Questions about this item:
Shopper What is the difference between Suunto D4 and D4i?
MITCHELL D From what I can tell the D4i is a newer version of the D4. It looks like it may
have an optional wireless tank guage also .
NIKOLAI D The d4i must be new, the suunto web site claims it supports air integration. The d4 does not have air integration, it used to be you had to get the D9 ($$$$) for hoseless air integration.
STEVEN E The "i" means it has "optional wireless air integration ? current cylinder pressure, remaining air time"
Hanns G how big is the D4?
JORGE M The D4 and D6 are the same size. I had a D4 but now have a D6.
The shape is nearly circular, with a diameter of 2 inches.
DON H Approx. 1.5" dia and 3/8" thick
HENRIK N Hi Hannes.
The D-4 is about 50mm diameter and 15mm thick.
It's a great piece! Highly recommended.
Henrik Nejezchleb
NIKOLAI D The face is just shy of 2" in diameter and 15mm (0.6") tall. It's about the size of a typical sports wristwatch, but maybe a little thicker. The straps are a decent length and an additional extension strap is provided to compensate for wearing wet/dry suit and gloves.
I wear mine comfortably as a daily-wear watch.
I originally bought this because I thought it would be convenient to have a daily-wear watch that doubles as my dive computer, but now would prefer a larger face for a dive computer for easier readability and usability while underwater w/ mask, gloves, etc.
The D4 face is not readable unless you're looking at it from almost a direct angle, especially when the backlight is on. I would hope that the newer versions (I bought mine over 2 years ago) have increased the contrast ratio & viewing angle for better readability.
SETH H It's just a lillte bigger then a regular watch
MATTHEW P Off the top of my head, I would guess 2 inches or so in diameter. Big enough that you know it's there and easy enough to read. But, not overly large.
Shopper Where can I get a repalacment battery?
LeisurePro S The replacement battery is a CR-2450N watch battery; we have them here currently for 4.99.
Shopper What is the battery life?
LeisurePro S Approximate battery life expectancy: 0-100 dives per year ?> 2 years, 100 dives per year ?>1.5 years, 300 dives per year ?>1 year
Shopper Does it display CNS oxygen toxicity level? Does it tell air remaining?
LeisurePro S This computer is not air integrated, but does CNS level.
Shopper What is the difference between the D4 and D6?
LeisurePro S The main difference is the D6 comes with an electronic compass feature as well as a gauge mode and the ability to perform gas switching during a dive. Here is a comparison of the two with a more detailed listing.
Shopper What are the differences between the D4 and D6 besides the compass?
LeisurePro S The main differences are the D6 has the compass, a gauge mode, and the ability for gas switching during a dive.
Shopper Do you stock an extention strap for the D4?
LeisurePro S Sorry, unfortunately, we don't have the strap for the D4.
Shopper What's the battery life time?
LeisurePro S Battery life is approx. 3 years.
Shopper Can you change the units?
LeisurePro S Yes, units (metric or Imperial) are set by the user.
Shopper Does the D4 have a deep stop algorithm?
LeisurePro S Yes, has the Suunto Deep Stop RGBM algorithm.
Shopper How do I chose between a Stinger and a D6 other than price?
LeisurePro S The main difference is that the D6 can be used for gas mixing. It also has a deep stop algorithm, and a built-in digital compass. Otherwise, they have similar features ? back light, full deco, etc.
Shopper What's new or different about the D4 compared to other dive computers? Is it suitable for less experienced divers? Can I peruse the owner's manual over the net to get a sense of how well it's written.
LeisurePro S Suunto describes the D4 as "an introduction to the Suunto range", perfect for introductory divers. It still has lots of features, but is just not set up for more technical options like multiple tanks, transmitters, etc. Here is Suunto's download page with all their manuals for you to puruse.
Shopper what color?? black?
Shopper Can you tell me if SUUNTO D4 has batteries thaty I can replace easily? Is there a compass by Suunto that can be attached to it?
LeisurePro S No compass at this time and not a user replaceable battery
