When looking at a compass on a console it is difficult to impossible to hold it in the same orientation every time even the height that you mount the cylinder will affect the result as you have more or less hose so the console will sit at a slightly differant angle this means you will read a differing heading almost everytime. But with a wrist compass it you have the compass on your Left arm and take bearings when holding your right elbow you will be able to replicate the same possition every time.
