DESCRIPTION

Whats in the box:Cylinder, Valve and Tank Boot

The steel cylinders are manufactured at Worthington Cylinder's state of the art facility in Tilbury, Canada. The cylinders are manufactured using the Deep Draw and Ironing (DDI) process. Cylinders start from a circular plate of chrome-moly steel. Multiple draws on a hydraulic press transform the plate into an open ended shell. The shell is then closed, the neck is formed and the threads are machined. The DDI process produces the most consistence wall thickness resulting in the lightest weight, most efficient cylinders. This manufacturing process is what allows Worthington to supply cylinders with the best buoyancy characteristics for scuba diving.

During the process of Hot Dip Galvanizing, the exterior of the Worthington steel cylinders are submerged into 840?F molten zinc. The process deposits a 5 - 8 mil thick zinc barrier to protect against the corrosive ocean environment. This layer of zinc metallurgically bonds to the steel cylinder. The Zinc will not chip and wear away like a painted zinc finish. XS Scuba is so confident that exterior rust will not be an issue; they guarantee it for the life of the cylinder. If the exterior of your XS Scuba HDG steel cylinder rusts, XS Scuba will correct it for as long as you own the cylinder, without cost to you.

All the XS Scuba Worthington Cylinders are designed to be slightly negative at the end of a dive, unlike aluminum cylinders that provide positive buoyancy at the end of a dive, requiring the diver to wear added lead to compensate for the excess buoyancy. The XS Scuba Worthington Steel Cylinder allows you to wear less lead on all dives (for specific buoyancy characteristics see specifications). The interior of the cylinder is Highly-Resistant to Rust using a Phosphatized Finish. All Cylinders are Nitrox Cleaned and Sealed at the factory, free of hydrocarbons to a level of 40 mg per square meter and ready for pre-blended Nitrox up to 40% FO2.

Cylinder comes equipped with the XS Scuba Pro Valve. The XS Scuba's Pro Valve is designed and manufactured for long life and heavy use. Valve is made of marine grade brass with triple bright chrome plating for long life protection in salt water. Precision Machined from high tension brass and chrome plated the valve stems will give years of service and corrosion free operation. Easy Grip soft rubber Safety Hand Wheel with Stainless Steel Insert ensures long life and large ribs make turning handle easy even when wearing gloves. This New Unique Safety Hand Wheel allows the diver to visually see if the valve is completely turned on and off with a set of colored rings that appear on the valve side of the hand wheel. If you see Red" the valve is off or not completely open. If you see Green" the valve is completely open and ready for diving. New hand wheel takes the guess work out of knowing your valve is fully open and ready for diving.

Valve bonnets are O-ring sealed not copper crush washer sealed with extreme torque requirement. You won't need to Crank" on the valve when you open and close it with the 1.5-Hand Wheel Rotation from Full-On to Fully-Off. The Valves Seat Assembly is Teflon Coated for years of Smooth Operation and a One-Piece Safety Plug protected within the Valve Body guards against damage during transport. The Pro Valve will accommodate both Yoke and DIN Cylinders with its Removable 230 bar (3,336 psi) DIN Insert which can be removed using a 1/4" Hex Key Wrench. Vale has a 5/32" Hex Key Dip Tube and is Nitrox compatible up to 40%.

Included with the Cylinder Valve Assembly is a Durable, Quality Self-Draining Designed Tank Boot with Hexagon Edge to prevent rolling while cylinder is lying down. The XS Scuba Worthington LP Steel is a Compressor-Friendly 2,400 psi (166 bars) Cylinder with a "Plus" rated for 10% overfill to 2,640 psi (182 bars) and are available in 4 sizes: LP85 cu ft (12.8 liter) with a 7.25" (18.4 cm) diameter, LP95 cu ft (14.8 liter), LP108 cu ft (16.8 liter) and an LP121 cu ft (18.9 liter) with 8.0" (20.3 cm) diameters. All cylinders are covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

Comments about XS Scuba Worthington Cylinders LP Steel 2,400 psi (166 bar) Tanks:

I dive a lot with my Dad, who is a bit of a gas hog. After mulling various options, I got him the LP Steel 85 from Worthington. Because everyone fills tanks to 3,000 PSI around here regardless ("cave fills"), you get an effective capacity of 106 cubic feet with the overfill, which is enough for even the worst gas hog. However, the tank is still slightly smaller than a conventional Aluminum 80. But is is heavier, so he was able to drop 3 lbs off his weight belt (although it is less fun to carry back and forth).

Overall: very pleased. If you don't like the idea of overfilling LP steel tanks though, presumably the upside is limited.

Comments about XS Scuba Worthington Cylinders LP Steel 2,400 psi (166 bar) Tanks:

I use the LP95. It is a great tank. The only drawback is with my computer. I use the Sherwood Wisdom 2. I have to turn off the alarms for tank pressure. Otherwise computer thinks it's in low air situation. In reality I have a third of tank. I like my tank.
