My wife and I each have had our computers for 2 years. These things are great - easy to read, easy to operate, easy to maintain, easy to set up alarms, easy to change batteries, etc. Read the manual! The alarms are are easy to hear and are a useful feature. One of the units failed after around 15 dives and was quickly replaced under warrantee (one of the conrol buttons failed making the unit nearly unusable). The dive log for downloading seems a little quirky on one of the units - restarted the dive count so there are 2 sets of dives showing the same dive number now. If I were diving in remote locations, I would carry a mechanical gage set as a backup.

Although this computer has never failed me underwater on the ten dives I have used it, there is a major flaw in the battery cap. I was diving with friends in a remote area in the Philippines and when we surfaced, I should have removed the console via my quick-disconnect before handing the setup over to the boat captain! He lifted my BC etc over the hull and pulled it onto the deck. The computer smacked the side of the boat and that's all she wrote. Upon inspection, I noticed a crack in the battery cap on the back of the computer and my diving was over. Come to mention it, everyone else had rental gear with analog depth gauges that read 1/2 the depth that they were at (diferent story)and were relying on me to lead the way, so everyone's dive day was over. Needless to say, no dive shop has this simple piece that you're supposed to be able to change the battery yourself with; not in the Philippines and not in our next dive destination of Palau. I had to wait one month after returning for my local dive shop to special order the part. In hindsight, all of this can be avoided if you buy the quick-disconnect and use it on every dive.Blue-water!

Comments about Sherwood CG4125 Wisdom Dive Computer with Compass and Quick Disconnect:
I purchased two of these dive computers. One for me and one for my wife. On the second dive mine went haywire. Alarms went off as the computer said I was over 100 feet deep. I thought to myself wow what a cool divemaster he took us on a deep dive. Then it started warning me that I was getting short of air.Thats when I got a bit nervous. The divemaster and my wife's instruments were at 42 feet deep. This unit was defective. My wife's unit was fine.

So far i've only used the Wisdom on 4 dives. At first the funtions all seemed very intimidating. With the first dive, the computer just took over and logged everything on its own. I still recommend reading the owner's manual through once or twice... It will make more sense later. The manual could be revised to be easier to understand. Maybe Sherwood could come out with a "Dive Computers for Dummies" book. Someday I hope to understand all the funtions. Right now I've figuered out everything I need anyway.
