Questions about this item:
Shopper Well, just wondering about the sizing of these fins. I am size 12 bootie and some customers said that Large fits well, while others (and the sizing charts) say to get the X-Large... Help! Which size do I pick? Plus I live in mexico so exchanging these would be complicated...
DAVID T It depends on how thick the booties are. I assume 3 mm for Mexico, so probably L. XL if you do dry suit or 7mm. I'm a 11 and the M works fine for 3mm booties.
DRUE M My daughter has these fins and loves them. I can't help with sizing as she has a size 6 and wears a small. Sorry.
LEANDER H I wear a size 15 3mm bootie and the xlarge fins fit me great. Depending on the thickness of your booties, I would say buy a large fin for size 12.

STEVEN W I wear a size ten shoe and a size eleven dive boot 5mm material wirh sole and side rubber protection in the toe and heel area and I'm at the smallest size for the large fin. Or the largest size for the medium.
I choose the large to be safe if I got a heavier boot later I would be ok. The medium fin strap was fully extended and alot of pressure on my heel

I would think that you would be fine with a size X-Large unless your dive boot was like a tennis shoe or something real thick and heavy duty or body glove thin

One thing is to make sure that the heel strap isn't to tight if you are using a thin boot. Make sure that you try on the fins with the boot you will be using.
If your going to get new boots do that first

DAVID H I have used Apollo Bio Fins for over 10 years. Although they are great for no current dives, I have always felt that I need more power on dives with moderate to fast currents. Every couple of years I buy a new set of fins, try them out and eventually sell them. I am a bit of a gearhead. I used my Seawing Nova's for a week long dive trip in September and love them Great control (I am a photographer) and plenty of power when needed. The will be the ones I pack next dive trip.

MARK M My son picked this fin because he thought it was cool looking. Everyone in the family has tried it and believes it to be the most powerful and efficient fin. It has a mushy feel a little bit but it moves you faster than all other fins when you want to go fast. When you are tooling along it requires less effort than other fins we have tried, My daughter and wife have ordered it but I still like my mares volo power fins.

RIC R Very comfortable fine.. flexes well but also is stiff enough to manuver. The Heel strap and handle also very durable and is easy to get on and off. It was also highly rated in Scuba Magazine and I've used these since they came out in multiple situations - all with very good results.

HAROLD G I have been diving the Scubapro Wings for over twenty years.. I finally wore out my wings and needed a comparable fin. They are maneuverable and powerful without the stiffness of a blade that can easily cramp you up when you need that extra burst. They look goofy, but I like the new fin straps which are much easier to doff and don, and the fin itself is very effective.

I read reviews and literature prior to purchasing...we had split fins before this purchase...
Main Reasons:
Travel Weight - We do a lot of traveling and they're about 40% lighter than our other fins
Thrust Power- The literature doesn't lie...while diving we had to cross a pretty tough current the diver next to me with regular fins was kicking 3 or 4 times to my 1 strong kick...they're great...just a small slow kick is the equivalent of multiple big kicks with regular fins!
Only con I have found the Large size is a pain to pack...I wear a small which is a perfect sze for packing, my husband wears the large which can be challenging!

LUKE S Hi there. I am a divemaster and a couple of weeks away from being an instructor. I have used numerous fins over the years including traditional paddle style, splits, etc. These have the ease of kick of a split but the power of a paddle. Great in current. Great for scissor kicks. Great for frog kicks. The fastest fin I have used. Very light and easy too travel with. The bungie straps are like spring straps so donning/doffing are easy and they have held up well diving the North Atlantic out of Boston and strong surf in southern California. I still have a couple of other pairs of fins for specific situations but these are my overall favorites.
JOHN S A couple of reasons:
1. They have excellent propulsion
2. They are very easy to put on and take off with the elastic heel strap
3. They float which I think helps level you in a horizontal position under water
4. If you drop them when you take them off to get back on the boat they float and you can retrieve them.
They are the third set of fins I have owned and without question the best I have owned- Hope that helps.
ALEXANDER K I really enjoy this fin, very sturdy and gives me great propulsion with minimal effort. Also very maneuverable. The only problem is getting the "paddle" caught in the kelp (I dive in Catalina mostly), which shouldn't be a problem for 99% of the dives anyways.
Jean-Marie T I bought the Gorillas but find I don't get much propulsion. I read these are stiffer than the Nova's; could that be why? I have skinny little legs...
ROBERT J They added stiffness should give you more propulsion, but with a bit more work. I own a pair of the Novas. I used the Gorillas last month in Africa and they are quite a bit stiffer. You get more propulsion, but have to use solid kicks to get the full benefit from these fins.
MARK M My wife and son really like their seawing novas. They generate more thrust than just about any fin with less fatigue. My wife claims that she uses up less air with the novas.
GREG H I have tried a lot of fins over the years and do a series of underwater timed sprints every few years to choose the best fins for me when I upgrade. I have tried several of the ScubaPro fins, including these. I have also tried some of the much more expensive fins. Full foot fins always outperform open heel fins. The top performers are the surprisingly efficient Mares Avanti Super-Channel Full Foot Fins and the Mares Avanti Quattro Power Full Foot Long Blade Fins.
My favorites are the latter, but they take some training to build up your leg strength. I also have little skinny legs. I will often take both fins along for multi-day trips. If my feet get tired with the long fins, I know I can always switch over and go all day with the Super Channels.
AMY R I bought these for my son (14), who is an avid diver and snorkeler. He loves these fins and says they are very "fast". He is definitely leaving dad in the dust these days, so dad wants these fins also!
Shopper what would be the spare strap assembly to buy for this fin for the savadive kit?

DAVID A You really don't need a backup strap. The spring is very firmly attached and is metal. Save the space in your "savadive kit" for stuff you'll actually use.

Shopper My Husband just got a pair of these and he got size medium, (he wears a 10.5 shoe) I tried them on and they seem to fit me well, but do have a little room to move around inside. I am wondering if I need a Small, or if the Fins are like this? they were really comfortable and my boot slide right in them. I wear a size 9 in women's shoes? So any help would be appreciated. THOMAS J I'm take a men's size 10 shoe, and even with my dive boots on I have some extra room in the medium size Seawing fin. It's not really loose just has some more room so I'm sticking with the medium (8-10 according to Scubapro), but you may want to try the small before you make a final decision. I originally purchased a large from LeisurePro based on the sizing on the Scubapro website. Large supposedly fit a 9-12 shoe size. The large was way too big. The Seawings seem to run much larger that Scubapro suggests. LeisurePro will exchange the small for a medium if they don't fit right. Any chance you can try them on in some other shop before ordering them?.

GEORGE H I wear a size 12 (mens) shoe and I purchased a pair of large seawing novas. They were too tight with my boots, so I returned them for a pair of extra large. The extra large fit very well and I love the way the fins perform in the water. I suggest you stay with the larger size if they are comfortable. I used to swear by scubapro jet fins and used them for over 25 years. I am glad I switched to the seawing novas.
NICK & JANE O I have the large size there is alittle room side to side. My 3mm & 7mm boots have rubber souls so that helps them from moving around. I take a 11 to 11.5 shoe.

MARK M A woman's size 9 will fit better in a seawing nova size small rather than a medium.

ROBERT V Stick with the medium. wife has size 6 feet with a thick soled size 7 boot. medium is very comfortable for her. fin does not put pressure on the foot and, for us, performs outstandingly. we shore dive a lot so speed, power, and performance are important for us.

DENISE K "Room to move around inside" isn't a good thing. They shouldn't wiggle from side to side. My suggestion is to find a set of Small to try on...the Medium fit me like they do you, but Small is perfect. Just remember they shouldn't feel like they're squishng your feet, either.
DAVE F In my opinion you would be better with the mediums your husband should probably have large unless he wears a really thin set of booties,i wear a 9 1/2 shoe but i bought large as i wear them warm water with 6 mil booties and with my drysuit with large boots.
Jim L Somebody said they removed the bungie straps and attached some straps from other fins. How was this done? My wife would prefer to not have to use the bungie straps because they are too hard to get around the heal of her boot.
SAUL L I'm sure u can remove them, but I find them very convenient.
CARL B I use the bungie staps that came with the fins. They work just fine. They might take a bit more effort to put on, but work well and hold the fins in place comfortably.
DAVID A While the fins and strap are designed to not have to be worn very tight if the fins fit properly, you can always cut the bungee strap off with bolt cutters or a hack saw. However, I have found the bungee strap extremely comfortable wearing over wetsuit booties. In fact, I wear it so lose I was initially afraid they would slide off...but have had no issues at all with them. I definitely try the bungee strap a few dives before you alter the fins...you may actually prefer them. Best fins I've used in 40 years of diving! Enjoy!
D T After diving SCUBAPRO JetFins and TwinJets, my wife now dives the SeawingNovas -- and swears by them (finally she has a fin with enough thrust for strong currents & to keep up with me.) The Seawings look -odd- (she's now easy to pick out of other divers at a distance) but swim -great- (have dived them also & agree. Can only speak to the black Seawings, not the white.) No idea about changing out the bungie strap for a conventional strap. In my wife's experience the bungie strap, in addition to retaining the fins securely and comfortably, is easy to get on & off, even over hard-soled booties, a real boon when exiting the water up a ladder in rough seas. The Seawings rate a "2 thumbs up" straight out of the box--
KEVIN M Just snap them off, they have a standard strap mount. Rotate the mount up and look behind it and you will see how it comes off by pushing forwards. Any universal strap should then work. She also may have too small fins, you can get more bungies from scubapro for a larger size or go to a boat shop and buy a piece of marine grade bungie cord and make them as loose as she wants. The cord is just tied in a knot in the mount. Easy to replace. Hate to see her take off the bungies, that is one of the things that make these fins so cool.
Peter I i wear a size 10 shoe and ordered a large. With my 3mil. boot they fell great the fit fells snug my one concern is the heel strap does not feel very tight. can they be adjusted?also back up straps the ones they show are for another fin?
CHRISTOPHER H I wear a size 10 and these fins fit well. The straps are loose but not too loose. I am usually wearing a 5mm or 7mm boot. However I have worn my 3mm boots with these fins as well.
The fins provide a lot of power without too much leg strain.
RIC R Hey Peter... I don't think the straps are adjustable..I know the whole fin has a limited lifetime warranty including the strap (but I know that doesnt help when you are 1/2 around the world an one breaks). Perhaps a thicker boot will make you feel more comfortable w/ it.
ROBERT W You might ask Scubapro if the heel straps can be adjusted - I have no idea and would guess not because they are elastic in design. I wear a size 9 3 mil boot and ordered size medium, and they have worked great for me on both frog kicks and flutter kicks. My 3 mil Seasoft brand booties do have a fin retaining area built into the heel section. Fit has been great for me.
JEFFREY B The fins have a spring loaded strap. You just pull on the back of the strap to put it on. There is no further adjustment. I believe they are special straps. You might want to contact scubapro or leisurepro to find out which straps are the replacement/ back up straps.
WALTER A The heel straps cannot be adjusted due to their bungee chord style construction. To adjust how tight they feel, I have had success sliding the heel strap a little lower or higher on the back of my heel to tighten or loosen the tightness. The lower I place the strap, the tighter it feels.
As far as I know, there is no way for a diver to replace the strap if it breaks, although a Scubapro repair shop may be able to replace it for you. That said, the research I did on Scubaboard and other places regarding owner satisfaction and durability (including the straps) was very positive and that was a key factor in my decision to buy a couple of pairs. I am very satisfied with these fins.

I had the same concern in that the strap didn't feel as tight as I usually have worn my fins. However, I have had no issues with the fins coming free or feeling lose while diving. In fact, they are the most comfortable and efficient swimming fin I have ever used in 35 years of diving.

the strap does not have an adjustment. I wear a size 101/2 and they fit fine. I did 8 dives with them last month and loved them. I agree that the strap did not feel tight but they stayed on great. I don't know what you mean by "back up straps".
DARRELL D Instead of shoehorn, I meant shoe stretcher.
DARRELL D The heel straps on my Seawing fins are actually too tight and I had to replace them with straps from some of my other fins so that I could adjust them for a looser fit. I did inspect the straps to see if there was a way to adjust them but found no way except to maybe stretch them with a shoehorn mechanism. For now I just went with replacement straps. But I love my Seawing fins other than that.
MILTON M I don't believe the heel strap is adjustable, but these are the best fins I have owned. They provide good propulsion on the surface and underwater, and my legs don't get tired or cramped. I bought the large size for a size 13 foot, and they fit fine with a 3mil boot.

SAUL L Blake I wear a size 9.5 shoe the medium fits me perfect. The large was too big. Ilike a snug fit. You'll have to try one or the other to find out. Good luck
WALTER A I normally wear a men's size 9 or 9-1/2 shoe, and the medium size Seawing Nova fits perfectly. I'm not sure about a size 7, but I hope that helps. I, my wife, and my son all love these fins! They're positively buoyant, so my wife prefers a set of 1 pound ankle weights for trim, but my son and I have no problem with the buoyancy.
