This is a great computer w/a few drawbacks. First the battery life is only an estimate and is not the actual reading. I learned this the hard way when my Smart Com read 85% and during a dive went into an E6 code (battery dead). When I sent it in for service I was given the information about the battery and told that I should have the battery changed every 2 years. For the kind of $ that this commands it should give an accurate reading and not a guess, which is what it is. Second, as others have said the battery cannot be changed by the consumer so expect to pay at least $40 to have it changed if it is under warrenty. Good luck if it is not.
However, on the pro side, my Smart Com has performed quite well and has a great number of features. I have been overall happy with this product and have recommended it to many other divers. I expect to dive with it for years to come.

I have had mine since it first came out many years ago, I just bought another one for my son
I couldnt be happier with it
The accent alarm is very sencitive, It will even go off if you raise it up real fast to look at it.
It will let you know right away if you are coming up to fast

My wife and I have the same dive computer, mine works fine (purchased Sep-02). They were recalled in 2004-5. During the first few years the quick disconnect would leak excessively. We had to replace the "O" rings multiple times (sometimes on the same trip). Uwatec seemed to have solved the leakage problem. My wife's computer started reading erratically during our Nov-07 dive trip. We paid $190 to repair it. During our 2008 dive trip it worked fine. However, just before our 2009 dive trip, it was locked up with a 'E6' code. I don't know what Uwatec will say, but I don't want to pay another $190 for repairs and only have it work on one trip.
