Questions about this item:
Shopper I AM FEMALE 105 LBS XS IS TOO BIG FOR ME WHAT WITH THE RIDING UP AND ALL?
ELAINE G I am small too and the vest stayed on- please note that I don't even know how to swim and I went snokerling with this on and I totally trusted this product. I only practiced how to snorkel at the YMCA and my trip to the US Virgen Islands was great!
KINSEY F This purchase was a gift for my mom, who weighs 110-115. For her the fit is good. There is a little bit of riding up inherent in the type of product but she does not find it too annoying.
JANET H i think it will be fine for you!
Robert H Unable to decide between small or medium.
Male 5 feet 9 in. 153 pounds 34 inches waist 37 chest.
I think the large may be too loose when in the water???
PAUL P I would advise going to a large.
KENNETH K Mi wife wears a large
RICHARD N My guess would be medium.......large is generally 42 - 44 inch chest, small may be to snug.
DANIEL G They do stretch well and I think I small would be my choice. Fabric is such that it will not restrict your respiratory effort or range of motion in any way. Hope this helps.
DG
NANCY S Large might be to big unless you fully inflate
Go medium
Robert H Many peoples told to buy one size less............I always buy medium at home, so you are sure small will not fit ?
Thanks, Robert.
Robert H Hi,
I am interested but I will not want to receive it by UPS.
I live in Canada and the duty will be very high with them and not easy to deal when not at home to receive the package.
Is it possible instead to use only USPS service ?
Best Regards!
Robert
NANCY S Sorry....thought you were asking large vs medium (that is usually the question) go for the small. I am usually a large got large and it rides up .
Larry A Which vest is best to order for size; my wife is 5'3", 121#, 32 bust, 27 " waist and I am 5'8", 175#, 36" waist, 40-41" chest. I read the reviews and they say to get them to fit snug so they don't ride up when in the water. Reviews also stated the fit is tight when dry, but when in the water it tends to loosen up. What would your suggestions be? Thank you
CAROL K Hi Larry - I would go with the sizing chart. and yes you want it to fit snug when dry. It is very comfortable and works great. I love mine.
JOHN L For me this vest works better than any other vest we've had ...and we have had a few. They seam to run big and the ride up thing can be a factor. We just put our hands up around the neck and motor with our fins. This keeps the vest from riding up. So try ordering a smaller size. Problem...You wont be able to tell about the ride up until you get in the water. A strap that could be adjusted from the front and back of the vest between you legs would fix the issue.
DAVID B 5' 10", 33 waist, 175 lb, chest 40". Medium works great for me. Fits snug enough.
KEVIN A Hi Larry,
I can't speak for the size of your wife's vest but when I purchased my first vest I bought a large and it was fine. I am very close to your size. However, when I gained a few pounds (like 20 - too many cruises I guess) I needed to then get an XL because the large was way too tight. Also, this is a great vest as it works and looks great and alot more comfortable than the loaner ones they give you when you go on a snorkeling excursion. Finally, I recommend that you get a good pair of fins which you will also find on Leisure Pro. Kevin
john w OK, one more question on size... I'm 5'9" 200lbs 35" Waist & a 44" chest.
what size would say i should order?
Many thanks
John
KENNETH K I believe xl would. Be appropriate .
John A Hi, my wife is 5' , 32 inch waist, Bust 32DD (UK measurement) 32D (US measurement). She considers herself a little over-weight so the waist size could drop to 31 inch. As she is borderline small/medium which size would you recommend? We live in England so do not have the option of buying different sizes and sending back the wrong ones. Thanks.
TIMOTHY S I would always recommend to go to the smaller size. The body of the vest is a neoprene vest with the air chamber attached to it. Neoprene stretches so a tight fit will loosten in the water.
RUSSELL W Medium should be fine.. take care she loved it.
KENNETH K I think the medium. My wife loves hers.
John A Hi Kenneth,
Thanks for taking the time to respond. At the moment the vote stands at: 2 for Small : 2 for Medium.
Regards
John
Sally S I bought the Small - I am a long-torso Female, 5'5", 129 lbs, waist 27", chest 34B. It fits on top (not tight) but is loose enough around the waist that I can pinch together about two inches even with a rash guard on. Which part needs to fit best - the chest or waist? Should I exchange it for an XS? I have very little time left to exchange it before my trip.
CRAIG H I WOULD SUGGEST (IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO) PUT THE VEST ON AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT 'AND INFLATE IT'. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL ALMOST IMMEDIATELY HOW SNUG A FIT YOU HAVE. ONCE INFLATED AND IN THE WATER THE VEST SHOULD STAY IN PLACE AND NOT SHIFT UP/DOWN OR SIDEWAYS. AS SNUG AS A RASH GUARD IS GOOD, BUT NOT SO SNUG (TIGHT) THAT BREATHING EASILY COULD BE RESTRICTED. THE KEY, I BELIEVE, IS HOW SNUG A FIT WHEN INFLATED.
MILTON W If you have a wet suit on you may need that extra 2 inches otherwise go with the smaller
WILLIAM J C I will suggest the smaller size for warmth and comfort. I had the same issue with the large and went to the medium. The medium fit my waist well and the top felt snug until I was in the water and then the whole vest fit like a glove. Enjoy your trip.
JEFFREY K It needs to be very tight or it will ride up. I suggest you buy the smaller one too, then return the one you don't want. You can even return the one you don't want after you return. Leisure Pro has a long return time. Have a nice trip.
Jenny L Hi, I am 5'3", 130lbs, and 34b/c . Would you recommend the xs or small for size?
CAROL K Not sure - I am 5'5", 145 lbs and 38/c and wear a medium.
Edgar C Planning on getting this for my wife for our trip in two weeks. She is 5' tall and is 36C chest size. What size should I get? I'm seeing from small to large but won't the large be too long?
Thanks!
RUSSELL W Med, chest is the most important measurement.
JASON R We wife is 5'6" with C-sized bust and we bought her a small. With the vest you don't want to go too big because it will ride up when wet. Most of the feedback on the site about the vest said go smaller than you think. The small on my wife was a bit tight, when inflated on dry land, but she said it was perfect wet during her snorkeling. She also said the extra buoyancy was nice to have.
NANCY S I am 5 ft 2
36 DD
I have a large
I would recommend A medium
Have a nice vacation
Edgar C NANCY,
Thank you very much! I was thinking that too cuz she is between a 36C & D. Thank you very much!
TGIF! Have a great weekend!
Ed
KENNETH V My wife is 5' 4", about 130 pounds and is a 34b. She wears a small. I'm 5'11", 180 pounds, 36 waist and wear a 42 regular suit. I have a large but wish I got the medium. My vest tends to rid up around my neck. The sides and back are stretchy, neoprene fabric. My opininon is to go with the smaller size. If you dont care about paying return shipping, order different sizes and return the ones that don't fit.
CHARLES L My wife is almost the same size and she used a medium on our trip and it was fine. The sides are neoprene and allow for some stretch. Excellent product, we both were very impressed with the quality and function of the unit.
Scott
Isabel E Female 5'0 114 lbs. Male 5'8 175 lbs. What sizes shld we purchase?
NANCY S Female small
Male xxl or xl
Can depend on how much you blow it up.
KENNETH V I'm a 5"10 male, 180 pounds. I like the fit of the large. It is not skin tight. I wear a 42 regular suit, If you want a tight fit, go medium. My wife wears the small. She is 5'6 and 125 pounds and a 34B. Again, it is not skin tight but comfortable. It does have the neoprene which will stretch. I'm guessing the female would be an XS if they have it. What we will do sometimes is order two sizes and send back the one that does not fit. We may have done that with this order, but I cannot remember. This is by far the best and most comfortable snorkeling vest by far.
DARRYL Z x-small & medium
MILTON W I am a male 155 lbs and 6 feet tall . The medium fits me fine.
Shopper I am 5'7, 155 lbs, 31 waist what size should I get it?
JANET T I am just 5 feet and 110 pounds and I wear an x small, if there is one, if not I probaby wear the small. I don't kow if a medium or large would be good. Depends if you plan to wear a rashguard or not. I love this product. It is good to free dive when you deflate while snorkeling.
Shopper My husband is 6'1", 195 lbs, waist 34, chest 42. What size should I get for him? Thank you.
PEGGY W My husband is 6'2", 180 obls, waist 34, chest 42. He bought a large and fit great.
KEVIN A Based upon what you provided I would say to go with the Extra Large. I am 5'8" 200 lbs, waist 40 (your husband is in alot better shape then me!) and I had previously has a large which I used for a few years prior to gaining a few pounds and found that the large was getting way too tight so I bought the extra large and that was mush more comfortable. If you have time before your trip you can always buy the one size and if it doesn't fit trade it in for the other size.
Shopper Does it fit over a shortie wetsuit? What would you recommend this one or one of the others?
JOHN N It's a pretty snug vest and provides warmth as well, but I can't see why it wouldn't stretch and fit over a wetsuit.
KENNETH K Probably would fit under a 2 or 3 mil shortie. I have 2 and the women love them
CAROL K I love this vest but I don't wear it over a wetsuit. I guess you might need the next size up to make if fit comfortably?
GARRETT S Absolutely love it.
Easy to inflate.
Yes. it fits well over rashguard or wetsuit.
GRANT M as far as I am concerned this is the best vest on the market -the only one to purchase all the others have a Jock stap which is generally painful
Shopper Would this vest work well for Kayaking? Usually, this requires a good range of movement for paddling.
DARRYL Z It would probably be ok for kayaking
KENNETH V It's not made to be a life vest. I would get something specific to that activity that will keep you afloat and save your life.
JULIE M B Although I haven't done a lot of kayaking, my guess is that the vest would work well as far as being comfortable. The sides and back do not inflate so the vest would not restrict movement in those areas. Even fully inflated, the vest is not so bulky that it would interfere with cross-body movement. The vest would probably not provide as much buoyancy as the type usually worn kayaking which would be a safety concern. Depending on the water conditions and type of kayaking, I don't know if it would provide enough buoyancy and protection in an emergency situation. It's a great vest for snorkeling and would work for kayaking in calm water but might not be appropriate for more challenging kayaking conditions.
carol b Hi,
I'm looking at this vest for an upcoming scuba vacation. But also would like to know if you can use it to swim in....we swim in a local lake that is dark water and would love something that has flotation without being bulky. Is this vest designed for that sort of thing? Thank!
ROBERT O Carol, I think this would work out very well. I purchased it for my wife who is a little unsure of this snorkeling business. It works very well un-inflated, with very little sense of being bulky. I have been using similar vests for years as I have a tendency to get leg cramps the first day or so of a trip. It inflates easily and is easy to see. Enjoy. Bob O
LOIS H Yes, you can swim in it, deflate it first, it will provide some minor drag, inflate it if you tire and need a boost to shore.
GANESH R It would be fine to swim in or snorkel.
MICHAEL D Not sure how this would work for your scba vacation. We are long time divers and used these for a whale shark trip where diving was not permitted. This will not function like a BC for diving. For swimming, yes it should be great.
JOSEPH S This is a great vest for snorkeling and just swimming. Not bulky at all. The Velcro pocket in front is great for storing various items.
PHILIP B Yes ... Best snorkel and general flotation vest I've ever owned and the company behind it is first class. I had one where somehow the valve tip on the inflator broke and they replaced the whole vest even out of warranty.
MARY ANN H The answer is "yes" you can swim in it. I have had mine since 2007 and I LOVE IT. It does not take much air for it to work wonderfully. It is well designed.
Mary Ann
A satisfied customer!
NANCY S Vest is good for snorkeling....could work for swimming just don't inflate it...have a nice vacation.
Shopper I am 6' 3" around 185- 190 lbs with a 32 inch waist , would I be a size large ?
JOHN D Yes; this item needs to fit snug otherwise it has a tendancy to ride up!
DARRYL Z I'd say you're in between a M and a L. With your waist size, a M would be better, but with your height, you might be better with a L
chris h Can anyone tell me what is the buoyancy of this vest (i.e how many lbs.) ?
RICKIE T In salt water, with no inflation it holds me up.I weigh 200 lbs.
NEFTALI Z I bought four different sizes for my family. Snorkeling is best practiced without a vest, but you use one a a safety net with very little air. Too much air and you can't freely move and enjoy snorkeling. I scuba dive but I bought these vests for safety for my kids and they are extremely conformable. Getting back to your question, I don't know how many lbs. of buoyancy they provide, but snorkeling requires very little air if any on those vests, your own body provides most of the buoyancy.
I hope it helps. More technical questions can be found with the manufacturer.
Chris B I don't know the lbs bouancy, but can say I have really enjoyed the vest over the last couple years! Good luck on the tech specs.
Chris
chris h Any children size? will XS fit ?
PEDRO P don't know be here's a story for you... I brought two subs mask and both leaked... but ONLY thanks to manufacture who lucky for me was located
accross the bay from me In ST Pete florida .. I was able to get them fixed... you guys told me a jump in the river pretty much.... what a joke you asking about the vest ... good luck with all the poeple I told about your lousey customer service ..
David R We only have the chart on the website for the waist sizes.
PEGGY W It depends on the size of the child. I own a size small in this snorkeling vest and typically wear a size 8 to 10 petite in women's clothing. I am 5'1" tall and weigh 130 pounds. Hope that helps.
SHARON L How old/what size is your child? My daughter wore the small vest from about age 9 but she is a bit tall for her age.
Shopper What size for a small female?
KAREN S I am 5'6 and weigh 130 lbs and bought a small, it fits great. It will also keep the sun off your back
DAVID B For relative sizing: I am a 5' 10" male, 40 inch chest, 32 inch waist. I purchased a medium and it fits perfectly.
JEFFREY K If you are not sure get one size smaller. The vest tends to ride up. If it is just too might to get on. the exchange for a larger size.
OCTAVIO V I bought a Large, but I am male 5'10" and 180 lbs.
TIMOTHY S I would go with an extra small
JOHN L Pretty true to size but if I had to error I'd error on the smaller size. The only thing that would make this a total 10 of 10 if it had a strap that went from front to back in between the legs to keep it from riding up. But I would definately recommend this vest above any others Ive had!!
Shopper how much does it weigh?
RICHARD N Hardly anything, maybe 1 lb, if that, packs easily and gives my wife the comfort she lacks in the water when snorkeling.
PHILIP B Can't say for sure ... but like a pound ... very light
NANCY S Weightless.... :-)
no problem with weight at all, very light
WILLIAM J C My large vest weighs 3/4 lb. It is a great product.
Zack P Hi folks, I just ordered both a small and medium vest so I have a choice of either and will send the other one back. I have noticed most people recommend getting a snug fit, I can squeeze into the small but it's a pretty tight fit, the medium is noticeably looser. I feel a bit silly in the small b/c it looks like I'm wearing a midriff shirt haha. I am 5'11, 165 lbs, 38 suit, 32 waist. Do you think I should go with the small or medium?
DARRYL Z The small should work fine for you now, however, old age tends to add pounds, so depending on how long you want to snorkel, the medium might be better.
KENNETH V I'm 5' 11, 180, 40 reg, and 35 waist. I tried on the medium and the large and the large was more comfortable for me. I am going to guess that the medium is more comfortable when you have it on, so go with the medium.
DAVID B Zack,
We ordered these for our whole family, including grown children and adults...so we had quite a range of the way this fit each person. I would say if the small sized vest does not fit close to your waist (if it stops at your midriff like you mentioned) then it is too small to be comfortable. You do want it relatively snug so it doesn't float out and away from your body, getting in your way, in the water...and remember, the beauty of this vest is the freedom it gives you in the water with it not having to be inflated until you blow the air in. Which makes another point to consider...it will be snugger once inflated. Hope this helps. Just by your measurements, I would say medium. My wife has a medium and she is shorter than you, but the rest of the measurements are close.
Lorrie B Question for the ladies.....I am a 36D bra size, will this jacket fit comfortably?
PHILIP B Should be no problem as an XL ... wonder if a Large would work.
This is a great vest. Only problem you might find is the vest tends to ride up. For my wife and myself, I have actually sewn in crotch straps to hold it in place. I've tried a number of other jackets and without a crotch strap they all have this problem. This one is the best and ScubaPro is outstanding in customer service if you have a problem.
Lorrie B Thanks! I will say the reason I am considering this is that it DOES not have a crotch strap.
Garth W I'm 5ft 10 in. , 33 inch waist and 38 in chest. I weigh 165 lbs. What size would you recommend? Thanks
Garth W.
DARRYL Z I would say a medium. I'm 5'10, 245 lbs, 38" waist and a large fits me fine.
D
ROBERT O We purchased a vest to be used both by my wife and me. I'm about your size and a size large seemed to do the job.
DAMIEN F You sound slightly larger then I am, very slightly. I got a Medium.
Stuart R I'm a 6'0" male with a 32" waist and 43" chest and I weigh 195. What size do you recommend?
ANNE S I bought a medium for a guy with a 32 inch waist, not thinking about his chest. It was fine at the waist but wouldn't zip up. I'm not sure what his chest size is. I would say a Large, which is what I ended up exchanging it for.
AUDREY O You're probably a Medium or a Large but you might want to check the size chart. Hope that helps.
NANCY S I am 5'2" weigh 144 bought a large. Hope this helps.
CRAIG H THE VEST I AM FAMILIAR WITH IS THE SMALLEST ONE AVAILABLE. IT WAS FOR MY WIFE AND FIT HER PERFECTLY. JUST CHECKING IT OUT, I TRIED IT ON. I WAS SURPRISED I COULD GET INTO IT. THE STRETCH MATERIAL STRETCHED ENOUGH TO GIVE A VERY TIGHT FIT. HAD I ORDERED ONE FOR MYSELF, I WOULD PROBABLY GO WITH A MEDIUM THAT COULD PROBABLY STRETCH A LOT MORE FOR LARGER FRAMES. I AM 5 11, 160, AVG BUILD.
Shopper how to choose a size?
TIMOTHY S If you are between sizes order the smaller size. A tight fit keeps the vest from creeping up towards your chin.
KEVIN A I have purchased both a Large and Extra Large Scubapro Cruiser Snorkeling Vest over the years. I guess that as the years go on you gain a few pounds. The way to determine the size is whatever size you wear in a good quality dress shirt is the size you want to purchase in the vest. If you get one that is too big it will ride up on you when you are in the water and if it is too small then it will be really uncomfortable. I have to say that this is the best snorkeling vest I have ever seen. Good luck and enjoy your vacation. Also get good quality fins that have the openings in them as it will make your snorkeling alot more enjoyable as you won't get cramps in your legs if you are not used to wearing them.
KERRI L R You will want the vest to fit snug, if it is too loose it will move all over the place once you are in the water. I went with the size shirt that I wear (medium) and it fits and works great. I would not size up nor down.
Shopper The vest instructions says to lube the moving parts. What kind of lube is everyone using? Also which parts are you lubing?
MAXIM B Have used this product for several years and never had to lube it once. However, my guess is that you'd wanna use a silicon-based (i.e. non-greasy) lubricant
JOHN N The only moving part of this vest is the tip of the inflator valve which you push down into the tube itself so you can blow in it and inflate the vest . The instructions printed on the vest (which I was unaware of until now) say to lubricate this part with silicone lube.
EDWARD S I use regular silicone grease on the inflation mechanism on the inflation tube. Ed S
MICHAEL D Only moving parts are the inflation valve and zipper. We have two of these, and have never lubed either. I guess you could lube the screw threads for the inflation valve. Would just use the same silicone lube I use for all of our scuba gear.
Shopper What size am I? I thinkn I'm Large to XL, though normally I wear Medium and sometimes large shirts so XL sounds large to me. I'm 5'9", 185 pounds, waist 35", midsection 39", chest 40".
JEFFREY C yes I would go with the XL. I'm very close in size and found the XL to be comfortable. I use mine for open water swimming and snorkling. It helps make you visible to boaters, the vest keeps the sun off your back and the buoyancy is perfect.
CHERYL K The vest is true to size. If you wear regular clothing size Medium, you should order the vest in Medium. But you are tall and the chest size is wider than normal medium size person, I recommend that you order a large size. I hope this will help.
DARRYL Z I would go with a Large, not XL. I'm 5'10 240lbs and the Large fits me fine.
ENRIQUE L Hi. I am 5'4'', 173lbs, with a 34'' waist, 42 chest. I chose the Large size and was glad I did. It fit just fine. The black stretch material allowed the vest to fit snug and had plenty of room to go bigger if it was really needed.
JAMIE S I am about the same size 5?8? 190 and I would think a XL would be too big. The vest fits tight at first but loosens once you use it in the water..
MARK C Hi, I have this vest and it is one of the most valuable pieces of gear I am using right now. I freedive off the coast of Maine and due to the colder and more hostile waters, I wanted something that provided more security.
We are ABOUT the same in stature and weight. Go for the LG, not the XL, the neoprene will expand in water and it will loosen up slightly. XL would be way too loose. Also, remember to store this unit alone and in a protective bag. Although it is durable, it is an inflatable bladder which is at risk of abrasion and punctures from being mixed in with the equipment.
Hope this helps and have a great time wherever your going to snorkel!
M Carrera
Shopper Can this vest be used continually "inflated" for an hour or more and do snorkeling? Or should it only be inflated when necessary?
CHERYL S yes, you can use it continually inflated for an hour or more and do snorkeling. it provides a degee of bouyancy even when not inflated.
BETH P Yes the vest can be used inflated for hours. You may need to readjust as you snorkel,
LAWRENCE M I'm guessing you are asking this because you are not a strong swimmer - (much like myself) - to be comfortable snorkeling you really want to have neutral buoyancy. In salt water I can just lay face down ? breathing comfortably without moving anything ? however in fresh water I start to sink which tenses me up and I sink faster ? so for fresh water I tend to very slightly inflate my vest ? just to a neutral state ? too much and you will be pushed out of the water. By the way I rarely snorkel for much more than 45 minutes - even "warm" water will cool you down if below 98....
ANDREW B As others have mentioned, yes, it is meant to be used continually as desired while snorkeling. The only thing that is good to know beforehand is that for diving down, you do need to press the air out a bit. The valve is not high up on your shoulder like with a BC. This is not a strike against it or anything, just something to be aware of.
DAVID R You can use it either way. The neoprene in the vest actually helps you float without the need for much if any air in the vest.
WILLIAM J C It can be used continually inflated like a life jacket. I inflate before entering the water and then deflate for diving to check out something on the bottom and easliy re-inflate when back on the surface. It is a great product.
Shopper Can I use it inflated continually to help me in snorkeling for over an hour? Or just use it when I'm having issues and want to use to rest.
RICHARD N Bought subject vest for my wife since she is not comfortable in the water when we've gone snorkeling together.
She loves it..........no straps to deal with between the legs that do the "creep" and "rash" thing since they have atendency to rise up when one is more upright in the water.
This vest packs well, taking up very little space in your luggage, or as an add-in with my own scuba equipment.
DELILAH F Hi you can keep it inflated all the time if you feel comfortable. The neat thing about this vest is you can keep a small amount inflated and it still helps you also as you snorkel you can inflate more or decrease. I really luv this vest also it keeps my back from the sun . One time I really needed this vest and this helped me from getting tired and a float. Good luck hope this helped.
AUDREY O My mother and I have both used our vests while snorkeling for at least 30 - 45 minutes. The vest looks small but it works quite well and I'm sure you would have no problem wearing it for over an hour. The vests did not lose any air while we were using them so that's why I'm sure you would be fine after an hour of use.
RICK D Yes - the vest is intended for continued use and will remain inflated as long as needed.
CRAIG H INFLATE AS MUCH AS YOU FEEL YOU NEED FOR SUPPORT, WHETHER BRIEFLY OR FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. PARTIAL INFLATION GIVES GOOD SUPPORT FOR SNORKELING, WHILE FULL INFLATION (WHILE NOT TRULY A PFD - LIFE JACKET) GIVES GOOD SUPPORT AS WELL.
DALE L You can use it for over an hour with no problems. Once you inflate it stays that way unitil you deinflate. I highly recommend this item for snorkeling.
MICHAEL F I have worn this vest for more than 3 hours at a time snorkeling. You can use it continuously inflated. It inflates and deflates quickly and easily using the valve tube. This is a very well made item. I have taken it on many snorkeling trips in the Caribbean. You control the degree of inflation that is best for you at the time, so keep it inflated while you are snorkeling and then you can deflate it as you are walking out of the water, for example, or deflate it a little if you want to dive down and look at something. Enjoy your snorkeling adventure.
PHILIP B Oh yeah ... Just blow in the tube to inflate and you will have great resting buoyancy ... Press the tube tip and deflate to get back to neutral for externed snorkeling. Fits better and woks better than others I've used.
DENNIS N you can inflate fully for long restful snorkeling
or inflate partially, it's easy to use and makes
it fun to snorkel and provides sun protection...
EDWARD S Yes, it is designed to be inflated whlie you snorkel. You can do it partially or fully to rest and "bob" vertically. The neoprene back fits snugly which is more comfortable that the basic vest that has straps. My wife really likes it.
CRAIG P The vest can be inflated and used continually for the length of time you need.
David D Hi there. I am 235 to 240 pounds, 6 feet tall and have a waist of 38 to 39. What size do I order? Large or XL?
LARRY L order an xl they run a little small
David D I am worried a XL will ride up on me. I am nowhere near a 43 waist. Any help would be gret.
DELILAH F XL size The vest is great!
DALE L I own this item and use it 8-9 times per year. The run small so I would recommend an XL. Enjoy!
ANTONIO F Hello David
Im 5 '6 and weight 155 pounds with a 31 waist line. I went with the Small. Is a tight fit but the vest does not shift upward. I would recomend the Large.
One more note if you have a large beer belly go with the XL Large (no offense)
Hopefully this helps..
AUDREY O Did you click on the "Size Chart" link next to "Select Size"? That should be helpful. I ordered a small and I'm 5'3", 128 lbs, 28" waist and I ordered a size medium for my mom who is 4'10", 140 lbs (I don't know her waist size). They do fit snug but then again that's the way they're supposed to fit. They also give because my mom borrowed mine on one of our trips. I hope that helps! :)
Hilda S How stretchy is the snorkeling vest for $84? Would it be very easy to put on and take off? SENIOR LADY
ANNE D It has a full length side zipper. It is very easy to get on and off.
DAVID R Hi Hilda,
We purchased the vest for my wife. She is 64 years old. The vest was easy to put on and take off. The fit was so much better than the regular vests you receive on snorkeling trips that it really boosted her confidence. I believe that you would be very happy with this purchase.
JIM W I bought this for my wife a few years ago to snorkle with on non dive days during a trip to Hawaii. Sadly, the sizes run a little small and she never got to use it and the material did not have enough elasticity to make it work for her. I would be safe and get one size larger than you need.
MARCIA B It's easy to put on an off. Love the vest. You want the vest pretty snug otherwise it will ride up when you are in the water. This vest is much better than the inflatable yokes.
THOMAS H I bought this for my GF. She liked it a lot. The sides are pretty flexible, giving at least a couple if inches of stretch. It has a zipper on the left side and is very easy to put on/off. Seems to be very durable too. We may not find out though. She was very apprehensive of snorkeling at first and this vest got her in the water. She has since become a confident and proficient snorkeler and the vest has already been retired after less than 10 uses. This is an excellent product and I could recommend it for anyone that may be looking for a vest. Well worth the money.
Hilda S congratulations to your GF on progressing and learning! I hope to do the same. Did you buy the vest "snugfitting" as is recommended? Did your GF use fins, and swim with arms at sides, when she was starting? Hilda
THOMAS H Yes, she got a snug fit but the elasticity of this is good and allows some movement. ( I'm not going to guess at her size and throw you off what others might say about sizing.) We got her some Tusa Imprex fins because they are a bit shorter and easier to handle. A good choice. They are also at Leisure Pro but we got them from a local dive shop. Arms at her sides........Yes. When she wasn't flailing :) I can be a good frailer myself occasionally. Buoyancy challenged.
Hilda S Hi. Do you like your fitted snorkel vest (reef cruiser)? I snorkel on the surface only, but can't use fins so I swim with arms and legs. The flotation vest I have now keeps riding up under my chin because I need to use arms for forward propulsion, rather than keeping arms at my sides (since I don't use fins). Do you think this vest will be comfortable? SENIOR LADY IN MONTREAL
MAXIM B Hi,
I find the fit of the vest to be pretty nice. It may ride up but very slightly. You just need to make sure and buy the right size (it must be VERY snug when dry so that when you get into the water it fits you right). I use my arms when snorkeling, but sporadically, so I can't guarantee you'll find the vest staying in place in your situaiton. All I can say it does the job for me.
EDWARD F I bought this for my wife a couple of years ago and she loves it. Everyone always asks where we found it. My wife is not a strong swimmer but with this is very comfortable to the point that we swam out almost a mile off the shore while in Saint Johns this past summer.
MICHAEL D As long as the vest is fitted properly, it is a great snorkel vest. My wife and I bought the vest for a recent trip to snorkel with whale sharks. I was a little skeptical at first because we are usually diving with a BC; but these vests performed very well. I think the most important part is to make sure that the neoprene body portion of the vest fits well.
DARRYL Z I like the vest but I find the air bladder still rides up around my chin, maybe not quite as bad as the Mae West type I used to wear. Since I don't use my arms to snorkel with, I usually just pull the bladder back down toward my waist as I'm swimming along. It is very comfortable, and I don't regret purchasing it.
DEBORAH B Hi Hilda,
Yes...I like the snorkel vest. Mine rides up on me as well...not sure if I'm over inflating it or if it's just a little too big for me. I've just been pushing it back down as I swim (kinda annoying). I was thinking about sewing a strap in the middle to go through the crotch area. I read on another blog about that some people had done that and it worked well for them after that. Other than that the vest is very comfortable especially if the water is a tade cold. I also found that I didn't get as much of a back burn because it covers most of your back and chest. Good luck! ;o)
BRUCE S You'll really like this vest. It fits snugly so it won't ride up and having a zipper down one side makes it really easy to get into and out of. The neoprene full back provides some flotation even without adding air to bladder and also provides sun protection. With no extra straps it's a clean fit that doesn's snag on anything and is easy to pack for trips.
chiuhui w unable to decide between XS or S; I'm female 5'2'', 115lbs, waist is exactly 27". which one should I go for? Thanks!
chiuhui w thanks everyone, very useful comments!
DANIEL G I would go with the XS, as they are quite flexible and a snug fit seems the better option. If this does not work for you, I am sorry, but the product is a fine purchase. Good luck, and happy snorkeling!!!
Dan
CRAIG H MY WIFE IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS YOU BUT ABOUT A BIT LESS THAN 110. THE XS VEST FIT HER WELL WITH VERY LITTLE STRETCH OF THE ELASTIC SIDE BANDS ALMOST A BIT LOOSE ON HER . XS WILL PROBABLY FIT YOU JUST RIGHT, JUST SNUG ENOUGH, BUT NOT TIGHT. THE ADDITION OF A WHISTLE ATTACHED TO (NEAR) THE AIR VALVE WOULD BE A GOOD ADDITION.
WILLIAM J C I am a 34 waist and when I ordered the vest I thought it was going to be too small and instead it fit perfectly. That being said the vest does fit snuggly in and out of the water; so you being right on the border I would suggest the small based on what you may be layering it over.
NANCY S I love my vest but I think I should have sized down .if it is snug it has less of a chance of floating up. I do not inflate it very much. Happy snorkeling.
Nancy
BETH P You should get XS. You want the vest to be snug.
Ron D We do a lot of distance snorkeling/swimming on the north shore of St Croix. Vessels are becoming an increasing problem in remote bays. Do you have a vest with a beacon? Frequently we're coming back in around dusk.....we need some sort of light beacon. It would be nice to find a vest with a built in beacon. Any suggestions?
RICHARD P The Scubapro Cruiser Snorkeling Vest does not have it's own light, however, attaching one of your choice should be simple. Otherwise, the vise is perfect for extended snorkeling periods. Un-inflated, it does not restrict movement in the water whatsoever and allows the swimmer to dive freely. It also allows one to lay face down on the water, not tending to cause rotation of one's body to a vertical orientation. Most importantly, it can provide emergency flotation if needed. i have used mine off St Maarten and often snorkel alone.
MICHAEL F I have owned this ivest for a couple of years and taken it on many snorkeling trips to u s virgin islands and roatan. This is an excellent product and well worth the money spent. It does not come with a beacon. I am sure that you could find an inexpensive one to attach. Note that it is the front that is the bright material. The back is black and has a logo. It would be nice if the back had some kind of bright or reflective strip.

LeisurePro S I would recommend a large for yourself and an xlarge for your wife.
Shopper I'm a female, 5'8" about 151lbs. Should I order a small or medium?
LeisurePro S Measure around the widest part of your waist. If your measurement is more than 31", a medium would be your better choice. I would hazard a guess that a medium will be your right size.
