Shopper As the specification say this the lights are Liquid cooled, does that mean this light can only be used in water?
John S I use it out of water on occasion but only sparingly. I am not aware of any reason not to, but I purchased it as a dive light and it is outstanding. On a recent night dive off of Maui it out performed all of the other dive lights on the dive.Back on the boat everyone wanted to know more about it.
Bobby R I have used it outside of water for brief periods and not had a problem. But I cannot say whether it will overheat if used for very long, or what damage might result if any if does overheat.
STANTON W It can be used above water. The LED's will not put out as much light as they get hotter.
RAYMOND P Although I do use this light primarily for diving, I have used it for short periods out of the water with no obvious ill effect. I have not noticed any unusual heating of the light out of the water. Having said that, I would check with the manufacturer since it isn't inexpensive.
CHARLES M No it works just fine above water. However, the LEDs heat up and produce slightly less light. I've used mine out of water about 50 times as much as I've used it in the water. My only complaint about it is that the handle attachment screw digs into the housing and frequently loosens. On a light this expensive EVERY detail should be well engineered.
