Are the weights strong for a heavy person?

Hi Clara D. I have used this type of barbell for about 10 years. I work out with a trainer at the gym 3 days a week. And I would describe myself as a heavy person and find this the perfect workout tool. They are very lightweight like foam rubber but as you pull them through the water they give resistance for sculpting muscles. For instance, you can do jumping jacks in the water or pretend you are cross country skiing. It's a lot of fun.

They are only a few ounces as they are made of styrofoam. They work great as you get resistance by pushing and pulling them through the water.

I joined a water aerobics class while in Florida this past winter, and it was a lot of fun. The instructor had us use these barbells for one full hour but it didn't seem that long. Amazing to watch 80 year olds keep up with 60 year olds. Thought I would buy a set of my own.
