Questions about this item:
Shopper Male, 5'11", 36" Waist, 42" Chest, 175 lbs. What size? I will use with 3mm in warm and 7mm in cold water.
ROGER M I am 6' 215lbs and use a large when wearing a 3/2 suite. The bc has some good adjustability. This BC is heavy. I like it for local lake use but not for travel.
JOHN M I am your same size and purchase this item in large. It is just right. Enjoy.
VLADIMIR M L-XL should be fine
Chiung- Ming C United States (your) small size equals to Asian medium size? I try this BC in Taiwan , m size is fit.
thanks for your reply!
Frank L Please refer to the size chart for sizing questions.
Chiung- Ming C My tall is 168cm, wt 70kg, chest 95cm, waist 87cm.
If I want to buy this item, what size I will choose? S? XS? Thank you!
MICHAEL B I have the BCD in a medium and I really like it. I do have to tighten the inner waist band a good amount.
I'm not quite certain how to advise you. I'm a good deal taller than you (186 cm), have a slightly bigger chest (96.5 cm), but smaller waist (79 cm). I certainly don't think an XS would fit you.
Chiung- Ming C United States (your) small size equal to Asian medium size? I try this BC in Taiwan , m size is fit.
thanks for your reply
RAYMOND J Im not sure on the conversion to imperial sizes but i bought a medium for my son when he was 10 years old hes 16 now and it fits fine because it has many adjustments i made it as small as i could when i got it then adjusted as he grew into it. i have had no problems with it ever 6 years good luck dive safe!!
Shopper Im thinking of buying the Tusa Active Purge Assist.... Would a combination of the Tusa Active Purge Assist and the Tusa Duo-Air Alternate Combo Inflater (IR-3) work with this BCD? Would there be any negatives to this setup? Would it be beneficial? Or would I lose the benefits of either the purge assist or the duo-air octopus/inflater capability?
JOHN H It is a really good set up for sport diving. If you will be diving in very dirty water or doing diving that could get mud or silt into the power inflator/octo it could free flow.
Shopper Does the Tusa Platina Evolution BCD accept the Atomic SS1 safe second octo/inflator?
CESAR S It should. I have the TUSA Duo-Air incorporated in my TUSA Platina.
I like the fact that it's a more "sleeke" feel and look when the inflator and reg are in one.
Keep in mind, in event of a buddy needing air, YOUR primary becomes their support. Your SS1 ( my Duo-Air) becomes the primary for you.
Hope this helps.
Shopper What is the weight capacity for the quick release system?
ROLLIN E About 20lbs. To test I jut put two, five lb soft weights in one of the quick release pockets. I don't think any more would fit, and it was a pretty tight slide getting in back into the BC and locking the securing mechanism. However I would not depend on the BC for "quick release". We find the release mechanism to be a bit complex, and not all that easy to use. This is when we load it, and it is across a bench where we have good leverage to pull the release. I'm not sure we could pull it with one hand, underwater, in a stress situation. My daughter uses this with a weight belt, so she can dump weight if needed; she puts some weight in the BC to take some stress off her hips. If you want to dispense with a weight belt and use this BC I would practice engaging the release with the BC on. She really likes the BC, so I would recommend it, but with the warning that it can be tough to pull the
JOSE G I have used up to 16 Lbs (8 Lbs - 2 pills of 4Lb each) in each bag without any problem. Hope this helps.
RANDY L I have put 10 pounds in each side with no problem.
JAMES E They put weights i'n pouch quick release ...will fit two reg weights if needed...and two back non dump will hold reg 5# weight without any problem.....love jacket, wife has one also...
Shopper I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
RAYMOND J i bought this for my son when he was 12 it is a rock solid bc it can be adjusted to fit a small person or grow into it we have now adjusted it out because hes 16 still in great shape I also use it in open water classes if a students rental fails its my back up i dive master for a shop in califonia good luck!
CHRISTOPHER S I had basically the same BC before and really liked it. I lost 50 pounds, so I needed a new BC that fit. After using this BC, I can say I like this one even more than my old one. Loading weights is much easier, and it is very comfortable. I found this BC to be an excellent value.
CAMERON L Good price. Integrated weight system and two large pockets. However I did change out the bcd inflator and added my backup second stage/inflator much nicer to have it right there think it to came from Tusa. Overall good setup have had it now for 3 years never any problems been on about 90 dives in 3 countrys.
EMILY Y I picked this BCD because when I tried on several at my local scuba shop this was my favorite fit. I also liked that it is a trusted brand that I have used before. When I saw it for such a great price on Leisure Pro, I had to get it! It has tons on pockets and has held up really well. I'm very pleased with my purchase. Good luck!
OSCAR L I chose for its ballast compartments. They are easy to secure and release if necessary. If you want You don't need using weight belt or use it very light weight. I am satisfied with this BCD. Something I would have liked is that their support was solid.
DREW S My Fire Dept Divers wanted a traditional jacket style BC w/ integrated weights and decent buoyancy, along with a livable price tag. The newer style weight release system works great (2 of the same model BC's were from when Tusa used to make these with velcro releases- not good). My guys like the pockets and usability. We dive Lake Michigan alot, and my divers were not happy with back inflator B.C's (they felt the forward push when inflating alot). We don't have many "No Go" dives when in rescue mode, so they wanted a jacket/ traditional BC. Our only complaint with this BC is sometimes the single tank strap allows the tank to slip. Hope this helps. Battalion Chief Mark
MICHAEL B I happened to be in NYC and knew I needed to buy a BCD, so I stopped by the Leisure Pro Store. I knew that I wanted integrated weights and these work great--with two pockets on the back to balance weight better. It also has nice amounts of storage and clips. A someone who is fairly tall and thin, it also has nice adjustment straps to customize the fit.
MALCOLM K Tell you truth I bought it in a set for a great price as a back up to my current BC, I haven't used it yet since don't really want to put it in salt water till I need it. I have put it on, it fits great, constuction seems very good, I think it is a great BC. If I had any negitive it would be weight, since it is heavy duty/ well made in my opinion & has built in weight pockets it is a lot to fly with. If you are not planning on travel diving with it (which you could but it takes room & weight) I would highly reccommend this BC. For the money I spent and the product I got I think I got a heck of a deal.
ARTURO C When selecting a BCD, I wouldn't worry too much about the specific brand and model at first. First, select the style of BCD that is the right one for your purpose: full size, travel, ladies, wings, etc. Then, pick a brand that is serviced in your area. Finally, I'd recommend matching the brand to the brand of the rest of your equipment, and (if possible) take advantage of a package discount.
To answer your question, I selected this BCD as I was looking for a full size, durable BCD (I dive in cold water with shore entries) and leisurepro hAppen to have an excellent price for a TUSA package.
So far, my experience with the BCD has been very positive. I like the controls and the integrated weights. For cold water diving, I like the two (non removable) pockets at the back as they allow me to carry enough weight and at the same time keep a proper trim. A minor negativet is that you need to double check that all the pockets are locked (specially the ones at the back) as it's easy to believe that they are close when they are not (I lost some of my weights that way in a rough shore entry).
DAVID S I chose the Tusa Platina Evo because I think it is a great BC for the price. Great fit and lift capability as well as the integrated weight system.
Parker S Is this BCD good for cold water dives? Most of my diving is in the Pacific Northwest.
JAMES C I use this BC for both warm and cold and have never had an issue. I am very happy with it and would more than recommend you make the same purchase. I mainly dive southern California and have found it to be a great BC.
STEVEN B I cant help you with that question. I live and dive in the Caribbean which hardly counts as cold water. I have been pleased with this BCD, and would recommend it.
ANTHONY R The BC has been great. No problems at all and it is also made very well. I live in Ga so the temps here are not very low on a regular basis but i have use it at temps in upper 40s. The only issue I can say about it is that it is a little bulky around the waist but the pockets are big. I carry a flash light, safety marker and still have room for other stuff. The intergerated weight system works great, enough room for most needed weights. The inflator worked good but replaced it for a Air 2. The mounting bracket that secures the tank(duel rib system) works great. My tank has never slipped or came loose, very good system. This BC is as good or better as more expensive BCs on the market from what I have seen. The only reason I would change is to switch to a back inflated model. (Maybe).
B RICHARD J I really cannot answer Parker's question. I bought the Tusa as a gift and it will not be used until September and then only in the Caribbean. It does, however, appear to be a very well made, full-featured, BCD. The recipient of the gift, an experienced warm water diver, studied it carefully and was thrilled to have it.
COLLEEN B We dive mainly in Missouri and Arkansas where the water can get quite cold, I have had this bcd in 39 degree water and it performed flawlessly, it is an amazing bcd I love it and would definitely recommend it
Shopper Im 5'9 ,150lbs with a 29 inch waist. what size should i look at?
MICHAEL S All I can offer is my size, but I think it'll work for you also. I'm 5'9 and 200lbs. My son is 6' and 190. We both bought the large and it has worked great for both of us. It's a very nice BC and I don't think you'd be disappointed with it. Good luck and great dives.
I might also add that I use a 7 mil Henderson Hyper Stretch suit with mine.
JOHN B I got a medium and it seems to fit very well, I am 6' and around 140 pounds and normally wear size 31 by 34L pants. It has plenty of lift (doing lake clean ups I can pull up most boat anchor's and such rather easily) and a very comfortable fit, I have used it on over 25 dives and am very satisfied with buying this one over any of the others I have looked at between the features, comfort and price.
YOKO M I suggest go with size small. I am about your size and I like the way it fits on me :)
RYAN J I ordered the XL and I am 6ft 220 lbs with a 34 in waist. The waist I would say runs big so I would aim for you on the small size of the BCs.
AUDREY L I'm 5'6" and 130lbs and it fits me slightly baggy. Confortable with everything at my grasp. I got the medium
Shopper I'm 1,65 metre and 65 kg what would be my size?
JEFFERY H I would guess a small, but I'm not sure.
sorry,
Jeff
ROLLIN E My daughter is about your size. She wears the european M asian large. She says it fits great.
YONGTAE K Hi, I bought three this one, all for my family.
That's good for us as a beginer's equipment because it's jacket type.
I'm 73kg and 1.70, and 50-years-old. That's wonderful equipment to all of us.
Large velcro belt with strap, convenient weight pocket system, easy touch in/deflate switch, there's easy going with this BCD. Also spare pocket for other stuff, actually it's for extra weight pocket. But it;s very useful.
Shopper I am a 5' 4" female weight 155 lbs. Would like a BCD to use for warm water diving--skin or 1-5 mil suit. Is a small the right size?
ROLLIN E My daughter is 5'7" and weighs around 140. She typically dives with a 5 mil suit. Her medium fits quite well, and she really likes it. I would suggest a medium. Its easier to pull the straps in if its a little big, but you can't let them out past their limits. Leisure Pro has a very easy return policy if something isn't right, so if its too big you just pay return shipping.
Hope this helps!
MATTHEW P Small is the correct size.
Shopper Im 5'11 200 lbs 34" waist, what size would fit me?
RON A I actually bought 2 of these. I'm 5'8"about 185 and I bought a xl and I got a L for my wife. i can wear either as there is a lot fo adjustment. My son is 5-11" about 175 and also wears hers. Like i said there is plenty of adjustment but I would recommend the large
LAURENCE P I have a lg it is kind of heavy but it has been very sturdy not sure weather i would buy another like it
DAVID B the l-xl is way big. I am 6'0" and 220 lbs and the l-xl was too big. If they have a m- l get that.
RICK W depends where you carry your weight. If it's mostly around your belly, then Lg/XL, If it is all over, then Medium - both recommendations for warm diving in a 2/3 mm. If you are cold water 7mm+ wetsuit diving, then the L/XL.
SUSAN F I am almost exactly your size (5' 10", 185, 34 in waist) I have a medium and it is perfect for me...I dive in everything from a 3mm to a trilam drysuit and the lift capacity is way more than adequate. There is quite a bit of adjustment possible and you're on the cusp for sizing though so you might want to go with the large.
KENN P I bought this for my son who is 5'8. I am about the ame size as you and the Euro M that I bought for him is definaely too small for me.(I just tried it on).. I'd try a Euro L or XL if you are a cold water diver.
JEFFERY H I'm 6'0", 235lbs with a 36 inch waist and mine fits fine with room to tighten up if I ever drop a few lbs, so you should be fine. It's a nice vest for the money.
Jeff
Shopper I'm a male.
I'm 173cm. 61kg. 29"waist and 33" chest.
Which size is right for me?
JAMES H based on this information, I purchased a medium for my son, a advanced open water diver. I also purchased one for myself, it fits great for both of us. I use a wet suit and also dive with a dry suite. Lots of adjustment, a really great BC
jamie
RANDAL V small, but also make or find a crouch strap with this model. great vest but a strap makes it way better and room for error on size selection.
AL A My Tusa BCD is a Euro Medium. US size not listed on BCD.
I am 5'7", 175 lbs, 35" waist 40" chest
The medium fits me fine. Based on your dimensions my only concern for you would be your chest size. But I think you could get away with it.
JAMES E I weigh 210 and the large fits great,we love the bcc ,,,my wife has the medium...enjoy...easy integrated weight system...
ITEC495-TEAM4 I What size should I get? I am 5'11 and weigh 175 lb. I do mostly cold diving and would need to fit the appropriate wet suits on comfortably with the BCD. Thanks.
PHILLIP J I weigh 165 and have amedium and even diving with 6 mil still have room to spare. Has plenty of storage and dump valves can be helpful, dumpable weights are a dream. If you think you are prone to gaining weight you might consider the large, but I THINK A MEDIUM WOULD SUIT YOU TO 190
ROBERT R I bought a medium, am 5ft 5 and weight in at 160lbs. I would use tusa sizing chart, it runs true to size. It is adjustable so you have some lee-way on wearing different wetsuits. I love this bcd. Would buy again.
PATRICK M I'm 5'8' 180 and have three Tusa BCD's in Med with an ONeal 7mm. I highly recommend this model if your not trying to travel light. Like all Tusa BCD's this model has plenty of adjustments. I've owned numerous brands over the last 25 years and I now use nothing but Tusa.
ITEC495-TEAM4 I Thank you, you have greatly helped my decision!
BRYAN S I purchased this BC a few years ago and have around 50 dives on it. The size chart is spot on. For a 175lb person, I'd go with the M. I am 6'2", 240, and have the L/XL. The velcro adjusts to accomodate a great deal, and I would agree with the chart that the L/XL size would cover the 190-260 range well. The weight capacity has been great - I have had 20lbs in it with room to spare. The lift capacity has been good in all conditions as well from cold to tropic.
TIM T I am 5'10" and since I am 53, I have a slight belly. I try swim but still weight about 216. I usually use a 3 mil L wetsuit. The Euro M BCD fits me fine and I would think that would be a good fit. I would recommend this for a cold water diving. It travels well. But I would look at a lighter suit for warm water divers.
RICK W I do warm water diving 2/3mm suit), I am 6 ft 180lbs, and the Lg/XL is way too big for me. I have it set as tight as the adjustments will let me go. I should never have kept it. I can only guess that even with a 7mm wetsuit that L/XL will be too big.
GARY K Hello! I'm not entirely sure what size would be best for you, but I am 135lbs and 5'5'' and I have a Small (Euro)/ Medium (Asia) BC and it fits like a glove. I've worn it both with and without a wetsuit, but usually with. It's also adjustable, as are all of the jackets so you could probably fit any of them to you. The large might be too big for you, but again, I'm not sure. The best thing to do is to go to your local dive shop and try some other BCs on for size, then once you know your size, buy one online for cheaper (unless you want to support your local dive shop!) -- Best of luck and happy diving -- Kristin
Shopper What kind of support does this have for the tank?
LeisurePro S In addition to the tank strap, the BCD has a "stabilizing harness" which has two separated rails to increase the tank?s security and prevent it from rolling.
Shopper I'm 33" Chest, 33" Waist, 5'10 and 175lb, What size do you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a medium.
Shopper How much weight does it hold?
LeisurePro S The BCD has a weight capacity of 26 pounds.
Shopper How much lift does this BC have?
LeisurePro S Depends on size. Xsmall = 28 pounds, Small = 32, Medium = 41 pounds, Large/Xlarge = 47 pounds.
Shopper Does this BCD have rear weight pockets?
LeisurePro S Yes, this has two trim pockets on the sides.
Shopper I am a female 5"6, 165-175lbs, 34-36' waist, can you suggest a size for me?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a medium.
Shopper I ordered and XSmall, but I dive with a 3mm suit. Should I switch to a small?
LeisurePro S No, you should be fine staying with the XSmall.
Shopper What size BC should I order if I am 6'1", 180 lbs. and 34" waist.
LeisurePro S I would recommend the Large/XLarge.
Shopper I'm 5'11", 170# wearing a thick wetsuit for cold water diving. What size should I choose. The sizing chart doesn't fit my dimensions for height & weight. Thanks
LeisurePro S Since you will be diving with a thick wetsuit, I think you will be okay with the large/xlarge.
Shopper How much does this weigh
LeisurePro S Has a shipping weight of 9.90 pounds
Shopper specs for bc's made from denier nylon use numbers to show the strength of the fabric. which is stronger or better 500 or 1000?
LeisurePro S The denier numbers refer to the size of the yarn used to make the nylon. Higher denier numbers usually mean more durability. So this BC, with a high 840 denier number, is built with material that's meant to last.
Shopper I'm 1,86 metre and 97 kg what would be my size?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the Large/XLarge.
Shopper I typically use a 26lb weight belt, will the L/XL be capable of adding this weight so i can remove the weight belt thanks
LeisurePro S The total recommended weight is 22 lbs, but you can fit up to 35 lbs. So I think you'll be be able to work out 26.
Shopper My wife is 5-7 120 lbs i order a small BCD Tusa Platina do you think this is the right size to order? also BCD does come with power infator correct?
LeisurePro S A small will work out well. Yes, this BC comes with a power inflator and the quick disconnect LP hose.
Shopper I am 5'6" 135-145 with a 30" waist what is your opinion on a sizefor this BC
Shopper I'm interested to buy BC Tusa 3860 (in stock). which size is corectly for me - I'm 176 cm waist, 103 cm in chest and 85 kg of weigt. Which size is for me M or L-XL? thanks
LeisurePro S I would try the med first, the L-Xl will probably be too big.
Shopper I'm a 34-36" waist & 50-51" chest will the lg/ex-lg fit?
Shopper Im 5,11ft and way 196 Pounds what would be my size?
LeisurePro S Large / Extra Large
Shopper Do the TUSA BCD's (particularly the 3860) have oral inflation capability?
LeisurePro S Yes all of their BC's are orally inflatable.
Shopper I'm 6' 175-185lbs 34-36" waist. On a recent dive trip they kept issuing me a medium Mares BCD because the large was kind of loose. It ran out of shoulder adjustment and kept riding up from the waist cumberbund. With all that info in mind, what size would you recommend for me in this Tusa rig? Size chart doesn't seem particularly appropriate for my body specs.
LeisurePro S Thin wetsuit a medium, thick wetsuit a large
Shopper I am interested in a sizing chart for the Tusa Platinum Evolutin BCD
Shopper Will an older Scuba Pro Air II work with this BC Thanks
LeisurePro S Yes, an AIR 2 will mount just fine.
Shopper Does the Tusa Platinum Evolution BCD have two tank straps in back? Thanks, Kim
LeisurePro S No, only one Strap
