Shopper At the end of a dive trip I am used to unscrew the rear lower dump valve and filling the inside of the BC with fresh water to keep it clean for storage. I cannot get the lower air dump valve cover to unscrew. Could you advise on how to remove the cover both for cleaning and also for replacement of the dump mechanism spring and release? The top air dump that is integrated with the low pressure inflator seat does screw off nicely but what about the rear lower dump valve? Thanks
AMIRIS A I've never attempted to unscrew the lower dump valve. I've just done the top one by adding a little water and swishing it around. I figure that's probably good enough.

DONNA M I picked the Liberator Sigma BCD for several reasons:
1) It has integrated weights but also trim weight pockets on back at each side of the tank.
2) It is relatively light-weight (good for packing) but also has rather large pockets on each side for taking down dive lights, etc and keeping your hands free with nothing dangling from D clips while on dives.
3) The fabric is a strong a durable.
4) It holds the tank very stable with no swing from side to side.
BRIAN H I purchased this BCD for my wife (a 110 pound female), and she has been very happy with it.
First of all, this BCD made the "short list" of options for her because it is available in petite women's sizes.
Besides size, other specific features that my wife was looking for were:
-Integrated wieght system to balance weight load around her body for less
-strain on her lower back.
-Jacket style which makes it more comfortable to float upright on the surface
-Large clips to make it easy to put on an remove the BCD with gloves on
-Large pockets for storing various items
-Steel D-rings for durability
The "icing on the cake" turned out to be that the shoulder straps are positioned to fit a woman's body more comfortably, meaning that the straps lay a bit more to the sides of the wearer's chest rather than toward the center - at least that is how it fits on her body.
MARK R I picked it because it was on sale @ a good price and it was a basic model. I don't like a lot of bells and whistles. I have 30+ dives on it so far and really enjoy it. I would buy another one!

SCOTT L It has great features for the price. Purchased as a gift for my wife. It is a nice unit, although she returned it as we discovered she had her heart set on a different model built specifically for women with a lycra bikini-style top.
JOSEPH B The Tusa was in my price range - I liked the construction material of the Tusa jackets I have seen. The weigth release was also not a touchy as others I have seen. I like the two additional weight pockets in the rear. I have never been a big fan of dumping all my weight at once or having someone else do it for me. I have not found any problems with the jacket during the summer dive season. I have made at least 20 dives in both fresh and salt water. I am an old weight belt diver since the 1960s and I like this jacket. Hope this helps.

I picked this BCD because, for me, it was the best bang for my buck. It's a weight-integrated vest with big pockets. My wife and I have both done about 30 dives with this BCD, and we're very happy with them.

GARY D A good friend of mine got one last year while in new York on vacation. For the price you can't beat this bcd. I used mine 12 times in 5 days a few months ago while in Mexico and loved it. Next to a dive watch it is the best dive investment I've made. They do run a bit snug in size so depending on how big of a wet suit you wear you may need to go up a size. Hope this helps.

ERIN S Depends entirely on what size you are inquiring about. My wife's size "small" feels about the same as all my others: not really lighter or heavier. As an aside, she didn't care for the fit, so we bought her a Cressi AquaPro 5 instead. I used it for two weeks in Bonaire and found it to be ok, but it was a tad small for me. Want to buy a slightly used size "small" for a bargain?
MARK W I am not sure exactly... But I will weigh it and post it back tomorrow. It is about average size and weight. It is not feather light as some proclaim but sure not as heavy as some I have used.. The only complaint is the weights are sometimes tight to go back in if BC is inflated partially. But no problems getting them out.

LORI M don't know how much it weighs, you can hold an eight pounder in each sleeve, but it is very hard to dump the weight in an emergency. There are also two pockets in the back that holds 4-5lbs each. . If you are wetsuit diving it is comfy and nice, and holds a solid 20-26lbs. . If you are drysuit diving and require more weight, then beware of the extra side pockets, not meant for weight, because the bottom of the big side pockets are mesh and rip apart if yer underwater a lot. . All in all, great BC, comfy. . good for wetsuit diving.

I love the big pocket, the integrated weight system and the back pockets.
I think that it is a little bit heavy BCD. Use it In the Red Sea mostly and the Mediterranean sea.
I have the size XL-XXL and the weigh is 2.5 kg = 5.5 lb

STEVEN P Duh, it weighs 8.00 lbs, depending on size....
STEVEN P it is a little heavy since it is made sturdy as an integrated BCD it can hold 28 LBS or more....it's good for cold water diving when you need alot of ballast to get down with a 5-7mmm wetsuit. Just remember the weight of the bcd aluminum plate is that much less weight you need in the pockets...I've taken mine with me by air to utila, HN and cave diving in Mexico....it folds down good and can accomodate a 100 psi nitrox tank very well...just go to the TUSA website and check the specifications....
I've dove my liberator 45 times and it seems to be very sturdy....
Shopper Does anyone know how I attach the interior cushioning for back-plate?
MICHAEL E You have to remove the backplate... take off the main tank strap, then just tug at the plate, it's secured by 4 pop-fasteners. It'll just pop off.
Then you can attach the cushion to the plate, pop it back on then reattach the strap.
IAN T it just stretches around the corners on the inside of bc like a fitted sheet on a bed.once i [put mine it stayed on just fine.i really like this bc.big pocckets for gear andvery comfortable,plus a great price.
SIM P You attach the velcro strap apound the back of the plate (squeeze your fingers through) and then the rest of the piece stretches around the edge of the plate. I was confused by it too but did that and it was fine even after about 40 dives since. Hasn't budged.
Connor G Yes, you simply slip the back of the cushion over the hard plate (no need to unscrew anything) and then wrap the velcro straps around the underside of the hardplate. You may need to stretch the cushion out a bit but It will fit and it makes a world of a difference!

Shopper is this bc good for beginners?
AMIRIS A Absolutely: My initial BCD was bought in 1995 when I first got certified. I wore it until it literally came apart. It lasted me those 15 years and some 300+ dives. When I had to go shopping for a new one I was looking for a simple BCD at a descent price. I found this Tusa BCD to be simple enough and easy to use. It has plenty of pockets for your weights, plenty of rings to snap on accessories ( computer, lights, knifes, compass, etc.) and the quick weight- release is a nice extra ( With my old one , I wore a weight belt). The pockets are big and easy to get to. It fits snug and has buckles to adjust them if necessary. It's ideal for beginners and even intermediate and expert divers. I did not see the need to spend $300, $400 or even more for a BCD. I'm happy with it.
HEIDI G It is a good beginner BC. This was my boyfriend's first BC and he enjoyed using it. The only real issue he had was with the quick release system for the weights.
JOHN L Yes, would be great for a beginner! I have dove mine im guessing 45 + times.. Very happy and would not trade it! I spearfish, and it has plenty of D rings and is not too bulky.. Perfect for my needs.

The side and back floatation should be good for a beginner. It takes a little practice to get used to the locking mechanism on the integrated weight system. Just make sure your buddy double checks that your weights are secured. There is an indicator that says "Locked" when they have clicked into place.
Nice feature is all the adjustment to size so that you can use it whether is warm or cold water gear.
Really no negatives. Enjoy blowing some bubbles!
KEITH A K Yes this bc is good for a beginner. The only issue we have had with it is it is not easy getting the integrated weights in and out.

KEVIN K I have been diving for many years but not frequently so I am not a true beginner but this is the first BCD I have ever bought. It is a simple straight forward design and should be easy to use. It was plenty comfortable and is very adjustable. Surface flotation is comfortable as well. I think it is a good basic BCD
TOM D yes this BC is good for beginners. I am an advanced diver and will try this vest on tuesday with a 100 cubic ft tank and pony bottle. Vest worked well in Bonaire we'll see how it measures up in North Carolina wreck diving.

CHARLES U I really like the Tusa Liberator Sigma BCD. I used it for the first time last month in Cabo on 8 dives. It has a nice fit and stays tight against the body during the dive. The tank is held securely in place. It was easy to manuever through the water in this BCD. I could stay level and alter position easily and this is not true with all jackets so the air chamber is well designed. The handles are easty to locate and operate and it has two big pockets. It is an excellent value at the price. When loading weight into the jacket I found the weight pocket handles a little difficult to operate when loading back into jacket, but once in they are secure and very easy to find and extract so I really don't have a problem with them. I believe this BCD will be enjoyed by both beginners and experienced divers.
KEVIN R I found the weight releases to be cumbersome. I would recommend another BC if you are looking for integrated weight. However, the price is nice if that is not a concern.

RENIEL C Good question. In my opinion this is not a bad BCD, but it also is not necessarily the best of buys. This BCD has the peculiarity that it's a little smaller than it should be. A large sized Tusa is equivalent to a Medium in other brands. (Tusa is a little smaller than it should be for its size). Also, the nylon band for the tank is a little too high. I give it a 3.5 out of 5. Not too bad, but could be better. On the other hand it is a good price for having integrated weights. Just make sure it is a good fit for you and it'll be fine.
KYLE S This bc is a great value and an excellent bc for any level. It is slighlt bulky with the bigger pockets, but I actually like this for my camera or extra weights. I have over 50 dives on this bc so far with no complaints.
BRIAN G Definitely, it has everything a beginning diver needs and more as long as they plan on diving in a warm to moderately warm environment. The integrated weight pockets are nice but are not big enough to add the extra weight it would take if someone was wearing a 7mm - 9mm wet suit or a dry suit. But if you are planning on using it for water 65 degrees or warmer then I would say you should be fine.
CLAYTON W Because Leisure Pro would not stand behind other products they sold, I am no longer doing business with them. I have spent a good deal of money in the past, but when a time arrived to back 2 flashlights worth $21 each they declined to support the product. They were miss-advertised for 500 feet but failed in 40, due to this lack of product support, I will not continue to do business with them.
KIM T this is a good beginners bc. simple to use, sturdy and dependable with lots of rings to clip things to. very comfortable underwater, too.
SEAN M I bought it after having much experience diving. I had no issues using it though, and the ease of use was great. Integrated quick release weight pouches are a big plus so you don't have to wear a weight belt. I still dive this BCD and am more than happy with my purchase.

I am 260lbs and i was using this vest as a borrowed vest from a friend and with 24lbs that i was able to comfortably place in the vest pockets worked just fine.
LeisurePro S The 3860 has a few additional features including a waist support system which "enhances comfort and fit by dispersing the weight load around the hips. It integrates the shoulder harness with the rear stabilizing plate and cummerbund to effectively unload weight from the hips". it also has nine D-ring accessory attachments (5 stainless steel, 4 resin) and two rear quick dump valves instead on just one.
