PAUL M I have used masks with a purge and without a purge. My experience with purge masks has been extremely positive; I will never own another mask without a purge if I can avoid it. Some divers claim that purge masks leak, but that has not been my experience. I have 3 masks with a purge and none of them have ever leaked. In fact, my favorite mask is the XS Scuba Fusion Purge Mask.

CHRISTINE S I really like the purge feature on a dive mask. It make water removal much easier. The other key aspect I learned was that the purge should be round rather than D-shaped (flat edge against your nose). In the D-shaped config, I had significant rub issue with a lot of irritation after many dive days. This D-shape was my 1st mask. The 2nd mask was a round shape (XS scuba fusion purge). I've taken it on 2 extended dive trips (3-5 dives per day for 5+ days) w/o any rub issue. This mask is my primary mask...I won't dive the D-shape config unless I lose the round purge mask. This would be bad since they're all prescription lens. If the mask holds tight to your face (put it on & inhale...eg: if hit hold in place w/suction), it fits your face. The round purge didn't rub a raw spot under my nose like those of the D-shaped purge.

RON W xs scuba mask works great and is very comfortable. Good for average to average small face. Both my wife and I each have an xs purge

DENISE V our entire family has this mask and have snorkeled for hours upon hours for several straight days a few different times and never had any problems with this mask or the nose purge valve. It worked perfectly.

ANTHONY W there is no difference, the only thing ill tel you is that the mask is so important for fit and comfort, most of the mask from this leak.

CHARLES A L I purchased the XS Scuba mask with clear side skirt and purge valve as a gift to a photographer buddy who always claimed he needed a black mask for camera work. I have used a version of this mask myself for many years, with custom corrective lenses added, for camera work. I prefer the wrap-around visibility. MELODY T Mine is yellow. I've had a hard time getting it defogged... the usual things have not worked well. Someone suggested baby shampoo, so that's the next thing... but I love the mask...

JEFF W It has a silicone type skirt with a double seal around the inside of the skirt. The frame that I bought is Yellow although it does come in black and other colors. the mask is a full view mask with side windows. So far it has been a great mask and I have had no problems with it. It seals every time with or with out a hood.

ROX S I am not sure what the question is. Mine is totally clear and I love it! I would not want it any better. It arrived quickly with no problems.

RICHARD A The part that fits to your face (where your nose goes in and around your eyes or the "skirt") is black, not the more common clear.

RICK W The entire flexible part is black, not clear. I prefer clear for the extra light it seems to let in, but a few prefer black as it keeps it's looks although it always seems to me with black that I am looking through a tunnel. BTW, I was skeptical about diving with a purge mask as everyone I talked to said that it was just another thing to go wrong, but I have been on about 40 dives with it and love it's convenience for clearing and how nice and dry it keeps your face. I have occasionally had to let water in to clear it, and a few minutes later it is back to dry again. Excellent mask!

FRANK F Instead of the clear plastic around the mask, it uses black which is better for viewing colors underwater

RICHARD Z If you are referring to the one listed as Black/Silicone it means that the entire mask is black including the part that are shown as clear on the file picture. Many divers prefer this especially for night diving.
