Questions about this item:
Shopper One of the reviews stated that the rubber face plate fell apart. Exactly what is the "rubber" material? I want to make sure I am not allergic to it.
DALE C I don't have a lot of mileage on mine, but this faceplate is quite sturdy and yet easy to get purge going. Being smooth without a button, there's nothing to get caught on anything. Also, Sherwood has always been renown for being sturdy and tough equipment. I've been diving 45 years and that's always held up since they came on the market. I have a dive buddy with a 20+ year old Sherwood magnum, and it's still going strong. Hope this helps.

JAMES B Ive never tried the blizzard, but the Oasis is a good all around beginer regulator. Its an older model, but still good. The Sherwood SR1 looks good to.
MARY K O Although I have not tried the Blizzard, this is exactly what u have heard too! I love my oasis and so does my daughter and grand daughter! It virtually eliminates dry mouth, a huge plus!!
Mike E The specs say that the Sherwood Oasis is Nitrox compatible, but an answer says it's not - can someone confirm which it is?
DALE C I have only used my Oasis for Nitrox and it has no problems with that.
David R Pretty much every reg is fine out of the box up to 40% nitrox however some MFG including Sherwood list to have a nitrox kit installed for nitrox.
KIT H I bought 4 oasis regulators back in 1991. When i started diving nitrox i called Sherwood and talked to one of their tech guys. At that time they weren't designed for nitrox. I replaced all these with the new model oasis in 2007. They say they are nitrox certified and we have used them pretty extensively with nitrox for the past few years. Call / e-mail Sherwood and talk to their technical people and convince yourself one way or the other... They are really good folks.

Shopper Does the Oasis have adjustable air delivery?
DALE C It does not have the manual adjustment, but it has a boost feature that automatically boosts the output if you are pulling harder on it. I used the adjustable type for over 10 years, but this is better as it's automatic. I love this feature.
LeisurePro S The Oasis does not have adjustable air control, but check out the Maximus regulator which does.
Shopper Is the Oasis 1st stage balanced and environmentally sealed?

LeisurePro S This is fine for most cold water (lakes, quarries, etc). If you're planning on going below 50 degrees, I would recommend looking at the Blizzard, Sherwood's cold-water specific regulator. But above 50, this should work fine.
Shopper Is the Oasis Nitrox compatible?
LeisurePro S No, the manufacturer recomends the reg be serviced with a nitrox service kit before being used with nitrox.
