Shopper Can this regulator be used for warm water? Is it better than the Oasis for warm water usage?
ROBERT F I've had this reg for almost 4 years and many frigid water quarry dives in the midwest and have had absolutely no problems. But to answer your question I have been to the Gulf 3 times on shark tooth dives-just love to find them fossils- anyway, the depth was only between 20 and 30 feet but the auto compensation feature worked perfectly as if i was at 90 ft. in 49 degree water. I believe the water temp had little or no effect on its performance. Remember that this reg does require a little more draw pressure than most strictly warm water regs. You become accustomed to it quickly. I would recommend a custom molded mouthpiece though, none of the regs for sale have a mouthpiece worth a sh**. PS: also invest in a bubble extension for this reg if your a fossil hunter like me it really helps the vision.
JEFFREY M Yes it can be used in warm water. We own this and 4 Oasis models. In warm water it performs the same as the Oasis. Not better not worse.
CHAD R Had this reg for 5 years. Always used in clearwater fl never had any issues. never even had it serviced works great
JASON D The blizzard can be used for both cold and warm water. I bought the blizzard for its versatility but I have only ever used it in warm tropical water. The regulator has been very reliable over the past 4 years I highly recommend it.
ERIC C Yes, I primarily use mine in warm water and have for some time now. It is designed to be used in cold water also. Regulators can freeze up in really cold water, which will shut off the airflow. The blizzard it is made to resist freezing. Im not sure about the oasis since I do not have one.
RASTKO K not a problem at all for warm water; i've used it mainly for tropical water dives. i cannot comment about the oasis, however
KIM B Yes you can use it in warm water. I've only used it in Cozumel where the water is 84-86 degrees and it works quite well. Can't compare to the Oasis as I've never used that one. This is the only one I've ever used.
MATTHEW S In my experience this regulator works fine in warmer water - I have used it in the channel islands (upper 60s F) with no complaints. I have yet to try this in very warm, equatorial waters, but I've never found a regulator to work worse in warmer water. However, it's greatest feature is how well it preforms in cold water with sub-freezing air temps.
I have not dove with the Oasis, so I cannot comment on that.
ILLAN L I only use mine in warm water. From what I understand, the only difference between this one and the oasis is that the blizzard is designed to prevent icing by trapping moisture. That feature also helps prevent your throat from drying out.
