Questions about this item:
Marla L How much does it weigh?
CASSIE H I am not sure about how much its weighs exactly but it is probably about 5 lbs or so! It is a great BCD, it packs up nicely for traveling and i feel that i got a great deal. Ive been using it for about 5 yrs now and have never had an issue :)
LANA M Hi Marla,
The exact wt, I'm not sure, but it is very comfortable and lightwt. I have back issues and was concerned of wt and comfort; I am elated with it, as it has proven to be a very good pick for me. The only problem I have had with this BCD, is the inflation valve stuck open during a dive earlier this year. It was a very easy fix for my dive master, but it is something I would advise to have checked before you dive. My dive master advised he has seen this before with this brand; however, it is a very easy fix and advises all in all, it is a good BCD.
Hope this helps,
LS
JACQUELINE B I'm not sure of this BC's exact weight, but it is light, and folds up nice for traveling.
THOMAS N Estimate between 4&5 pounds.
MARK H BCD is pretty light HOWEVER the pockets are useless. I can't imagine anyone opening the zipper, using a pocket and zipping it up by braille. I'd never, never buy this BCD if I thought I'd need the pockets. I hope Sherwood fires the idiot that thought of this. Wife likes it in spite of this shortcoming. I just bought a ScubaMax Versa Travel BCD which is VERY light, packs tight, and I think is a superior value... AND it has conventional pockets, has a lot of lift and carries weight efficiently. Highly recommended by a professional PADI instructor.
Shopper 5'6 just under 140lbs ..34A bust.....would a small fit?
TOM I I'm thinking the answer is probably yes, but I'm 5'8, 120. so truly, you'll have to try it on. I wear mine completely cinched in - and I was a tad worried when I first put it on, but I've dived several times now with it and really like it. It's probably worth the try on.
STEPHANIE M I would say yes, but if it helps, I am 5'4, 120 lbs, 34b & I bought a small & have room. Love this BCD!!!!
RAYMOND P Should fit. Pretty close to my girlfriends measurements. She loves the back inflate much better.
JENNIFER H I'm only 5'2" and around 120lbs and it is big on me. So I would think it should fit. It is an excellent bcd though!
POLLY K My daughter bought a Medium Sherwood Solaris Women's BCD. She is 5'4" about 130lbs and a small 34B and this BCD fits her very well. I am 5'4" about 150-155lbs and a 36B and the medium felt too small for me.
JUSTIN M II would think a small would be fine.
TOM I I have forwarded to question to the owner - I bought it as a gift.
She loves it but the cap on the release hose worked loose and leaked.
CINDY E Yes, a small should fit you fine. I am 5'2, 145 lbs., 38B Bust and wear a medium. It's a little big when I wear a thinner wetsuit (3mm and less) but fits great when I wear my 7mm. Cindy
CINDY E Yes, I would say so. What thickness wetsuit will you be mostly wearing?
I am 5'2, 145 lbs., 38B bust and I have this in a size medium. It is a little big when I wear a thin wetsuit but fits great when I wear my 7 mm. The only thing I don't like about this BCD is the pocket. If you unzip it and let it hang, it holds pretty much but don't try to put anything in it and zip it back up.
Other than that, I love this BCD. It's very comfortable. A second Cam Band would be nice too. I know, I'm asking for a lot. Enjoy. Cindy
MEREDITH M I'm 5'3", 135ish lbs and a 34D. I have a Medium so I would think that a Small should work for you.
Shopper Hi. can you suggest a size for woman, 5 ft 4. wears a 38D or DD, 185 lbs? I normally dive a mans medium..would a large fit?I'm a square build.
CINDY E I had a Tusa Selene jacket style and got rid of it and went with the Sherwood Solaris back inflate. I hated the squeeze I felt with the jacket style.
ELLEN F I am 5 ft 3, 34 DD and weigh 123. I bought a small.
MELVIN S Yes a large should fit without a problem. I am 5'2" and weigh 145lbs and I am using a small.
JACQUELINE B Hi Shopper,
I'm 5'7", and a little Overweight as well, though I'm not as busty as you, I also wear a men's medium BC, I think the Woman's Sherwood Solaris Large should fit you well. And since the Sherwood Solaris straps are adjustable, you should have no problems. Good Luck!
RONALD F My wife had a medium size - she is 5'6", 160 lbs, 34C. So would think a large would be the best fit.
From a personal standpoint: are you looking strictly for a back-inflated BC? Reason I ask is that after diving with the Solaris, we sold it back to LP and she got a jacket style. She did not like the back buoyancy; the air in the bladder would go to one side or another underwater, resulting in her "tipping" on her side throughout the dive. Furthermore, it was difficult to control on the surface.
She now dives with the Tusa Selene (similar to the Liberator). After a week in Bonaire, she said it had fantastic control and was very comfortable.
Just our take on it.
Shopper How many dump valves are on this product?
LeisurePro S There are two pull dump valves in addition to the deflate button valve on the corrugated hose.
Shopper My wife is 5'6", 128 lbs. Small or medium?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a small.
Shopper Is there some back plate beneath the softer material in the back?
LeisurePro S There is no hard backplate material in the backpack (like metal or hard plastic) but there is some soft support in the backpack area.
Shopper Please explain about the weight system. What size for a woman 5'7" and 150 lbs. with a 32" waist?
LeisurePro S The weights are integrated into the BC. All that means is that lead weights are placed in two zippered pockets which then fit into the inside of the BCD. It eliminates the need for a weight belt which can often be heavy and uncomfortable on the hips/back. The weights are quickly and easily ditchable via two oversized release clips. For you I would recommend a medium.
Shopper I've got a 48 inch chest, would the large fit me? 38-40 waist. Is there a Velcro belt in addition to the clip buckle or just the big buckle? Pull dump valve on low back? With weight integration, can the pockets really hold anything, e.g. DAN signal tube rolled up? What's the lift of this BC?
LeisurePro S A large should fit you. Here is a size chart to help you compare your height and weight. This BCD has a Velcro cummerbund as well as the clip in the front. The weight integration pockets, when carrying weight, can't hold much else in addition, but you should be able to roll up the signal tube tight and fit it into the outer pockets. This BCD also has a lower rear pull dump valve for releasing air. The lift of the BCD ranges from 18 pounds for an XS to 37 pounds for a large.
Shopper What is the lift on a size small, and what is the size range on a small as well?
LeisurePro S A small has 18 pounds of lift. Here is a size chart to help you compare your height and weight.
Shopper Is ths a bc designed for a women?? What size would a woman who is 5'6" and weighs 170# order? Thank you.
LeisurePro S Yes and size medium
