Capt Dave G need one for a dry suit but needs to handle 40lbs is there one?
TERY G Capt Dave,
I have the Seawolf Harness, and I have had to wear over 40lbs while using it with my drysuit during SARR operations to get on the bottom and be able to stay there. The harness will accommodate 30lbs of soft weights. I just went out to see how much weight I could possibly cram into it. It would only hold 34lbs of soft weight, MAX. I could barely get the zipper closed. It comes with two mesh bags with handles that you put your weight into and then stuff that in each of the side pouches. That way when you drop your weight your only looking for these two orange bags instead of individual weight. However, you can buy and add additional pockets to the harness waist strap to accommodate more weight or do as I have had to and just add the additional weight directly in your BC. That way, if god forbid, you have to dump your weight your not dumping all 40 lbs all at once. Hope this helps.
GEORGE R Have used this harness with success with up to 20lbs.of soft weights.
Will it take 40? It probably is strong enough, but the quick release
pockets may not take that amount.
DAVID H Don't buy this one.
The one from DUI is much better:
DUI Weight and Trim "II" Weight Harness System - Large
It holds 40 lbs, and is designed much better than this one, I blew it buying this one.
ROBERT A Yes DUI weight trim 40 Diving Unlimited International,Inc.
ROBERT C Your best bet is probably this plus some tank weights, which will help help to distribute the weight out better. Wearing 40 lbs on your waist alone would probably make you tip vertically. If you have to have one that handles 40 lbs, you can look into the DUI Weight & Trim System.
