not uncomfortable fit. My preference is the regular, but if you don't want movement, the sml/med might be the way to go.
I wear a size 10 shoe and use 3mm and 5mm boots with the Small/regular size Aeria Acell fin. I originally purchased the large and found them to be too large, fitting loose even with my 5mm boots.
I bought hard sole 3mm, size 6, to wear with my xs aeris so you might want to look at the S/M if you have narrow feet. I found that the foot pocket rubbed the top of my foot so am now looking at wearing a 2 mm sock with my boot.
I wear a mens 9 and I have the fins in small/medium with Sub gear Dive-N-Beach boots which I think are 3mm, light weight set up for travel. It fits nicely with out much movement, I feel that 5mm boots would also work well with the sml/med. the Dive-N-Beach boots don't have a large thick boot like sole on them so that may be something to consider depending on the boots you want but I would probably try the sml/med first if you don't want any movement. While small, the fins are suprisingly powerful.
not sure on size, but these were poor performing fins for me...weak propulsion :-(
I was hoping for a travel fin, but this is NOT it....sorry!
I am size 9 and ordered the regular size and don't have any complaints with the fitment.
