JASON R I am very pleased with this kit. I am using it to add my 19 to my 40s on deep dives. I have two 40s and can swap the 19 between dives with little effort at all. The tank mounts to the right side, (viewing diver from the back) so I had to switch my BC strap so that it straps to the left side instead of the right. The kit will work just fine with any size tank though. 13 and 6 are okay. If you find that you need different cables, you can buy them at any local hardware store and at most auto parts stores.
JOHN J I use the Pony Tamer with a 19 cu ft aluminum pony tank. It works fine for that. One thing I do to "balance" the weight of the pony tank (mounted on the right side of a standard 80 cu ft tank) is to reduce my weight by two pounds in the right weight pocket. With a smaller tank you may not need any balancing. I do not use a smaller 6 or 13 cu ft tank, but I would think it should be fine, just mount with the appropriate size band clamp for that tank diameter. Also, I have added a small, dial-type pressure gauge to the high pressure port of the pony tank regulator so that I can easily verify the pressure in the pony tank.
CHARLES L The clamps that hold the bottle is similar to the type that is generally used on a radiator hose. I have not used a bottle this small, but there should not be any problem securing it in place.
I am using a steel tank with an aluminum bottle without any issues.
ENRIQUE A yes it work very well i used it with 30 cu ft steel worthingtong tank it hold it good in position all the time doesent move at all, when you are diving you want to have a relaxing time no worries about you gear. and you want you gear to do the job than is made to do and this reef pony tamer do the job 100% so i really recomended you wont be desapointed about this purchase. dive safe ;>)
MICHAEL S Yes it will work well... You may have to cut the clamp strap shorter or i just used black electrical tape to tape the end to the tank in case i wanted to use it on a larger tank....Just take your time and adjust the fit.... You should also practice with it and make final adjustments in shallow water before going on a long dive. The unbalanced weight can be offset by moving weights to the other side or by using trim weight pouches. Also.... Practice removing it underwater as this can be tricky in an emergency! I have been a FD rescue diver for 5 years and have used and abused this mount with no problems at all!! My whole dive team uses the mount now!!
JEFFREY E I use it on a 19 cf tank, but I think it would be fine on a 13 since the clamps are adjustable. I'm not sure about a 6 cf cylinder, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.
COREY C I actually returned this and went to a sling bottle setup. It would work well with a smaller bottle but I had a 19 initially.
CHUCK H I briefly used the 'pony tamer' with a 19cu.ft.alum. tank attached to attach it an 80 cu.ft. alum tank. It was not difficult to fabricate the installation. However, in use I found the configuration to negatively effect my buoyancy plane ...listed to one side. I found it difficult to reach around to turn on/off the valve and check the air gauge.
I no longer use the 'pony tamer' as I switched configuration to a front mounted pony that clips to my 'D' rings with SS clips. The 'pony tamer' does not allow for many options for sharing air during a crisis. On boat dives the fixed pony did not fit traditional tank supports.
The front mounted, clipped configuration allows for quick removal and handing off to share air. Easy access to the reg.,gauge, and valve make for easy use.... and it neatly tucks under my arm while diving.
