About Aeris AT 400 ION Swivel Regulator

The pneumatically balanced demand valve along with a highly responsive design allows this regulator to provide a high volume of airflow with even the slightest inhalation effort, making it seem nearly effortless to breathe at any depth. All in a second stage barely wider than the mouthpiece. The ION means business as it comes equipped for any type of dive conditions, cold or warm.

The first stage has two HP and 4 LP ports, weighs 29 oz (822 g). The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is an over balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance.

The ION is AERIS' smallest and most streamlined second stage ever with an outer ring diameter of only 2.3" (5.8 cm) and 5.4 oz (153 g) weight. The ION's second stage is made from an ABS/Polycarbonate composite blend of materials making the ION both extremely rugged and lightweight, reducing jaw fatigue on extended dives. The extremely lightweight cover ring is machined from a solid piece of aircraft aluminum, and then hard anodized to prevent corrosion. Following the rules of the sea, or should we say the rules of the C: Compact - Comfortable - Customizable; the ION is a diver's dream. The ION is classified as being suitable for use with nitrox breathing gas mixtures containing up to 40% oxygen by volume without the need for special preparation, cleaning or component parts. Second stage comes with a patented orthodontic mouthpiece with high density bite tabs, Venturi control switch and diver adjustable inhalation. Aeris regulators come with a 24 month limited warranty.
Due to MFG restrictions, this can be sold to the USA and Caribbean only.

The Aeris AT 400 ION Swivel Regulator is commonly used for Cold Water, Extreme Depths, Warm Water and more. The Aeris AT 400 ION Swivel Regulator is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced, Beginner among others. I regularly use this regulator to depths of 100ft, on long (60 minute) shallow dives, and while teaching classes (lots of up and down). In all these situations it breathes very well and is easy on my jaw, clears effortlessly, and always breathes dry.

The ports are well located on the first stage allowing good hose alignment for gauges and dry suit hoses.

I have five of these regualtors, being used frequently, and with regular service (once per year) they are all performing great!

In my opinoin this is the best price to performance regulator on the market.

During the short walk to the water the ring to the purge button came off. This was not noticed by me or other divers in my open water cert. class. At the end of my first dive the purge buttons came out and I started ti inhale a mouthful of sea water. I was only about twelve ft down and being new to the sport elected to surface because I needed a breath and was not clear how to use my integrated secondary air source. I surfaced at a controlled rate. My instructor found part of the regulator on the sand below me. The retainer ring was found by a palm tree next to the beach. After getting a different regulator we did our second dive. Shortly after beginning that dive the outer purge button was found. I cleaned the pieces, assembled the regulator and use it on two more dives. It worked great. My problem is with customer service besides the question, "Why did the regulator come apart?" Thank goodness I wasn't 100 feet down!

Comments about Aeris AT 400 ION Swivel Regulator:

This was the first regulator I have used that wasn't a rental so I am no expert. But what I can say is that it's very lite in the mouth and does not twist or pull because of the swivel. A whole lot better than the rental regs I have used.

Effortless breathing. First dive all ok. Second dive, at the very end when I was almost at the surface it began free-flowing (and couldn't be stopped until the air was shut off). I returned it.

            Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this come with a braided hose like the AT 400 Pro?
Joe S  It depends on which model. The older version prior to end of 2012 will come with a rubber hose. A newer model comes with the braided hose. You should call or email Leisure Pro's staff to make sure you are getting what you are looking for.
Shopper  Would this be a good regulator for cold water diving? I live in the northeast U.S and would like a regulator I could use from spring to fall. (down to about 37 degrees Fahrenheit)
ERIC J  I dont really know, but logic tells me that as water get closer to freezing the swivel might not be a good thing to have.
Shopper  Can i put a QD on it ?
CEYLON L  What is a QD. I have the bcd low pressure hose a nd a pressure transmitter on mine. Lots of ports for its size. Not the lightest of units, but realy rugged. The second stage is real sensitive till you learn how to use it. I fill a float tube at the end of every dive for my group and the boat captain. It's a good reg for the money.
