videos I took look great but very hard time focusing on pics in or out of water and yes I would press the button half way first. Once at dinner it would not focus AT ALL tried every different setting. Wish I would have brought my other camera for regular photos. And yes you can switch from video to photo in the water instruction book does not tell you how. It must be in sea mode and push display button

This is my first underwater camera and I am very happy with it. I read lots of reviews before finally deciding to get it. I read several comments about battery life of the camera and the strobe, the inability to switch between single pic and video mode, and the inability to review previous pics while underwater.Batteries: I was on a week long dive trip and charged the camera battery once. I brought LOTS of AA batteries for the strobe as several comments said you'd need to change them daily. I never changed them out at all. I pretty much kept the strobe on the whole dive (3 per day for 6 days). The camera I set to turn off automatically after 2 mins so maybe that's why the battery lasted for me. shot/video mode and reviewing previous pics: saw several comments that you couldn't switch between modes. Then I read some that said you could with the push of a button, but the review didn't say which button. It's the disp button. The same one to see previous pics. Pressing disp cycles through different modes. Once you get to the single shot review, use the arrow buttons to go back and forward as normal. Press disp again and it goes to video mode. I accidently took a video actually because I didn't press disp again to get back to single shot picture taking mode.So, I am very happy with the camera. The pics came out nice and clear, I just need to practice more. The strobe is bright, but at depth is just fine. If you're in a shallow, sandy area, don't really need it.And a comment on LeisurePro[...] Happy diving!

It works. Taking photos underwater is not easy--the light, the sediment, and the silly fish won't stand still. These problems exist no matter what level of expert you are and the equipment has to deal with it.

I had a problem with the camera (my fault) and the Sealife customer service representative was excellent; helpful and genuinely interested that the camera operated as it should

This camera is a nice entry level.

Whatever you guys say, I love my cam.

I took stunning photos without even the use of a strobe. I do recommend people to go visit underwater photography websites, before complaining. Where I dive, the visibility is not very good, and you have to learn to compensate by learning to use your cam well.

Contrary to some opinion: IT CAN SWITCH FROM VIDEO TO PHOTOS easily, with the click of a button (read other reviews, please). The color correction modes work beautifully, and there are loads of modes to choose from. You get close to your subject (macro) and shutter speed adjustments take the worry out of blurry pics.

I rated 4 out of 5 since there are many functions that need to be learnt before being able to enjoy the camera at first.

Please take a moment to view some of my pics. These are untouched by photoshop and taken without a strobe...only with lots of love and patience.

I used this camera for the first time on a couple of snorkeling trips while vacationing in Cancun. All together I probably shot around 250 pictures and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. They were beautiful. The color and clarity of the pictures is amazing. I have already blown up a couple to 8 x 10's and the sharpness is really good. The camera is easy to use and works as advertised. No issues with leaks or battery life. A great product.
